You you you you My intention today is to work with Confusion but on a on a very different from a very different perspective So Confusion can be addressed on so many different levels One is to try to understand confusion and the other is to actually Create a Movement that goes with confusion so as to create a different space where confusion isn't really nurtured in being as confused as Confusion can get so this means creating a different environment where confusion doesn't really Feel supported to continue down that very same track down that very same way of expressing that energy that is expressed as confusion so actually we can Change the structure where confusion through habits tends to find itself and Manifest itself and Express itself in what?
Can be confused thoughts or what can be confused feelings or what can be confused situations that are manifesting around oneself?
So changing the structure is of course Not as easy as it sounds if it was then we would all be doing these things and first we have to face What supports the structure in being maintained so very often what supports a structure in being maintained?
Meaning the reason that we continue nurturing the confusion is because facing the the energies that Maintain a structure is quite difficult and it's important to know this It's not something as easy as thinking another new thought.
It's quite difficult to change structures That have been so ingrained into the way that we think feel into the way that our body Communicates in in the way that we perceive reality that it's become Almost the reality that we believe to be the most real So the energy that we are challenging has almost Fused into our own personality and fused into our own sort of perception of Who am I and then the I becomes that?
Structure that maintains the confusion So to challenge that of course is very difficult.
It's important just to Understand this because sometimes if we think things can just change Immediately,
Then we are falling into another trap Falling into another trap and that trap is called instant gratification Which is very well nurtured in the Western world.
Everything should happen now.
No better yesterday And if it doesn't what's wrong?
You know,
It's another sort of game that the mind plays or the ego plays which Supports the structure of confusion in the end because in the end we don't really believe that anything is worthwhile Unless it happens immediately We don't think Anything is worthwhile unless we get an instant sort of gratification that Makes us feel better right now But actually sometimes we have to work through Situations that maintain a structure and then allow that structure to make us not feel so good So even though it's difficult what we're doing sometimes Meaning that we're becoming more conscious more aware of the situations that surround us that difficulty is actually quite exciting because we know on some level we're challenging the structure that creates this confusion that Allows us to get lost or not to be able to focus Upon that which is truly important for us right now and right now instant gratification isn't what is important Now that is just a mental concept the need to satisfy The mind's thoughts or the mind's belief systems is just another concept So in actual fact we can be very patient when we drop this perspective of having to instantly gratify something that the mind pops up with the new thought or the new perspective that the mind pops up with if we know this there is sense of Awareness that is gentle there is a sense of awareness that is more patient There is a sense of awareness which says What is time anyway?
Instant means that we've decided in our minds that you egoic aspect of the mind at least that There is a linear dimension to reality meaning that this is happening now,
And this is what now means and This is what I want to happen right now,
And I'm measuring all that In in a way where everything is so linear there is a scale to my experience There is a beginning and an end to my experience which of course then entails that there is some sort of judgment If it doesn't happen right now,
Then we create another thought which is another judgment of Why?
Never happens.
I'm always never able to and then there is this whole Movement of thinking that arises out of confusion rather than arises out of awareness Rather than arising out of the space of consciousness we keep feeding the mechanism That's creating the structure of confusion so in the end Really we need to look at things from a perspective of energy rather than a perspective of gratification So we know that instant gratification Often Creates the structure of confusion and very often instant gratification comes out of a space of Confusion that Not only is confused,
But also Has as its driving force desire Once Needs so that it's that the once needs and desires that sometimes are natural Sometimes a natural the desire to eat when one's hungry Is a natural desire,
But it gets mixed in To the confusion that the mind is thinking about or believing to be reality And then the desires and the needs and the once are no longer Just Needs pure needs a pure need to satisfy hunger they become confused with a whole lot of interesting thinking That is confused with a whole lot of interesting judgments.
That's confused with a whole lot of interesting ideas That have nothing to do with this moment,
But that are caught in past experiences and future perspectives And then it gets very very complex The structure that we're challenging gets very confusing if we approach it from the space of instant gratification meaning that we want to resolve the situation now I'm confused.
I want to make sure that I'm not confused the want That is driving that desire can very often confuse matters further So if all this sounds very confusing To your mind that's okay because it's not the mind that I'm speaking to I'm just speaking to that part of your nature That has as its essential quality awareness if you allow for Awareness to be the reference rather than for Instant gratification or the need to sort out problems to be the driving force that keeps repeating the very same old structure over and over again,
But dressed up in new clothes Showing itself in new ways new belief systems new ideas new interesting ways of thinking if you Drop that for a little while And just come back to the space of awareness Whereby there is a recognition an intuitive recognition of what is going on How the confused mind is confusing you How the structure that is maintaining confusion Can be approached without creating another desire or another need that Is reflected often in instant gratification or this Want to change things Everything is perfect as it is so if there is a need to change if there is a need to change anything then we're somehow negating the driving force of perfection This is important to realize So that awareness can expand beyond the thoughts so that awareness can intuit that The actual work the the practice Is not only about understanding but the practice is about Challenging the structure From a very different perspective and that is to bring the state of awareness Into that which is creating confusion That structure that is maintaining confusion Remember,
It's not that wants or needs Are important but Awareness so even if you don't understand anything even if the mind is saying oh gosh That's such a confusing concept doesn't really matter what what is important is that you bring awareness so that the structure That is maintaining the confusion Gets challenged from inside out Rather than from outside in So it's not that the thoughts have to filter through this sense of who you are the ego And then make sense to this deep part of yourself.
