Find a space and position that's comfortable,
Perhaps seated or lying down,
And as you drop into this moment,
Begin to gently notice your breath without making any changes,
And when you're ready,
Let your eyes drift closed if that feels okay.
As you continue to settle,
I invite you to place your hands over your heart,
Or maybe wrap your arms around yourself in a soft embrace if that's comfortable,
And take a deep breath in and sighing exhale from your mouth.
Remember that you are stronger than you think.
You have faced challenges in the past and always came out on the other side of them.
None of these challenges you have faced before have stopped you,
And this will not be the thing to break you.
I know that when you're in the middle,
It can feel overwhelming and like your world could come crashing down around you at any moment.
Pema Chodron says,
When things are shaky and nothing is working,
We might realize that we are on the verge of something.
Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing.
We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem,
But the truth is that things don't really get solved.
They come together and they fall apart,
Then they come together again and fall apart again.
It's just like that.
The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen.
Room for grief,
For relief,
For misery,
For joy.
What if you are on the verge of something greater now?
What if the challenge you are facing is preparing you for something greater?
Take one more deep breath in through your nose and exhale,
And slowly begin to come back into your body,
Maybe wiggling your fingers and toes,
Gently becoming aware of your surroundings.
And when you're ready,
Blink your eyes open if they were closed.
There you are.
You've got this.
