Start your day the right way by turning your morning coffee into an act of mindful worship. This track will gently guide you through the process of letting go of all extraneous thoughts, moods, and emotions, in exchange for a focus on the present moment. You will be encouraged to feel the warmth, smell the aroma, and listen, see, and taste the deliciousness that arises throughout the process of making your coffee. You will be gently guided to examine your inner world as you anticipate your first sip, as well as encouraged to foster gratitude over the complex, and often taken-for-granted, processes it took to enable this all to happen. If you are looking to add some extra mindfulness into your day or to foster a deeper appreciation for your cup of coffee, this track, and its follow-up, are for you. (In my track, 'Morning Brew: Your Mindful Cup Of Coffee', I guide you through drinking your coffee, check it out!)

Hello,

And welcome to session one of Morning Brew,

Making Your Coffee.

I invite you to take a slow,

Calm breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Just calmly head on over to wherever it is you make your coffee.

We're going to go through the process with mindful focus,

With purpose,

With love.

Now yes,

We will have made ourselves a beautiful,

Delicious cup of coffee,

But our goal isn't to rush.

Our goal isn't to get there.

We're using the creation of our coffee as a meditation,

And we're just going to be here throughout the process,

Present,

Aware,

Grounded,

And just injecting love into our morning.

So as you start to gather what you need to create your coffee,

I just want to let you know then,

This warm cup of coffee that you're creating in this meditation is a small gift you are giving to yourself.

It's an act of self-care and love,

And a small sign that you're committing yourself to your highest purpose,

Whatever that means for you today.

So just take your time with it.

Breathe,

Listen to the sounds of its creation,

And watch as the raw ingredients are transformed.

Smell the process,

Feel your anticipation growing.

Do not rush,

Just be here,

Now,

Present to the process.

The creation of the coffee is the meditation,

As you're moving through the process,

Do so mindfully,

Not by rote,

But with focused,

Purposeful action.

Just take a moment to consider how you came to acquire the coffee,

And the machine by which you're creating it.

The cup,

The spoon,

The milk,

The water,

The fact that you can have this cup of coffee is testament to a wide-reaching global network of fellow travellers,

All working together,

Creating a supply chain,

All the way from a farm,

To a water catchment,

To a factory,

This entire process,

All working together,

Is cumulating in the cup of coffee you are creating for yourself.

There's a level of gratitude we can feel for the fact that that whole system exists,

And now,

Just draw your attention to your senses,

Notice what you can see,

The colour of the coffee,

And how it transforms if you add milk.

Notice the smells,

The aroma wafting up to your nose,

And the anticipation it's causing.

Feel,

Feel the warmth of the water,

The coldness of the milk,

The feel of the coffee machines,

The cup,

The spoon,

The utensils,

If you're adding sugar,

Listen to the tinkle of the spoon against the ridge of the cup,

Watch as it dissolves into the fluid,

As you move through the process of making your cup of coffee,

Listen,

What sounds can you hear,

Perhaps it's a kettle boiling,

Or coffee beans being ground,

Listen as you pour,

And watch the changing patterns in your cup,

And if you find your mind wandering to future plans,

Just gently acknowledge them,

And return your focus back to lovingly creating your coffee.

There'll be plenty of time later on,

But right now,

Just be here,

In this moment,

Making your coffee.

Once you've made it,

I invite you to take a seat,

And take a deep,

Slow breath,

In through the nose,

Out through the mouth,

And just invite you to join me in session two,

Where we will mindfully drink our coffee together,

I'll see you there.
