Hello,
And welcome back to session 6 of Stillness Speaks.
My name is Colleen,
And today's practice is called Letting Go of What Harms.
The day I had my breast implants removed,
I felt a weight lifted.
Not just from my body,
But from my life.
This was something I had chosen for myself,
Believing it would bring me confidence and happiness.
Instead,
Over time,
This choice began to harm me,
Physically,
Emotionally,
And energetically.
Letting them go was an act of self-love.
It was a way of telling my body,
I choose you.
I choose health.
I choose truth.
But this lesson reached far beyond that single moment.
Over time,
I've learned that letting go can mean walking away from a relationship or friendship that doesn't honor you.
It can mean setting down a habit that numbs or drains you.
It can mean giving yourself permission to step away from anything that harms your body,
Heart,
Or spirit,
No matter how long you've carried it.
For me,
That has meant letting go of relationships,
Giving myself permission to walk away from people who didn't have my best interest at heart,
And nearly three years ago,
Choosing to stop drinking alcohol so I could feel everything again.
The joy and the pain,
The beauty and the grief.
Letting go is not always easy,
But each time we release what harms us,
We create more space for healing,
Clarity,
And peace.
This meditation is an invitation to explore what you might be ready to release.
Not with judgment or resentment,
But with gentleness and gratitude for whatever role it once played in your life.
Let's begin.
Please find a comfortable place to land.
Letting your body know it is safe to be here.
Gently close your eyes.
Drop your shoulders.
Relax your jaw.
Rest your hands gently,
Releasing any grasp.
Soften your belly,
Allowing your breath to move more freely.
We all carry things we no longer need.
Sometimes they're obvious,
And sometimes they hide quietly in the background.
A habit,
A relationship,
A belief.
They can weigh us down even when we don't realize how heavy they've become.
Imagine now that you are standing beside a still body of water.
In your hands,
You hold something you've been carrying.
A weight,
A habit,
A belief,
An object,
A relationship.
Something that no longer serves you.
Feel its presence.
Feel its weight.
You've carried it long enough.
Begin to notice your breath.
Breathing slowly in and out through your nose.
Let each exhale feel like a softening,
A letting go.
On your next inhale,
Silently repeat to yourself,
I release.
On your exhale,
Silently repeat with love.
Again,
Inhale,
I release.
Exhale with love.
Once more on your own.
Let the words guide you into a place of trust and compassion for your own letting go.
As you continue to breathe,
Imagine placing what you're ready to release into the water.
Watch it float for a moment,
And then slowly begin to drift away.
Not with resistance,
But with gratitude.
Gratitude for the lessons it brought.
For the strength it required.
For the space it is now making for what's next.
If other thoughts or feelings arise,
Let them pass through like ripples on the water.
Coming back to your breath.
Inhaling,
I release.
Exhaling with love.
Feel the space in your body and mind that opens as you let go.
Notice the lightness.
The breath moving more freely.
The sense of uncluttered openness within you.
My voice will be quiet for a little while.
Rest here in this new space in the stillness you've created.
When you're ready,
Begin to bring your awareness back to the sounds around you.
Feel the support of the earth beneath you.
Begin to move your fingers and toes.
Roll your shoulders.
Take a deep breath in.
And an even deeper breath out.
When it feels right,
Softly open your eyes.
Letting go is not about erasing the past.
It's about choosing the present.
It is the quiet courage to release what harms you,
So you can make space for what heals.
May you be well.
May you always trust your own inner wisdom.
And may you let go of what harms with love.
