Welcome to the wisdom of not knowing.
What if the relief that you were looking for isn't in having all of the answers,
But in letting go of the need to have them?
I know this can be hard sometimes,
But for this practice we're just inviting the possibility and seeing what unfolds.
So,
Whenever you're ready,
Find a comfortable position that best supports your body at this time and you're welcome to close your eyes or soften your gaze and take a moment to allow yourself to simply arrive here in this present moment,
Nowhere to go,
Nothing to do,
But be here.
And see if you can take three nice breaths and let each exhale release the weight of what you think you should know by now.
And now notice your breath without trying to change it,
Just as it is.
Noticing the inhalation,
Noticing the exhalation and all the subtle sensations of breathing and having a breath.
And when you're ready,
Bring to mind something that you have been trying to figure out.
Maybe it's about your future or a relationship or a decision you need to make.
And don't try to solve it at this moment,
Just let it be present.
And notice how your body might respond to this uncertainty.
Maybe there's tension in your shoulders or a flutter in your chest and not in your stomach.
And whatever you find,
See if you can breathe into and through it.
And if it feels right for you,
Say to yourself,
I don't know and that's okay.
See if you can let those words settle,
I don't know and it's okay.
Most of the pressure we carry comes from thinking we should have all of the answers we don't have.
But what if not knowing is actually a doorway,
Not a dead end?
And see if you can allow yourself to rest in the space of not knowing.
Notice it's not empty,
It's actually full of possibility.
Maybe recognizing the moments when you felt most at ease that you weren't trying to control every outcome.
Maybe it was watching clouds drift by,
Or getting lost in a good book,
Or simply being present with something or someone you love.
You were okay with not knowing what came next.
The capacity for presence,
Even in uncertainty,
Is still in you.
See if you can breathe into that same ease now.
What if uncertainty is not something to solve,
But something to inhabit?
And see if you can let your next few breaths be spacious.
Each inhale,
Welcoming the unknown.
Each exhale,
Releasing the need to have it all figured out.
And see if you can notice how your body feels when you're not trying to know everything.
Maybe there's a softening,
A settling,
Or maybe just a quiet relief.
Allow yourself to rest here for a moment in the freedom of being exactly where you are,
Exactly what you understand right now.
This is enough.
You are enough,
Even without all of the answers.
And now I'm taking a nice breath in,
A long breath out,
As we begin to near the end of the practice.
And very slowly begin to invite movement back into your body,
Stretching,
Wiggling your fingers and toes.
And if your eyes were closed,
Gently opening them and taking a moment to simply orient to your surroundings.
So whenever you notice yourself spinning in the need to know,
You're welcome to take one conscious breath and whisper,
I don't know,
And that's okay.
Thank you for taking the time to practice this meditation.
May we all be well.
May we all know peace.
And may we all be free.
