Once upon a time,
There was a wily old coyote,
And the wily old coyote was feeling a bit on the peckish side.
Trouble is,
There was nothing left to eat where he lived.
So he went outside and went on a long journey to try and find some food.
Through the meadows,
Through the forests,
And around and around he went,
All the way up to the top of a mountain,
And then back down the other side.
And just when he was giving up hope,
He saw the road runner.
And so he scampered after that old road runner,
And he was chasing and he was chasing and around and around they went.
Until eventually he realised he was never going to catch this road runner,
And he basically sat down and he started to cry.
He felt lonely.
He felt very hungry.
And he didn't know what to do.
Then the road runner,
Who had been watching curiously,
Head tilted to one side,
All of a sudden came out and approached the wily old coyote and said,
Meep meep,
I can help.
And the wily old coyote looked and said,
Why do you want to help me?
I've just been chasing you.
I haven't got the energy to chase you anymore.
And the road runner says,
Meep meep,
I know where to find some food.
Tell you what,
Why don't we go together?
And so the wily old coyote looks at this and he has to think,
Now do I want immediate gratification and to try and take a chunk out of this old road runner's leg?
Or shall I go for the long haul and embrace this new found friendship and just hope that the road runner has got some lovely food for him at the end of the journey?
He decided that friendship and food was vastly more important than the potential for one measly little bite,
Which given the fact that he'd been chasing him for ages,
Wasn't likely to happen anyway.
Still feeling a little bit defeated though,
The wily coyote stands up and the road runner goes,
Meep meep,
Follow me.
And they set off.
It's not long before the coyote is like,
Oh,
I'm tired.
I can't do this.
I'm never going to make it.
And the road runner comes back,
Looks at the coyote and goes,
Meep,
Of course you will.
Just keep going.
Take a deep breath.
Fill yourself with loads of positive energy.
Breathe into every single tired muscle and put a smile on your face.
I can do it.
I can do it.
I can do it.
I can can do it.
And then the coyote got up and that was it.
Off they went.
And with the music that he could hear in his head,
The can can was playing and he thought I can can do this.
And they made it.
Yes,
The road runner was right.
They came across a beautiful orchard filled with the most succulent,
Delicious apples and all the other foods that the coyote loves to eat,
Especially carrots.
So together they sat and they stuffed themselves full of all these wonderful foods.
And for a laugh after they digested their food,
They went for a run and they ran all the way back home talking and laughing together.
And there we have it,
The Wile E.
Coyote and the Road Runner were now friends with full bellies.
