To begin,
Take a few moments to adjust your position so that you're completely comfortable.
And when you're ready to begin,
Allow your eyes to gently close and,
At your own time and pace,
I'd like for you to take a deep breath in through your nose and then slowly exhale through your mouth.
Breathing in and,
Once again,
In and continue breathing deeply and slowly as you relax more and more with each breath you take.
And I'm wondering if you can start to notice or become aware of any tension or tightness you may be feeling in your body as you now start to scan from your feet all the way up to the top of your head.
Just notice any areas of tension and,
When you notice where that tension is,
Simply pause on that spot for a moment and focus your attention as you imagine that cluster of tension unraveling and dissolving,
Gradually releasing its hold on that part of your body.
And as that tension dissolves,
You can and you will relax more deeply.
And as your body relaxes more and more,
You can also relax your mind as you continue to focus on my voice.
And in a moment,
I'm going to be asking you to use the power of your imagination to visualize,
Imagine or simply become aware of all the things I'm about to describe.
So,
Now,
Create a picture in your mind or simply pretend that you are standing somewhere outdoors in the summertime.
It's dusk and you are in a place that's calm and safe.
You can imagine that you're in a place in the mountains or even on a sandy beach or a beautiful green meadow.
Imagine any place where you would enjoy watching the starry night sky as you relax more and more deeply and notice that there is still just a small hint of light left in the night sky and that the sun has descended well below the horizon,
Exposing the enormous indigo blue sky that spreads above you.
So,
Take some time to imagine all the details of this special place.
And as you do,
Notice what you can see here in this wonderful place.
Perhaps you can visualize yourself lying on a blanket or sitting in a chair,
Gazing up into the vast night sky.
The ground beneath you is still slightly warm from a day in the sun,
Allowing the sweet smells of summer that surround you to fill your senses with calmness and relaxation.
The evening sky continues to gradually darken as the indigo hues blend down into lighter shades,
Merging into a beautiful blend of pinks and greys near the horizon.
And it's so very peaceful watching all the beautiful colors as they slowly change in the night sky.
And as the light fades even more,
You feel the air become pleasantly cooler and still.
And as your eyes begin to adjust,
You start to take in the changing scenery around you.
The silhouettes of distant objects against the darkening sky as the first star starts to twinkle above you.
You can almost see the stars appear one by one as they shine and glisten like luminous diamonds across the velvety black sky.
Feel the calmness that the expansive,
Starry sky brings you.
A blanket of deep serenity and peace.
Enjoy the beauty of the night that warmly envelops you,
Allowing you to relax completely,
Guiding you down into a deep and restful sleep.
