The Universal Breath This is a foundational,
Subtle energy practice based on lower dantien breathing.
The lower dantien can be imagined and felt as a spherical energy center in the lower abdomen,
Associated with gathering and circulating universal energy.
Focusing on sensations of breathing through the lower dantien adds fullness and depth to the breath,
And gives a felt sense of grounding,
Vitality,
And presence.
Feeling the aliveness in the breath,
We start to feel the life force within us,
And that starts to give us an energetic sense of who we are.
We sense our connection with the one life we all share,
And from there we can sense the even more subtle dimension within which this life arises.
Vast,
Boundless,
Timeless being itself.
Experiencing our energetic and essential being transforms how we relate to who we are,
To others,
And all of life.
It empowers us to live with a greater sense of aliveness,
Presence,
And connection.
To begin,
Sit comfortably upright,
With the soles of your feet firmly on the ground,
Or you can sit in another comfortable upright position.
Rest your hands,
Palms cupped in your lap,
With the tips of your thumbs touching lightly.
Lightly close your eyes.
Take a moment to settle in your seat,
And be present in your body.
We start with basic mindfulness,
Noticing whatever is present in awareness.
You may notice sounds,
Or lingering thoughts or emotions from your day.
You may feel sensations in your body.
See if it's possible to allow all of this to be just as it is.
Allow yourself to be just as you are.
Allow this meditation to be just as it is,
Without expectation,
Simply being present with each moment and allowing it to unfold.
Feel out into the space all around you as a sacred space,
A safe space that embraces you.
As you sit in this safe,
Sacred space,
Call to mind your intention for this practice.

Feel the solid support and grounded presence of the earth through the soles of your feet,
And thank mother earth for supporting your life.
