Welcome to White Clouds,
Green Mountains,
A Journey into Tao Wisdom.
As Hongsi Zenju once said.
The white clouds are fascinated with the green mountain's foundation.
The bright moon cherishes being carried along with the flowing water.
And somewhere at this very moment.
A white cloud is drifting across a green mountain.
It is in no hurry.
Isn't trying to rise higher than the mountain or leave it behind.
It simply moves with the unseen currents of the wind.
Quietly drawn to the mountain's enduring presence.
And blue.
The mountain stands as it always has.
Steady.
Rooted.
Untroubled by passing weather.
Maybe the cloud wonders about the mountain's deep foundations.
That's the strength hidden beneath the surface.
Quiet patience.
That has allowed it to remain through changing seasons,
Fierce storms,
Warm summers,
And gentle winters.
Maybe the mountain delights in this cloud's gentle company.
The cloud is content to remain where softness meets strength.
It has no destination to prove.
No race to win.
It simply belongs to the moment.
Moving naturally in rhythm.
As life invites it onward.
The mountain does not ask the cloud to stay.
And the cloud does not ask the mountain to move.
There is no struggle between them.
No attempt to become one another.
Instead.
Each quietly reveals something beautiful about the other.
Because the mountain reveals the cloud's lightness.
And the cloud reveals the mountain's stillness.
Without saying a single word.
They remind us that life is not always asking us to become something different.
Sometimes,
It simply invites us to become more deeply ourselves.
It is easy to believe.
But strength must always look like effort.
Yet,
The mountain teaches another kind of strength.
A quiet steadiness that does not need recognition.
It's a presence that is not shaken by every passing change.
The cloud,
Meanwhile,
Offers a different wisdom.
Because it reminds us that there is also strength in gentleness.
In allowing ourselves to move with life's changing winds rather than resisting every shift.
And the cloud never loses itself by drifting.
It simply discovers new skies.
And now,
Our attention is drawn to another beautiful image as the night falls.
It's a bright moon rising into the darkening sky.
And below it,
A river quietly winds its way through the landscape.
The moon does not cling to the water.
Nor does the river try to hold the moon.
The flowing water receives the moon's reflection with quiet gratitude.
Carrying its beautiful silver light downstream.
Sometimes the reflection is perfectly clear.
And other times a breeze may scatter it into a thousand dancing fragments.
And yet,
The moon itself remains beautifully unchanged.
So,
When our lives feel unsettled,
We sometimes imagine that we,
Too,
Have become fragmented.
We mistake the ripples of experience for our true nature.
But maybe we are more like the moon.
Our circumstances may change.
Our emotions may rise and fall.
Our thoughts may ripple across the surface of our awareness.
Yet beneath it all,
Something within us remains quietly whole.
And this is one of the gentle invitations of the Tao.
Not to resist change,
Not to chase permanence.
But to trust that life already knows how to move.
And the cloud does not ask where the wind will take it.
The river does not argue with its bends.
And the moon does not fear the passing clouds that briefly hide its light.
Each participates in the great unfolding of life.
Without forcing,
Without clinging,
Without losing its own nature.
And maybe we can meet uncertainty with a little more curiosity.
Allow ourselves to soften where we might have become rigid.
While also discovering the quiet foundations that have always supported us.
There may be moments to stand like the mountain.
Their baby moments to drift like the clouds.
And there may be moments to flow like the river.
And some moments might simply remember the light of the moon.
That has never truly left us.
The Tao,
It invites us to live in harmony with what is.
To discover that stillness and movement are not opposite.
Strength and gentleness are not opposites.
And letting go and belonging are not opposites either.
Like the cloud and the mountain,
Like the moon and the river.
Each finds its meaning in relationship.
Maybe that is the quiet secret whispered by the natural world every single day.
Everything belongs.
Everything has its season.
And everything is already finding its beautiful way.
So take a gentle step into the Tao.
So take a moment to reflect.
And when you have felt harmony.
And you have felt rhythm.
When you have felt.
Everything is finding its way.
Thank you so much for joining me on this Tao reflection.
Until the next time.
Namaste,
My friend.
