Grab your favorite stuffie! Wrap up in your softest blanket. And snuggle in nice and tight. Now let's take some slow deep breaths together. When we breathe slowly, Our bodies feel calm and relaxed. This is another story about Danny the Magic Dragon, The little dragon whose magical sparkles bring warmth, Light, And wonder to everyone he meets. In today's story. Danny feels jealous when a new friend named Ruby seems to be good at everything. Let's see how Danny handles those big feelings. Are you ready? Okay, Let's begin. Once upon a time, In a cozy cave nestled between two mountains, There lived a little dragon named Danny. Danny lived with his mom, His dad, And his little sister Daisy. Danny loved his family very much. Danny had purple scales that sparkled like jewels in the sunlight. And his big eyes glowed with their very own special light. But there was one thing that made Danny different from the other dragons. Danny's mom. His dad and even his little sister Daisy could breathe big, Bright flames of fire. But Danny breathed sparkles. Tiny, Colorful, Swirling sparkles in gold, Purple, Pink, And blue. One sunny afternoon. Danny was having a wonderful day playing hide and seek with his friends in the whispering woods. His sparkles were glowing brightly. And he had just won two games in a row. And everyone was laughing and having so much fun. I love hide-and-seek, " Danny said happily to Freddy the Fox. I'm really good at hiding behind that big oak tree. You are, Freddy agreed, And your sparkles help us find our way when it gets dark in the forest. Danny felt proud and pretty special. He loved being helpful to his friends. Just then, They heard a voice calling from the edge of the woods. Hello? Is anyone here? Everyone turned to see a new dragon flying toward them. She was about daddy's size and she had beautiful emerald green scales that shimmered in the sunlight. Hi, Said the new dragon with a warm smile. I'm Ruby. My family just moved into the cave on the other side of the hill. Are you playing a game? Can I play too? Of course, Said Daisy, Danny's little sister. She bounced excitedly over to Ruby. We're playing hide and seek! I'm Daisy, And this is my brother Danny, And that's Freddy. Daisy introduced everyone. And soon they were all playing together. At first, Danny thought Ruby seemed nice. But then something happened that made his tummy feel funny and tight. When it was Ruby's turn to seek. She found everyone super quickly. She could hear the tiniest sounds with her dragon ears. Wow, Ruby, You're amazing at this, Said Freddy the Fox. And then later, When they played tag, Ruby flew so fast and did fancy loop-de-loops in the air. That's incredible! Shouted Freddy. And when they all sat down for a snack, Ruby breathed the most beautiful flames and toasted all their marshmallows perfectly. They were golden brown and not burned at all. Ruby you fly so fast and you make the most amazing marshmallows. Said Daisy admiringly. With each nice thing the others said to Ruby, Danny felt smaller and smaller. He felt his sparkles weren't as special anymore. He felt his hiding spot behind the oak tree seemed silly now. And he certainly couldn't do loop-de-loops like Ruby could. That tight, Yucky feeling in his tummy kept growing stronger. Danny didn't like feeling like this. But he couldn't help it. I can fly fast too. Danny mumbled quietly. But no one heard him. They were all watching Ruby doing another cool flying trick. Before the end of the day, Danny didn't feel like playing anymore. His friends were still laughing and playing with Ruby, But Danny left and flew home to his cave. When Danny got home, He went straight to his corner and he curled up with his tail wrapped around himself. Mama Dragon immediately noticed something was wrong. Danny, Sweetheart, What's the matter? She said gently, Sitting down beside him. Nothing, Danny said. But his voice was small and sad. It doesn't seem like nothing, Mama said softly. Did something happen with your friends today? Would you like to talk about it, Or would you like some space? Danny was quiet for a moment. Then, In a very small voice, He said, I'd like to talk about it. There's this new dragon named Ruby. And she's really good at everything. Everyone thinks she's amazing. And she is amazing. She can hear better than me. She can fly faster than me. And she can breathe real fire and toast marshmallows perfectly. I see. Said Mama nodding thoughtfully. I know I have my special sparkles, Danny said. And now tears were forming in his eyes. But Ruby can do so many more things than I can. Everyone was paying attention to her and not me. That made me feel bad inside. Oh, Danny. Mama sat, Pulling him close with her wing. I understand. That feeling you're describing, It's called jealousy. And you know what? Everyone feels jealous sometimes. Even grown-up dragons like me. Really? Danny said. Yes, Really, Mama assured him. Jealousy is that funny feeling in your tummy when someone else does something great. And do you feel like you're not special anymore? But here's the important thing you need to know. That's not true. When Freddy is really good at finding things with his nose, Does that bother you? No, Said Danny. I think it's cool that Freddy can do that. And when Daisy makes beautiful art, Do you feel bad? Mama asked. No, I feel proud of her, Danny said. So why should Ruby be any different? Mama asked with a gentle smile. Danny was quiet. Any thought about what Mama said? Mama was right. He did feel proud when his friends and his sister did well. Why couldn't he feel that way about Ruby too? The next day, Danny flew back to the Whispering Woods. He found Ruby by the stream, Practicing her loop-de-loops. Danny took a deep breath. Hi, Ruby, He said. Oh, Hi, Danny, Ruby said brightly. Hey, You left early yesterday. I hope I didn't do something wrong. No, Danny said honestly. You didn't do anything wrong. I was feeling jealous because everyone thought you were so amazing. But my mama helped me understand that your talents don't make me less talented. So. I wanted to say I'm sorry for leaving. And you loop-de-loops, They are really incredible. Ruby's eyes lit up. Thank you. That's really kind of you to say. And Danny, I hope you know that everyone was telling me how special your sparkles are. They said you use them to light the way for everyone. And you keep them warm. I think that's the most wonderful magic I've ever heard of. I wish I could do that. Danny was surprised. Really? You think my sparkles are special? Are you kidding? They're amazing. Ruby said. Real fire is useful for some things. But your sparkles can do things my fire can't. They're gentle and beautiful and helpful all at once. Danny felt his heart grow warm. Not from jealousy this time. But from happiness. Hey, Danny said with a smile, Maybe you could teach me how to do loop-de-loops and I could show you how to make sparkle patterns in the air. That would be awesome. Ruby said. That's exactly what they did. And that's how Ruby and Danny became the best of friends. From that day on, Whenever Danny noticed that yucky, Jealous feeling starting in his tummy, He remembered what his mama taught him. He would take a deep breath. And he'd remind himself.
