Hello friend.
When is the last time you expressed gratitude and acknowledged the abundance in your life?
Like most people,
You might be able to name a few things and then begin to start to identify all of the ways in which others did you wrong,
Or all of the things you feel you lack.
This is caused by your ego which associates your self-identity with the acquisition of things,
Wealth,
Resources,
Opportunities.
But in the words of Wayne Dreyer,
Abundance is not something we acquire,
It is something we tune into.
And so for today's meditation we will practice tuning in to the abundance and facilitating gratitude within you and around you,
By asking yourself a few thoughtful questions.
And it begins now.
Invite your soul to fully occupy every fiber of your being.
Notice what you may be holding onto that's getting in the way.
Root yourself firmly to the earth and tune into the subtle sway of your body as you breathe.
Close your eyes softly or maintain a gaze gently as you begin your journey inward.
Take a few deep breaths envisioning each inhale as a wave rolling up into your body and each exhale as a tide receding and carrying away anything that you're physically holding onto.
You are the seed of life and your abundance in this moment is your breath and your beating heart.
While it is a reminder of your own humanity,
It is a common thread of abundance that exists between us all.
No matter your shape,
No matter your size,
Your body provides you with bountiful gifts from the vast array of cells each with their own specialized functions,
Tissues that heal and regenerate themselves,
And a body that experiences a variety of sensations.
So take a moment here to say thank you to your body and all of the many ways it allows you to experience life around you.
Thank you body.
I cherish you for your resilience and all of the opportunities you provide me.
Thank you.
When you experience trials and tribulations it can be hard to see the abundance you have around you because your perspective is skewed by the distractions of your mind.
So here some self-inquiry can be very useful to help you begin to recognize the abundance in your life today.
Ask yourself here,
Who am I thankful for that brings me joy and support today?
Reflect on your day and those that you're with.
Remind yourself that sometimes support comes in small gestures,
A message,
A compliment,
Or a spontaneous act of offering assistance.
Consider how someone makes you feel both during and after you interact with them.
Who am I thankful for that brings me joy and support today?
Take a moment to express your gratitude toward this person or being in a way that would make sense to them.
Is it a smile,
A hug,
Or are there words?
With loving and open awareness,
Thank them now.
Consider a question that you can ask yourself to identify the abundance within your life.
What simple comforts am I able to enjoy today?
Take a moment to appreciate the small everyday pleasures that you have.
A gentle breeze,
A cozy chair,
The smell of a flower,
Or reading a good book.
Notice how these things engage your senses and soften your heart.
What simple comforts am I able to enjoy today?
Now express your appreciation to these things and those who contribute to it.
Maybe the gardener who planted the flower that smells so good,
Or the worker who operated the machine that bound the book that you love and can't put down.
Take a moment to say thank you to them.
Another question you can ask yourself to start to recognize the abundance in your life is what is something I'm looking forward to in the next 24 hours.
Think of things that excite you about your day.
If there isn't anything,
Plan something enjoyable.
Getting takeout for dinner,
Getting a manicure,
Having coffee with a friend,
Or spending time on your favorite hobby.
You could also give yourself something to strive for,
Such as reaching a new level in fitness,
Cooking a new recipe,
Or taking a nap.
What is something I'm looking forward to in the next 24 hours?
And then take a moment to be thankful for the opportunity to do what it is that you enjoy,
That you like,
That brings you joy.
Before I leave you to reflect on these questions,
Imagine your mind is a vast sky,
Endlessly expanding out in all directions.
Your mind is a great constructor of cloud castle creations of thoughts,
Feelings,
And images.
And while these constructs can seem real and permanent,
It is but a mirage in your mind,
As your mind's skyline shifts and morphs constantly.
So when your mind tries to cause distraction as you reflect on these questions,
Feel the ground beneath your feet,
Recenter your core awareness,
And take a deep sigh.
And kindly allow the dark clouds of distraction to pass through your view without detaching to them or forcing them away.
There is no need to rush things out of your view,
Simply relax back and observe.
I will repeat the questions now and then leave you to practice until you hear my voice once more.
Who am I thankful for that brings me joy and support today?
What simple comforts am I able to enjoy?
What is something I'm looking forward to in the next 24 hours?
I'd like to bring your awareness back to my voice.
Before you open your eyes and invite movement in your body,
Remain here just a few moments longer.
I'd like to share a poem with you called Being Present by Jesse Humane.
I like petals in the sunshine that sleep beneath the roses.
And I like the sound a bird makes when its beak opens and closes.
I like the way the grass bends in the passing of a breeze.
And I like the way the vines look as they climb and wind up trees.
I like the way the world looks as I sit here on the ground.
And I love the way my mind feels when I notice what's around.
I share this brief poem with you as it exemplifies the abundance that exists each and every day in your life should you decide to take the time to tune into it.
You too are like a caterpillar that abundantly has everything within it to transform itself when the time comes.
You see,
A caterpillar does not spend its days dwelling on that which it lacks or wanting to be something more than it is.
So keep in mind,
Just because you don't readily see your abundance does not mean that you don't already have it.
Once you accept this and simply begin with the intention to be open to the process,
You have already started your journey to recognizing the abundance in your life today.
And the more you practice,
The more you will see just how much you have to be grateful for.
Until next time,
My friend,
Namaste.
