Friend,

Welcome to the Grounded Sleep Podcast,

Or welcome back.

It's been a minute since I recorded any of these meditations for you.

It's actually been months and I didn't realize,

But the podcast has been getting hundreds of thousands of streams and people have been messaging me to make more episodes.

And I've been a bit busy.

In my hand,

I'm holding my new book that just came out.

We'll do some AMSR,

You can hear me turn the pages.

It is actually this really funny episode of The Simpsons.

By the way,

You could start getting ready for bed if you're not already there.

As I tell this story,

And in this episode of The Simpsons,

Lisa is listening to crime podcasts,

And she's trying to pretend she's not when her parents come into her room.

And so she says she's listening to AMSR sounds.

And she starts touching things and making sounds and Homer says,

That doesn't work.

And she crumples a piece of paper,

Just kind of like moves some paper around and he just falls asleep and falls over.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was that easy?

So yes,

My book came out.

It's called The Seven Energies of the Soul.

And there is an audiobook version,

It's like four and a half hours long.

So if you want me to put you to sleep by reading my own book,

Then I'll leave the link in the show notes.

And tonight's meditation is about having a soulful sleep.

And we can use my book as maybe some inspiration.

So go ahead and get into bed if you're not already there.

Hopefully you've got your PJs on and your tees are brushed and the lights are off.

You've got just enough blanket.

And you're ready to have a really nice deep sleep.

So eyes closed,

Relax your body.

Make sure you're breathing nice and slowly.

You could feel the pillow behind your head.

Have gratitude for having the pillow,

For the bed,

For the blanket,

For the safe space to sleep.

I was just flipping through the book and there is this chapter on the lover energy.

And in it I share this story about how I was at a meditation retreat.

And thinking back,

I believe I was in India and it was my first 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat.

And in Vipassana retreats you have to meditate all day long,

Get up at like 4.

30 a.

M.

It's pretty rigorous.

And three times a day you have to sit still for an hour doing your best to not move a single muscle.

No scratching,

No twitching,

Nothing.

You know your back starts to hurt.

And I was in one of these meditations and I was feeling so frustrated,

So uncomfortable I really wanted to move.

And I just sat still.

And I let the resistance slowly pass.

I wasn't sure if it was ever going to pass.

But I decided to have a little faith that if I just sat still and didn't fight it,

That it might.

And there came this point where all of the sudden it just all faded away.

All the resistance just faded away.

And there was this deep,

Deep inner stillness,

This deep inner peace.

And I remember getting up from the meditation and walking outside.

I could hear the birds.

The trees looked brighter.

The sky was almost glowing.

And then I realized the trees were always bright.

The birds were always chirping and the sky was always glowing.

It was me that had shifted.

And now I was able to see it.

I was able to see all the magic.

So as you're falling asleep tonight,

As you're letting go of the day and unwinding,

As you release any last resistance to anything that happened today.

I want you to notice there's a magic inside of you.

You're a very special being,

Whether you know it or not.

And it's pretty common that we forget how special we are.

So I'm here to remind you as you fall asleep how special you really are.

Let all the muscles in your body start to relax.

Ease up any tension.

Feel yourself begin to melt into the bed.

Like gravity to start to pull you down.

Tonight I want you to have a soulful sleep.

And what I mean by that is you're not here to knock yourself out.

You could have an almost spiritual sleep,

A productive sleep,

As you fall asleep recognizing the magic inside you.

Allow your body to rest.

Allow your soul to rest.

You begin to notice that every part of your body is connected.

Your entire body is one.

And you're asking it.

You're inviting it to just be.

To just be present in this moment.

You don't have to force it to sleep.

Allow your body to be nice and relaxed.

Allow your body to surrender to this moment.

And inside your body you can feel your soul or we can call it your essence,

Your energy.

The energy that animates your body.

Allow this energy to rest as well.

Allow your energy to be still.

Perhaps tonight your energy needs a healing or to recharge its creativity.

Or to travel and explore while the body sleeps.

As you fall asleep,

Just be honest with exactly what it is that you need.

And in a very intuitive way,

In an energetic way,

Just feel yourself having it.

You don't need to think.

Just feel it.

Sleep is like this soft,

Still invitation just beyond the horizon.

And whenever we get close to it,

Whenever we want to touch it,

We dissolve into it.

And miraculously we come out the other side.

Trust your sleep.

Let yourself dissolve into it.

It's waiting for you.

Turn the lights off on the inside of you.

Your body is in bed.

Now put your soul to sleep as well.

Allow your awareness to dissolve into sleep.

Let yourself return home.

I love you.

Beautiful rest tonight.

Know your own worth and have a very soulful sleep.
