Hello,
My name is Samantha Archibald of Zayoga and I wanted to take a little time to remind you of the harmony that comes from just coming into a seat.
So let's start by coming into a comfortable seat.
This will vary for each of us.
Maybe you sit on a chair or on the floor,
But wherever you feel comfortable sitting,
Let's begin to move the body from side to side,
Giving the lumbar a nice long stretch.
As we roll the shoulders back and take a nice deep inhale in.
And then exhale it out.
Again inhaling deeply.
And exhaling it out.
And as you begin to slow the breath down,
You soften.
You soften around the shoulders and you begin to steady your breath and relax the muscles.
As you become more and more comfortable in your seat,
You begin to feel the sit bones grounding you into the earth,
Which gives you a feeling of stability as it roots down and makes you feel steady.
So I have learned that we need and desire two things in life.
One is to feel grounded,
Which is the feeling of security and stability.
The other is that we want to feel free.
So when we come to our seat and we ground our sit bones,
We also lengthen our spine and lift the crown of the head towards the sky.
And this allows us to let go at that moment and sense the freedom,
The ability to discover and explore in this present moment.
And it's funny because it is a contradiction.
How could we be stable,
Grounded,
And yet still be free?
We need both.
That's what brings harmony.
Because if we were too grounded,
We are then very set in our ways.
We limit ourselves from experiences of freedom.
And what is freedom?
Trying new adventures,
New ideas.
Instead we stay the same and we're limited.
That's not the way to live life.
And at the same time,
If we come across too free,
We appear to be all over the place,
Scattered and unable to make decisions.
So we don't want to have one extreme over the other.
We want a balance of the two.
A sense of calm and stability,
Yet liberating and boundless.
And that is where we find our harmony.
So we come to our seat.
We ground into our sit bones,
Rooting down,
Feeling ourselves stable,
Centered,
With our spine long.
And we take a deep breath in,
Feeling the crown of the head lifting as we breathe in.
And as we exhale,
We become light and free.
So this chair or this cross legged or even better,
Buddha seat that we create for ourselves,
Represents the balance of grounding ourselves and setting ourselves free.
So as you sit tall and you feel light and we open ourselves to something greater,
Never lose sight of the feeling of being grounded,
But open your heart and let go and connect to the harmony that comes from within.
So take a moment here and allow that to happen.
Take a moment here quietly as you free yourself,
Yet ground yourself.
Let go of the.
