Welcome to coming back home to yourself.
Find a comfortable position in a way that best suits your body,
Either seated or lying down,
And see if you can gently allow your body to start to settle naturally.
Gently close your eyes if that feels right,
Or if you prefer,
Simply soften your gaze downward.
Take a moment to see if you can sense your body exactly where it is,
Noticing the points of contact where your body meets the floor,
Cushion,
Chair,
And earth beneath you.
Let your shoulders drop away from your ears,
Allowing yourself to release any tension in your jaw,
Perhaps softening the muscles around your eyes.
There's no need to hold yourself up right now,
You're completely held and safe to let go.
Begin with 3 conscious breaths,
A slow,
Steady inhale through your nose,
Followed by a complete exhale through your mouth,
Like releasing a sigh that's been waiting all day.
Again,
Inhaling fully through the nose,
And exhale,
Softening with the breath.
And one more time.
Now see if you can allow your breath to find its natural rhythm without any control or effort.
Become the quiet witness to this moment,
Simply observing without judgment.
As you follow your breath,
Notice the subtle movements of your body,
Perhaps you feel the gentle expansion in your belly,
Or the rising and falling of your chest.
Remember,
There is no perfect way to experience this,
Only your way.
This is your personal homecoming,
A return to your breath,
To your body,
And your essential self.
As your breath enters,
See if you can acknowledge where it went without criticism,
Without judgment,
And then gently guide your attention back,
Back to the breath.
Now expand your awareness to include your entire body,
Noticing areas of tension and places that already feel at ease.
There's nothing to fix here.
See if you can simply be present with whatever you discover.
Let each breath move through you like a gentle wave,
Bringing oxygen,
Warmth,
And spaciousness to every cell.
You might silently affirm,
I am here,
I am safe.
Allow these words to sink deeply into your being,
And for these final moments,
Simply rest in pure awareness,
No doing,
No fixing,
No striving,
You've come back home to yourself.
Taking one more nice breath in,
And one more breath out,
Bring this back to your normal state,
Allowing the body to stretch and move as it wants to,
Slowly bringing gentle movement in back to your body,
And when it feels right,
Opening your eyes very gently,
And take a moment to just notice and orient to your surroundings,
Thank you for taking the time to practice this meditation and coming back home,
And see if you can possibly carry this centered awareness with you like an anchor of calm as you move on throughout your day or evening,
A place you can always return to no matter what arises.
May we all be well,
May we all know peace,
And may we all be free.
