Hi,
Lovely being.
Welcome to this caring space.
And before getting to the topic of our day,
I mean,
It is a little bit connected.
I would like you to check how you're sitting.
Just check your posture,
You know?
How are your shoulders?
Are they open or slightly closed?
How are your hands,
Your wrists?
How are your legs?
And I would like you,
In the coming days,
To observe how you're going to hold yourself.
Really observe your posture,
And I think we could learn a lot from it.
It is connected to the topic of today,
Which I called V for Victory.
Amy Cuddy,
A sociological psychologist did an impressive study recently in 2010 where she took a group of people.
Should divide them into two parts.
And she asked.
.
.
One group.
To hold a pause for two minutes.
And the other group.
.
.
To hold a very opposite pose.
So the first group.
Held a bit of an open pulse.
A bit of a wimmy.
Comfort and pause.
While the other one was more in a closed pose,
You know,
Let the bed come down.
Closed off over yourself.
Um.
.
.
For two minutes.
And so they stayed in this exact pause and did nothing else for two minutes.
Right after that.
They tested their hormone levels.
In the group that had held the confident open pause,
Their testosterone level had rose by an average of 20%.
While their cortisol had dropped.
By 15%.
On the other hand,
The other group The results were opposite.
The testosterone had dropped and the cortisol had went up.
Cortisol is the hormone of stress.
When testosterone is more the hormone that will give you assertiveness.
Self-confidence.
And so this was actually a very interesting result.
A result that we can actually see ourselves and something we know very well.
Take athletes.
Imagine.
An athlete.
Crossing.
The end line.
The verse.
What is he gonna do?
Opening up the chest.
The arms like fly in a V.
Lifting the chin up,
You know,
Like there's really all these postures of like opening,
Going in the V,
Like really adventuring posture.
What is?
Actually crazy though.
Is that if you take.
.
.
Blind athletes that have never seen this,
They have never seen anyone do this gesture as they don't see,
Will they happen to do exactly the same?
So that proves that it's not something you learn,
But it's something that is wired,
That is truly into you.
So if we would.
.
.
Summarize it very quickly.
It could be.
NOT!
Fake it till you make it.
But fake it till you become it.
Till you are.
Interesting,
Right?
Maybe this is something that you do,
Maybe you have resources.
Very interesting because this is something that you can truly adapt and use in your daily life,
You know?
So let's say.
You're meeting with your in-laws or it's the first time and you really do not feel like um you're not feeling this you know well just go to the bathroom and then Hold the power pose for just two minutes.
And the result is just that you will feel much more at ease,
You know,
You have more presence in the room.
So yeah,
I would like.
.
.
In the coming videos,
In the coming episodes,
That we try together to hold these couple of poses.
I think it's a very good exercise to practice together,
Now that you have a little bit of learnings and the science behind it.
I would like to practice with you.
If you have any comments or if you have any resource that you yourself use to empower yourself before let's say an interview,
Before a social difficult moment,
Before a call,
Before a presentation,
Whatever it is,
Please,
Don't doubt in sharing it in the comments.
And I will see you very soon for our series of power pauses.
