Hi friend Before you begin this meditation be sure to have a pen and journal nearby so you can use the time given to jot down your thoughts If you don't have a journal,
That's okay.
Just grab some paper or If you prefer to do everything in your mind,
That's okay,
Too Whatever works for you will be fine Find a comfortable position for you Seated lying down Whatever feels best And just let yourself settle into the space around you Begin to notice your breath Gently lengthening your inhales and exhales And when you're ready Let your eyes fall closed if that feels okay As your breaths continue to lengthen and smooth out Notice the points of contact between your body and whatever surface is holding you Notice the strength of that surface Find comfort in the safety it provides Feel yourself take root in this space this moment take a deep breath in and Exhale Relaxing your jaw and the space between your eyebrows another deep breath in and exhale Letting your shoulders drop away from your ears And settling into your space just a bit more Feel your chest open up as it expands each breath And I invite you to place your hands over your heart if that's comfortable for you As we approach the turn of the year many of us find ourselves jumping to set New Year's resolutions our goals But so often we forget to take a moment to reflect on the past year As you continue to settle into this moment imagine yourself in front of a large screen Maybe it's a large modern theater with reclining seats Or perhaps a historical cinema or maybe even a projector screen in your backyard Whatever setting feels right for you and as the projector starts up Begin to see the moments of your past year play out across the screen What goals did you achieve?
What moments made you proud?
Did you meet anyone along the way that had an impact on your year or brought joy into your life?
Let those memories flash across the screen and Just soak them in When you're ready softly open your eyes and Reach for your journal take a moment to write down these moments you saw on the screen If you need more time simply pause the meditation here and come back when you're ready Once you're ready,
I invite you to set your journal aside and settle back into your space Placing your hands over your heart Again,
Only if that feels okay Take a deep breath in and Exhale Continuing to deepen and smooth your breaths And allow yourself to drift back into a meditative state Imagine yourself back at your screen in whatever setting you choose Begin to see the upcoming year play out in front of you What memories do you want to have this time next year?
How do you want to feel in 12 months time?
What intentions do you have for the next 365 days?
Once again softly blink open your eyes and reach for your journal Take this moment to write down.
Whatever you saw on the screen and The feelings you had when thinking about this next year When you're ready Set your journal aside Place your hands over your heart once more take a deep breath in and Exhale If you would like let your eyes fall closed once more and continue to slowly breathe in and Exhale Just focusing on your breath Remember that each year will always be filled with ups and downs light and dark Moments that we wish we could relive over and over and ones that we hope to never experience again breathe deep and Acknowledge that this will always be the case Exhale and Settle into the comfort of knowing that it's what you choose to focus on that will set the tone for your life year after year your perspective your attitude Your response to these moments is the only thing you can control When you're ready Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes Coming back into your body Notice the subtle shift within yourself the clarity around the year you just had And the one you desire to have take a deep breath in and Exhale Blinking open your eyes My hope is that you carry this sense of serenity and clarity with you throughout the upcoming year And I'm sending you all the light and love my friend
