Welcome.
This meditation is for the quiet belief that you're somehow doing life wrong.
That you should be further along,
Calmer,
Better,
Adjusted and more certain.
So for the next few minutes nothing needs to be corrected.
You're invited to rest from self-evaluation.
Now begin by letting your body settle where it is.
No posture to achieve.
No state to reach.
And notice that you're here.
Breathing is happening.
And awareness is present.
And that alone is enough for this moment.
And now gently notice any background sense of self-judgment.
It might sound like comparison or pressure or the feeling that others are managing better than you.
Now you don't need to analyze it.
Just notice that this belief exists.
And silently say to yourself,
I'm not failing at being human.
And let the words without forcing an agreement.
Being human includes confusion.
It includes emotional swings.
And it includes uncertainty,
Fatigue and even contradiction.
Nothing about your current state disqualifies you from belonging here.
So bring your attention to the breath.
Notice how it moves without instruction.
No one taught it how to do this.
And in the same way much of your life has been unfolding without a manual.
You learned by being in it,
By responding and by adapting.
Mistakes aren't evidence of failure.
They're evidence of participation.
And if the mind offers a list of things you should have done differently,
Well then think it wildly.
That habit is old and for now it's unnecessary.
So return to sensation.
Feel the weight of your body.
The contact with what's beneath you.
Notice how the body isn't judging itself.
It's simply functioning.
So let yourself rest here for a few breaths without assessment and without greeting.
And again gently say to yourself,
I'm not failing at being human.
Nothing needs to change for that to be true.
So as this meditation comes to a close,
Widen awareness slightly.
Feel the space around you,
The sounds,
The room.
And as you return to your day,
See if you can carry this with you.
Not as a belief to defend,
But as a quiet release from unnecessary self-pressure.
Good work today and namaste.
