Hello everyone,
My name is Steve Bisscher and I'm so happy that you are here with me today and with each and every one of us that has listened to this meditation.
There's a sense of community that does exist that's beyond space and time and that is the magic that brings healing,
That brings change,
It brings a new perception.
I hope you can feel that energy within this meditation and the way that we access that is to simply shift our focus to quiet our thoughts,
To quiet our feelings and to connect with the silence.
My friend Lucia Lewis sent me this note,
This message,
It's a story and I found it to be fitting.
It starts off,
Master,
Please teach me an easy way to meditate.
And the Master replies,
Okay,
Sit down comfortably.
Ready?
Say these words,
I tell you slowly.
And the person responds,
Okay,
What are they?
To which the Master says,
I am meditating.
I am meditating.
The student responds,
I am meditating.
And the Master says slower.
The student responds,
I am meditating.
Slower still,
Says the Master.
I am meditating.
But even slower,
Said the Master.
I am meditating.
The Master responds,
Now just the first two words very slowly.
I am good,
Responds the Master.
Just the first word,
Very,
Very slowly.
I.
The Master responded,
Getting close now.
Same slowness,
No words at all.
After some time,
The student responds,
But Master,
I simply sat still,
Didn't say a word,
For many,
Many minutes.
My mind was just completely empty.
What do you call that?
Success responded the Master.
I hope that you contemplate that idea.
I notice that there is an immense power in the words that we choose to use,
Especially when they are behind the two I am.
We have a subconscious which is the same.
We have a subconscious within us and no matter what we say,
It seeks,
Our subconscious seeks to create the life,
The identity,
The existence that we want,
That we choose.
That is our freedom of choice.
And we are whatever we say we are.
We see whatever we believe we believe is there.
And that is the mystery of this existence.
The moment that you see that you can be,
You can do,
You can live whatever life you choose to live,
There is no difference between you and any other.
That you have every capability,
Every bit of what you need within you.
Then you can achieve whatever it is that you seek to achieve.
There is no right or wrong because you are the one determining what is that judgment.
Sometimes those feelings are brought,
You know,
From childhood,
From what we learned in education or training.
But it is still your understanding,
It's your belief system that makes that meaning to be true.
So this meditation is going to focus on attaching to nothing,
Which is release.
It's letting go of it's letting go of any need for,
Any justification of,
Any meaning that we seek.
It ties into the first meditation that I gave of greeting things new and recognizing our thoughts.
The second this meditation is embracing the silence.
The moment that we are quiet,
The answer may come to us.
So we will start as we always do start,
Which is shifting our focus.
The most proven effective method for that is in our breathing,
Focusing on our breath.
The very essence that sustains us.
As you're breathing,
Continue with the square breathing,
Breathing in through your nose,
Holding,
Breathing out through your mouth,
And holding again.
Each time,
Noticing the sensations.
Letting go on the out breath and just being curious on the in breath.
As you notice,
As you breathe in,
As you release,
As you breathe out,
Become aware of how you are feeling.
Become aware of the sensations that are coming through your body and notice any shift or any change that happens to them as time goes along.
Any thoughts that come up,
Any feelings or emotions,
Simply release them with your out breath.
Noticing that every experience is a perception.
As you continue to breathe,
My friends,
Even let the sound of my voice fade away into nothing.
Allowing any thought to follow those words.
To simply allow,
For quiet,
Brothers and sisters in this BOH Tanner Children toast,
For quiet to exist.
Continuing to breathe.
Taking all the time you need to let go of any feeling,
Any thought.
Recognize that some things that we take into our mind do not have a simple solution.
If it doesn't bring us peace,
If it doesn't bring us what we are seeking,
Simply let it go.
As you connect to the silence,
As you connect to the very core of who you are,
Imagine shifting from breathing in air to simply breathing in light,
To breathing in energy.
And notice how that energy fills your body,
Fills every cell.
Notice that any tension that's in your body is releasing,
Starting off the very top of your head.
You probably feel it in your neck at this moment.
Allow yourself to simply relax every muscle.
If we were to do a progressive scan,
Start with the crown of your head.
Notice any tension that exists within it.
