In moments of anxiety or overwhelm, our bodies can become a whirlwind of uncomfortable sensations. In this short SOS practice, I invite you to gently place your hands over your heart space and validate what you’re feeling. From there, I guide you into one of my favourite resourcing practices - creating new sensations in the body, ones we have agency and autonomy over - by tapping gently across your chest and heart space, at whatever pace or rhythm feels most supportive. You can explore the practice for as long or as little as you like - there is no right or wrong. This is a practice I’ve used for many years. I hope it offers you the same steadiness and grounding it has given me. There is no music or closing bell in this track, but at the very end, you’ll hear the sweet birds in my garden say goodbye. Thank you for being here.

Hello,

My name is Benita If you have pressed play on this practice My guess is that you are experiencing some Discomfort Some anxiety or angst Some overwhelm in your chest I'd love to share a practice with you that supports me in times when I feel those feelings If it feels okay the first thing you might like to do Is place your hands over your heart space And Validate that what you are experiencing right in this moment.

It's valid Without the need to change it Force it to go away Can there be a gentle recognition that this is how things are right now And how you're feeling is valid there is nothing wrong with you You might feel the pressure between your hands your palms and your clothing And your clothing touching the surface of your skin your heart space And You can choose whether to invite in a little more firmness and pressure Or a little more lightness Feelings of tightness restriction constriction within our heart space Those are sensations I find uncomfortable and difficult to sit with So this is a gentle tapping practice That invites our awareness into new sensations New sensations that we are creating through gentle tapping with the tips of our fingers Over our chest heart space collarbones And so whenever you feel ready to begin There's no right or wrong way to do this Bringing your fingertips to your chest your sternum your heart space and Beginning to gently tap In any rhythm any pace You could imagine that your fingertips are skipping dancing all over your chest Letting your awareness rest on the vibration that you are creating That feeling of tingling aliveness You might tune into the sounds that you are creating As your fingers sprinkle all across your chest and heart space And as much as possible inviting your awareness to Land and anchor in these new feelings and sensations Ones that you are creating You are in control of the pace the pressure You can decide when your body has had enough Feeling into a rhythm that feels useful and supportive Maybe the fingers are all tapping together Maybe your left hand and your right hand are tapping a little differently There's no right or wrong Exploring what feels useful what feels supportive for you today?

Knowing you can linger here for as long as you like But whenever your body says I think that's enough Letting go of that dancing of your fingertips across your heart space Tuning into these new sensations you have created Maybe this awakened energy aliveness a buzzing The shift in temperature Recognizing acknowledging Anything that you can feel and sense any subtle shifts or changes This Is a gentle resourcing practice that you can return to time and time again Instead of pushing and striving Wanting feelings of angst and discomfort to go away or disappear Or trying to tell yourself not to feel a certain way Instead Having this agency Having this autonomy creating new sensations in your body Reminding you that what you are feeling and experiencing right in this moment It's valid It's part of being a human being experiencing this full spectrum of feeling and emotion Inviting you to be excessively gentle with yourself Knowing that you can return to this practice Welcoming in new sensation Anytime that you choose And the beautiful birds say they're sweet goodbye We are wishing you well take good good care and I hope to practice together again really soon

Lovely practice Benita, thank you 💙. I felt really heard when validating my feelings and sensations. "Excessive gentleness" is such a good mantra!
