Sometimes upon waking, we don't have the greatest of thoughts. This practice helps you to acknowledge those thoughts and transmute them into a powerful start to your day. It is good for adults and children alike. I will be putting music behind it at a later date. I would love to read your comments either on the meditation itself or your suggestion of music/nature sounds to go behind it. I wish you a beautiful day and much love.

This is a morning meditation designed to help you put your mind into the right mindset so that you can have a wonderful day.

The sun is slowly rising on another beautiful day.

It might not feel like that just yet though,

But that's okay.

First we're going to take a few deeper than usual breaths.

So when you're ready,

Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And another one,

Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And the last one,

Really feel your shoulders and your whole body relaxing as you breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And just allow your breathing to return to its normal pattern.

And as you're doing this,

You might have found that several thoughts popping through your head,

Some of which might not be entirely helpful.

Thoughts such as,

Oh,

This bed's really nice and I don't want to get up or,

Oh,

I don't really want to go to work.

Oh,

I can't face school.

School sucks.

I'll just lie here a little bit longer.

And that's okay.

Just acknowledge those thoughts and thank your mind.

Say thank you,

Mind.

Thanks for sharing.

And then turn your attention to something else.

Notice your attention where you want to go.

It might be that you could think about somebody that you are seeing later.

Or there's a project that actually you're quite looking forward to getting your teeth stuck into.

Or maybe the thoughts of that shower and the water falling all over you,

Waking you up and refreshing you.

Or maybe just bringing your attention back to the breath.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Thank you,

Mind.

Thanks for sharing.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Let's just practice that for a few moments.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Thank you,

Mind.

Thanks for sharing.

And now imagine you're at the bottom of five steps.

It could be inside,

It could be outside.

But at the top of the steps is the beginning of your day.

It could be a door that you open,

It could be coming out from underground into the beautiful sunlight,

Walking onto a beach.

Wherever it is,

It's just opening onto your day.

And we're going to count slowly backwards from five.

Going up a step with each breath and count.

And when we get to the top,

We're going to fully embrace that open space,

That open door.

We're going to walk through it,

Walk out.

I have a lovely stretch,

We're going to gently open our eyes,

Smile to the universe and say thank you.

And then give ourselves a big hug and get up.

Okay,

Ready?

So breathing in and out on our fifth step.

Moving up a step for four,

Breathing in and out.

Moving up to three,

Breathing in and out.

Up to two,

Breathing in and out.

And up to one,

Breathing in and out.

And have a big stretch.

Oh yeah,

That feels good.

Thank you for listening.

Thank you for joining in.

Thank you,

Universe.

Have a big hug.

Giving you lots and lots of love.

And I hope you have a beautiful,

Fantastic day.

Thank you.

Namaste.

Outstanding! I always look for morning practices that actually help pry myself out of bed. Typically this means a lot of upbeat music, or drumming, or anything to flip the switch in my brain. I generally listen on the first pass, then listen again and take part in the practice. Not so here! I couldn't stop smiling as I listened; the things I was "thinking" actually are my most common morning thoughts, and the strategy employed is one I recently heard of, just a few days ago. WOW, is it effective for me! I ended up actually following along with this from the start of the first listen. I want to be a bit grumpy that it worked so well (I was looking forward to additional sleep this morning), but considering the things I have planned for today, I now feel pretty eager to get started. (I might take an afternoon nap, however.) I'm not sure if the extra ~45 seconds of dead air at the end is meant to serve a particular purpose. Given that the practice fully and satisfyingly concludes before that, I suppose it doesn't really matter. The down-to-earth humor, cuing sounds for each movement (I especially adore the stretch at the end - that's what finally got me up and alert), and vocal inflection on the fantastic text combined to make this a track I have bookmarked and downloaded already. I expect I will be using it often. I found myself thinking (again) that I wish Insight Timer would finally get the playlist feature set up and/or let us manually order our bookmarked or downloaded tracks so we can more quickly find the ones we want. Especially during a groggy morning after the alarm has gone off! Thank you so very much for sharing your gifts and this amazing practice with us here in the Insight Timer community. I see the rising of the blazing starlight within you. 🀲🏻❀️🀲🏻
