Hello and welcome to today's Good Talking To.
In today's session we're going to be taking a look at what happens when somebody says something to you which causes cortisol to flood your body and leave you feeling very upset and hurt.
And I don't know about you but I can very easily take what other people have to say and place their opinions above my own.
And this is where giving yourself a good talking to has to come into it.
And it is by remembering the truth of who I am and remembering that we all struggle.
But that the real suffering is caused not by what other people say but by what we then choose to believe and say to ourselves.
There are many stress-inducing situations.
For example,
Even just whilst recording this podcast,
I've had the telephone ring,
I've had a neighbour require me to help them gain entry to their flat,
And I've had a delivery at the window.
All whilst trying to be sat here present to what it is that I am saying.
Thankfully I am able to see the irony in this situation.
And this is why we meditate and this is why we need to keep giving ourselves a good talking to.
We don't know what other people are going through.
And particularly at this time of much heightened stress and fear.
It is even more important that we walk a mile in the other person's shoes,
Gain the perspective of perhaps their suffering.
And then remind ourselves that right here in this moment,
Everything is fine.
And with that said,
It is time for today's good talking to.
So please sit back,
Relax and allow me to remind you of who you really are.
I trust myself.
I have good values.
I clean up my mistakes.
I don't intentionally hurt anybody.
I am calm.
I am peace.
I value myself.
There is nothing wrong.
Everything is unfolding exactly as it is meant to be.
Just keep bringing yourself back to your breath.
Keep coming back to what's inside of you.
The truth,
The truth of who you really are.
That you are love.
I accept myself the way I am.
I forgive myself for making mistakes.
I learn from my mistakes.
I am a great parent and my children get all the parenting that they need from me.
I have come a very long way and I am so much better than I used to be.
I'm stronger than I believe and I've got this.
I am proactive and self-disciplined and I always achieve the right goals.
I am exactly where I need to be right now.
I listen to my intuition and make proactive decisions.
So when life causes us stressful situations or presents stressful situations to us,
It really is our choice as to whether we add more stress onto those stressful situations with our thinking.
We can become frazzled purely because we are dwelling on things,
Ruminating about things,
Allowing things to go round and round inside of our head.
We take the power away from ourselves.
We cause ourselves the suffering.
One of the greatest antidotes to this is,
Of course,
Gratitude for all of the things that we've got going on in our lives which aren't causing us stress,
That we can forget about because we become so focused in on what is causing us stress and how to fix it.
And it may be that there's nothing to fix.
It may be that we just need to take a step back to reflect upon the situation,
To get curious and see what we may need to learn from it.
And when we have established that we have done everything that we can in order to rectify the situation,
Then it is time to let go.
And remember who we are.
God has got us.
And by surrendering myself through prayer,
Meditation and exercise,
I have the courage to forgive and be connected to my joy and use my gifts to see and hear vulnerable people,
Inspiring them to fully express themselves.
So I hope that you are able to forgive yourself for any misdemeanors and to fully embrace and love yourself.
I'm giving you a big,
Warm,
Fuzzy hug and sending you so,
So much love.
Till next time,
Namaste.
