Let yourself settle into your bed,
Adjust your pillow,
Shift your hips,
Maybe cover yourself with your blanket.
Allow your body to find its most supported position.
Let your arms rest heavily,
Let your legs soften.
Take a slow inhale through the nose and a long steady exhale through the mouth.
You are here,
Right now,
And you are safe.
Notice the room around you,
Even with your eyes closed,
Sense the walls,
The ceiling,
The steady ground beneath the bed.
Feel the mattress holding your weight,
Supporting you completely.
Let your body register that nothing is required of you in this moment.
If anxiety is present,
Notice where it lives in the body.
Maybe the chest feels tight,
The stomach fluttering,
The throat constricted.
There is no need to push it away,
Just acknowledge it.
This is here,
Right now.
Let your next exhale soften around it,
Not removing it,
Just creating a little more space.
Now begin gently extending the exhale.
Inhale softly,
Exhale a little slower and longer.
Feel how the body responds to that longer exhale.
Maybe a slight settling or a small shift downward.
Each exhale whispers to your nervous system,
You can soften now.
Bring awareness to the heaviest parts of your body,
The back of the head,
The shoulders,
The heels.
Imagine them growing heavier with each breath out,
Sinking just a little deeper into the mattress.
Let yourself ground into this heaviness.
Gently,
Without opening your eyes,
Begin to notice four points of contact between your body and the bed.
Three distant sounds in the room or outside,
Two steady sensations in the body,
One long slow exhale.
Anxiety rises like a wave and every wave eventually falls.
You are not the wave,
You are the steady ocean beneath it.
Feel your breath moving evenly,
Even if the mind feels restless.
The body is learning that it can stay,
That it can soften.
Take one slow,
Deep inhale and a long,
Quiet exhale.
Let your shoulders soften even more.
Let your jaw release completely.
Let your tongue rest in the mouth.
Allow my voice to become more distant.
Nothing to solve tonight.
Nothing to figure out.
Just this breath.
Just this moment.
Just rest.
