Find a position,
Maybe seated or perhaps lying down,
And settle into the space around you.
Rest your hands in your lap or place them over your heart,
Whatever feels right for you in this moment.
And as you settle,
Let your eyes fall closed if that feels okay.
Take a moment to release the tension from your body.
Maybe roll your shoulders,
Unclench your jaw,
And soften the space between your eyebrows.
Gently begin to notice your breath without making any changes.
Consider that when we take our first steps,
They are shaky and uncertain.
That as children,
We fail many times before we learn to walk.
You are now taking those first steps again.
These steps may be shaky and you may stumble,
But remember that only time and experience can help make new things familiar.
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
Another deep breath in and exhale.
Repeat either out loud or in your mind,
I am just beginning,
I am not finished.
I am just beginning,
I am not finished.
I am just beginning,
I am not finished.
Take one more deep breath in through your nose and exhale out of your mouth.
Let your breath return to a natural rhythm and slowly begin to come back into your body.
Maybe wiggling your fingers and toes.
Gently begin to become aware of your surroundings and when you are ready,
Open your eyes if they were closed.
You are just beginning,
You are not finished.
