Just take a moment to arrive.
Gently.
Just slowly taking your time.
Find your comfy space,
Warm and cozy,
And just allow your body to just soften a little.
Into the surface beneath you.
Feel your shoulders dropping down.
Your jaw is softening and your breath feel it moving naturally in.
And out.
Without effort.
And simply notice.
How long you may have been carrying tension.
Without fully realizing it.
Moving through the world,
It's sometimes as if your body has forgotten how to completely rest.
So for now,
This is a space.
Where you can slow down.
A space where nothing is being demanded from you.
Just a space to gently return to yourself.
In your own time.
Let's talk a little bit about your adrenal glands now.
They are resting just above your kidneys,
Like two small protective caps.
And these are the adrenal glands.
They are small,
But yet deeply involved in your body's response to stress.
So these glands really help to release hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol and prepare the body to respond during moments of challenge or danger.
So they can increase alertness,
Raise your energy,
And help us survive difficult moments.
So they are trying to protect us.
Responding carefully to the signals they receive.
And doing their best to help your body cope.
With what feels overwhelming.
But sometimes after long periods of stress or emotional strain.
Your body sometimes forgets that it is allowed to soften again.
So many people.
Move through life carrying an invisible sense of urgency.
And this means that your nervous system remains slightly braced even in those quiet moments.
Thoughts might move quickly,
Sleep becomes lighter,
And the body is staying watchful as though it must always be prepared for what comes next.
And after a while,
This constant alertness can become exhausting.
Not because you are we.
But because your body was never meant to remain in this survival mode.
And even the strongest nervous system needs moments of safety,
Moments of stillness.
And moments where the body realizes.
I no longer need to be so tight right now.
And there is something deeply human in this.
The way we learn to stay strong.
The way we hold ourselves together even during difficult seasons of life.
We carry responsibilities,
Emotions.
Uncertainty.
Often without fully noticing the weight of it all.
Strength does not always have to look like endurance.
Sometimes strength.
Must look like softening.
Like allowing yourself to pause.
To breathe.
To stop asking your body to remain in flight or fight mode.
Long after the danger has passed.
And there is a quiet intelligence within you that knows how to return towards balance,
Especially when given gentleness instead of pressure.
And as Thich Nhat Hanh once wrote,
Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile.
But sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy.
And perhaps calm can begin in small ways too.
One softer breath.
On shoulder relaxed.
One moment where your body feels safe enough to let go,
Even slightly.
So now just see yourself standing beside a quiet lake at dusk.
The air is cool and still around you.
The water here is calm,
Reflecting the fading light of the sky.
There is nowhere to rush towards here.
No demands waiting for you.
No need to stay constantly alert.
So as you stand beside this water.
You are gently setting down everything.
That you have been carrying.
Those responsibilities,
Those worries,
Those expectations.
And just feel your body slowly beginning to realize.
It no longer needs to hold everything so tightly.
And so with each breath.
Just feel calm spreading through your nervous system.
Like ripples across still water.
Take a deep breath in.
And as you let go,
Allow your shoulders to soften,
Your chest eases.
Another breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Your belly is unclenching,
Letting go,
Softening.
And your body as you take these breaths in.
And out,
Letting go of stress and tension.
Remembers.
What safety feels like.
So breathing softly here.
Just allow yourself to rest for a few moments within this gentleness.
Breathe in.
.
.
Pause.
A smooth breath out.
Pausing at the bottom.
Feeling the stillness there.
Add a few more breaths in your own time.
Breathe in.
Pause for a moment and breathe out letting go.
Pause,
Feel the stillness.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Letting go of stress or tension,
Softening,
Releasing.
And now slowly resume your natural breathing pattern.
And remember that you don't need to solve everything.
You don't need to carry every tomorrow all at once,
Because for now,
This very moment.
Is enough.
Your breath.
Is enough.
And your body has been waiting for this kind of kindness all along.
And that is the softness,
The space,
The permission to rest.
Just take a moment to reflect.
On how you feel now.
In your body,
In your senses.
In this moment.
Right now.
Wonderful.
Just take a slightly deeper breath now.
And a longer,
Slower exhale.
Notice the surface beneath you,
The steadiness that is supporting you here.
And carry this gentle reminder.
That your body is communicating.
It's asking for care.
Asking for balance.
And asking to feel safe enough to soften once more.
So as you gently return now,
Slowly and softly,
Just roll your shoulders if that feels good.
Give yourself a gentle stretch.
Softly open your eyes in your own time.
And really,
Thank yourself.
Forgiving yourself this time.
To pause,
To soften.
To become calm.
And to allow your nervous system to rest.
Namaste,
My friend.