As you focus on that crown,
Bring a little tension to it,
Tightening those muscles,
And then relaxing them again,
Noticing that you feel almost like a warmth or a sensation,
Tingling possibly any sensation that comes to you or none at all,
And that you feel more relaxed.
Noticing that even at the base of the skull that there is possibly some tension.
Just tighten those muscles slightly and then release them.
Noticing any heat,
Noticing any tingling,
Noticing any sensation at all or none at all.
And then going down to those very muscles on the sides of your neck,
The ones that hold your head up,
That work non-stop every day,
And notice any sensation that you feel there.
Go on to tighten those muscles and then release them.
And noticing any shifts,
Any noises,
Any tingling,
Any sensation at all.
And notice how much better it feels.
And now go to the very base of the neck where your shoulders start and your neck ends.
And notice those muscles may carry a tremendous amount of tension,
Of stress.
Imagining those muscles relaxing,
Put a little bit of tightness into them,
Flexing them,
And then letting them relax.
As you relax,
Bringing your awareness back to your breath,
And noticing that as you breathe in,
Hold,
And breathe out,
That you feel the relaxation flowing through your neck muscles in all of the areas that you have relaxed so far.
Feel that spreading throughout your body,
Enjoyable,
Positive,
Healing.
As you experience that,
Just move your awareness from your shoulders,
Relaxing,
Continuing to let go,
And notice your arms.
Feeling any sensation that's in your arms,
Noticing any areas that need healing within your body,
Within your arms,
Or anywhere else.
Tightening those muscles,
And then relaxing again and feeling almost as though there's a pulse,
Like a wave.
Notice the relaxation is coming through.
Now focusing on your hands,
You can even go to make a clench of fist,
And then you let it go,
Opening your fingers,
Wiggling your fingers,
And feeling any sensation returning to them,
Tingling,
Warmth,
Healing.
Now notice your chest.
Continuing to breathe in,
Noticing that you are filling your abdomen first,
Moving it up through your chest,
Holding,
And then releasing.
As you release,
Release any tension that is in your chest,
And any tension that is in your abdomen.
Continuing to breathe and noticing any sensation that is coming to you,
Or no sensation at all.
Now noticing your hips,
Your legs,
Both tightening and releasing,
And feeling a wave moving through your body,
From the head all the way down to your legs,
Even moving down to your feet.
Feeling that relaxation just reaching every part of your body,
And as it moves through your feet,
As you clench your feet,
And let them go,
Remember the gratitude for your body,
All of the work that is done,
The walking,
The movement,
The muscles,
And offer gratitude to every muscle,
Every cell within your body,
Even those cells that that may be needing a little extra attention,
Ones that could use some love and healing,
Thanking those cells for being there,
And thanking your body for all the tireless work that it does.
As you notice that you are more relaxed,
Go ahead and move your neck,
Move your muscles,
Move around to just feel that blood flowing,
The oxygen within your body,
And to make peace with this moment,
This time.
As you continue to breathe,
Focus on relaxing more,
Letting go of any feeling,
Any thought,
Any need for things to be different than they are,
And connect to the silence.
Even if there is noise going on around you,
Notice that there is silence in between.
The silence exists within you and does not depend on anything outside.
As you connect to this state of rest,
The state of being,
Know that you have everything that you need within you for the life that you choose.
As you continue this meditation,
As you continue finding the quiet,
Know that anything that you seek is already within you.
It'll come to you the more that you practice the quietness.
It sounds harder than it is,
But it is easier than you can imagine.
The moment that you quit trying,
The silence will be there,
The answers will come.
The question is,
Why do we bring forward these thoughts,
These feelings?
Why are we attached to them?
The moment you know why you are attached,
Why you are seeking meaning or sharing with others understanding,
The moment you release that need,
You will have peace.
The tension will melt away and you will have a life of calm.
You will still be able to accomplish anything that you set your mind to,
But you don't have to have that anxiety or that stress that goes with it.
Just one last thought before we leave,
And that is that anxiety and excitement are twins.
You can lead a life of amazing excitement by simply adding a little bit of connection.
That is what makes excitement so much more.
I appreciate you all,
My name is Steve Bisscher and this meditation is concluded.
