Hello,
This is Shakti Shilpa,
Here's a gentle meditation to help you fall asleep.
Stay with the sound of my voice as we gently relax the body and release anything the day has been holding.
You can also return to this practice if you find yourself awake in the middle of the night,
When the mind becomes active again and thoughts begin to circle.
And if you find yourself still awake at the end of the session,
That's completely okay.
Some nights sleep come easily and other nights it takes its own time.
There is nothing wrong with that.
You can always play this again as if for the first time.
Now starting afresh,
Allow yourself to lie down comfortably on your back.
Letting the body settle naturally,
Your arms resting by your sides,
Your feet gently falling open,
Make any small movements you need so your body feels supported.
Take a slow breath in and a soft breath out.
Let the eyes close without any effort.
Now tighten your whole body just for a moment,
Your arms,
Your legs,
Chest,
Belly,
Your shoulders,
Even your facial muscles as if you're making a funny face.
Hold that tension along with the breath and pause.
And then release.
Let everything drop.
Take another deep breath in and a long slow breath out.
This is a quiet signal to your body that it's time to rest and relax.
The day is complete.
Nothing more is needed from you.
If your mind feels full or restless,
That's okay.
Just notice this is where you are right now.
No need to fix it.
No need to push anything away.
Sometimes it takes a little while for the mind to settle.
And for the body to follow.
Take another gentle breath in and out.
Now allow your body to sink a little deeper into the surface beneath you.
When you take the next breath in,
Allowing your body to sink even deeper.
And with the next breath,
Even more deeper.
Let go of the day.
Let go of anything.
Anything unfinished.
Anything still lingering.
As best as you can.
Also release the need to fall asleep.
Sleep will come when your body is ready.
For now,
There's nothing to do.
Nowhere to go.
Just resting here.
Let your face soften.
Let your forehead become soft.
Space between your eyebrows become soft.
Eyes heavy,
Resting back.
Jaws unclenched.
Shoulders dropping just a little more.
Arms heavy,
Effortless.
Hands completely at rest.
Feel your back body.
Sinking.
Supported.
Hips soft,
Heavy.
Legs releasing.
Feet relaxed.
Your whole body now resting.
Nothing to hold.
Nothing to carry.
If thoughts pass through,
Let them come and go.
Like distant sounds fading into the night.
Your breath is natural,
Quiet and easy.
You don't need to follow it,
Or change it.
Just stay with the breath.
You might notice small moments of silence,
Stillness.
Little gaps between your thoughts.
Let yourself rest there.
There is no need to stay with my voice anymore.
If you drift,
That is perfect.
Your body already knows how to sleep.
All you are doing is allowing it.
Soften a little more.
Unwind a little deeper.
Let go just a little further.
If you are still awake,
Simply resting,
That is enough.
Simply allow yourself to sink.
Deeper and deeper.
With each breath.
Into comfort.
Into stillness.
Into sleep.
