This is your time to sink into stillness.
I know how hard it can be at night when the world finally goes quiet but your mind decides to stay awake.
Replaying moments and memories from the day and looping thoughts which tend to show up the moment your head hits the pillow.
It happens to so many of us and tonight we don't need to fight the thoughts or get frustrated.
We're simply going to guide your mind and body into a calmer quieter place allowing sleep to arrive naturally,
Gently and in its own time.
You're safe,
You're supported and now it's time to lovingly let the day fall away.
Close your eyes and let's start with a deep full breath in and a long slow breath out.
Slowing down the breathing helps the body slip into rest and relaxation mode.
So I invite you to take three more slow easy breaths in and long comfortable breaths out.
Perhaps try breathing in for a count of three or four and breathing out for a count of five or six.
Feel your shoulders lowering,
Your jaw releasing and just let your body relax to help prepare you for a lovely deep sleep.
Let yourself arrive fully into this moment of rest.
Now I want you to imagine a special box beside you.
It can be any design you like,
Ornate,
Glowing,
Wooden,
Modern,
Just something that feels comforting.
This box is here for one purpose only,
To hold anything your mind doesn't want to carry into sleep.
So let's start by placing any to-do lists inside the box.
Imagine all the thoughts of things that didn't get finished today,
Or things that need doing tomorrow,
Just flowing from your mind into your special box.
Now take any worries or thoughts that are looping in your mind and one by one gently place them into the box.
Your thoughts are safe in the box,
It will hold your responsibilities for now.
Nothing is being ignored,
You're simply letting your mind rest and release for a while.
Your mind wants to rest and release just as much as you,
It just needs a little help.
And when you're ready,
Gently close the lid on your box,
Feel the quiet that follows.
Your mind is lighter,
Your heart is softer,
And your body is ready to rest.
I invite you to visualize being surrounded by a bubble of soft white light,
Filled with loving,
Healing energy.
Allow the light to wash over you,
From the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Feel its warmth,
Let it wrap you in a gentle veil of peace and serenity.
Imagine the light slowly entering in through the crown of your head and start to spread across your scalp.
It flows through the forehead and gently circles around the temples and eyes,
Relaxing,
Nurturing and soothing you.
The light gently flows across your cheeks,
Nose and mouth and lingers in the neck and shoulders,
Gently massaging and melting any tension or stiffness,
Until you feel a deep sense of comfort and relaxation.
The light travels into the upper arms and down around the elbows,
Nurturing and softening the muscles,
Tendons and joints as it flows.
It circulates down the forearms and deep into the wrists,
Gently flowing through the palms and along the fingers,
Allowing the hands and arms to feel deeply comfortable and relaxed.
The light now ripples back up the arms and through into the chest and upper back,
Gently nurturing and relaxing you.
This luminous,
Soothing light fills the heart,
Softly glowing and radiating peace,
Love and stillness through the chest.
It travels down your mid-back and gently swirls around your abdomen,
Wrapping you in comfort,
Renewal and ease.
With every breath you take,
The light fills your body with more and more relaxation.
The light moves into your thighs,
Releasing heaviness and dissolving any tension.
It swirls down to your knees and gently wraps around them,
Dissolving any pain or discomfort.
It rolls down the shins and calves,
Leaving behind a sense of lightness and renewal.
The light then meanders down to the ankles and feet,
Creating a deep sense of peace and stillness.
Your entire body is now bathed in light and wrapped in peace and serenity.
Feel your body sinking into the mattress,
Supported,
Completely at ease.
Your breath becomes slower and your mind still,
Like a clear night sky.
If any thoughts start to appear,
Gently place them in the box beside you and let them drift away.
You are floating now,
Peaceful,
Moving towards sleep with every slow,
Steady breath.
There's nothing you need to do.
Sleep is arriving naturally,
Like a tide rolling in,
Steady,
Inevitable.
You may already notice your awareness is beginning to blur around the edges.
Let it happen.
Let yourself drift.
Your whole body is resting beautifully,
You are safe,
Safe to let go,
Safe to rest,
And safe to fall into a deep,
Peaceful sleep.
As you continue to drift,
My voice will gently fade,
So you can surrender completely.