It's almost as if this deep part of yourself falls into awareness and then You become aware Naturally you become aware of the situations that you're creating in your life that Maintain this confusion you might realize oh I'm always doing this to myself.
I'm always repeating this Belief system inside of myself say I'm a victim and it's okay if I say i'm a victim because I feel and then experience Being a victim as at least something that I know that can support Just my identity and even if I don't really play that game so obviously even if I put myself in situations where i'll end up being a victim And it's almost like a test Where I put myself in these situations and oh look what's happening I am a victim because look at what people are saying or look at what the situation around me is doing It's verifying that i'm a victim so see confusion then is so very confusing because it looks to everyone around you as if You're not a victim.
You're just a victim to as if you're not a victim you're just a victim to a victimizing situation and so poor victim is What you're comfortable with the world around you saying oh?
Gosh,
It's such a hard life.
You've got you know,
And i'm not making fun.
I'm just saying how interesting Things are when awareness comes into the picture and you and you realize oh for some reason i'm always creating this sort of comfortable situation for myself because I don't want to challenge that which is nurturing the confusion.
I don't want to challenge Myself in this way.
I I okay I can challenge the superficial aspect Okay,
I don't want to be a victim in my thoughts.
Okay,
So i'm not going to think i'm a victim but Still energetically I can play out that game And see if the world treats me in that way and creates who creates me creates the sense of me that is a victim to situations Gosh so not only do we have to change our thoughts but we have to change the whole structure that Gave rise to those thoughts that allowed those thoughts to be maintained for so long That they become almost a part of you part of who this me person is a part of the ego identity the ego self identity In psychology called the self,
Of course,
You don't want to sort of challenge the self too much,
But you want to challenge that which Creates confusion because your focus is more important.
And so if there is too much confusion You cannot focus upon the gifts that are beyond being a victim or beyond being whatever it is that is part of the confusion that is then creating an energy Drain that's then creating a lack of focus which of course then creates a lack of awareness And a lack of awareness means that you are controlled and manipulated by the energies of confusion rather than being empowered by the awareness that allows you to see and understand and to experience that everything is perfect Even if you cannot see the perfection that is being presented in that moment that you're having the experience Now if you know this because some deep part of you inside not outside but inside is aware that this Deep part of yourself knows That everything is perfect Then there is a sort of faith or there is a sort of trust in that which you are doing that allows for awareness to Expand from not the space of doubt The space of oh look here it happens again The world is showing me that I'm a victim the space of repetitive behaviors the space of addictive behaviors to repetitive belief systems or belief life stances No,
But rather now this sense of trust allows you to see that this deep deep Understanding that everything is perfect that actually reality as it is not what you understand but much more complex I don't know if you can hear me now Ah yes,
Okay The computer is playing up so much more complex so complex that in the end Really the simplicity of Letting go of the confused mind is a practice It's not something that we Can really figure out in our minds.
It's a practice and what a wonderful practice to Today and now that we are in this Very auspicious Time now that we've reached this very auspicious time in our evolution,
Which By the way is spring in this part of the world What about cleansing The confusion or at least the structure of the confusion So this means Drop trying to figure out everything drop trying to understand everything Drop trying to understand everything because of course that's the function of the mind and just watch it as it tries to understand what i'm Saying what you are saying to yourself what you are perceiving in my words and Focus on the practical the practice Because that's the simplicity and that's the beauty of simplicity in spiritual practice that Really in the end If we trust we if there is such an immense amount of trust in what we're doing those steps that we're taking Become the center of our attention the center of our focus So rather than focusing on the confusion We can focus on the beautiful steps that we're taking right now.
For example the beautiful breath that you're breathing into your body Right now the beautiful movement that is happening within Your body the neurons in the brain communicating firing and wiring The cells in the body just alive and vibrant Otherwise you wouldn't be here the fact that In this moment,
Perhaps as you listen to satsang the transmissions communicating to a deep Essential quality within you that you're beginning to remember or to recognize Those the simplicity of practice is beautiful and if we Create as an intention To challenge the confusion so that the state of awareness expands within the space that is now occupied by by Confusion or by the mind being in a confused state Then we we can do things slowly We we can do things slowly because we're not driven by instant gratification.
We're driven by nothing Except the knowledge that everything is perfect.
So that's not really a driving force.
That's just a level of honesty and a level of trust that Allows you to bypass the games that the confused mind can very often play just simply because it's so clever And simply because the addictive nature of confusion is so very powerful So if we drop all that and just watch it through mindfulness Watch it through Okay,
That's what's going on in my mind,
But i'm right here now And right now my intention if you want to do this is to be able to cleanse the space So we can begin by looking at those things that are not working in our lives You know,
For example the communication of anger or the communication of sadness or the communication of frustration Emotional Communication is very powerful and very energy draining when caught in a negative frame of mind So i'm not saying that that is something that you can never do but if it becomes a reactive state To your thoughts meaning that every time your thought thinks of something You become sad or you become angry or you become upset That drains you because then you're identified with the mind So very strongly and the thoughts that are happening in the mind so very strongly that the thoughts are sucking you into Themselves rather than you creating the space of awareness So cleansing simply means that you notice certain habits That are being played out on the emotional level.
Let's start with the emotional level And you say to yourself,
Okay That reactive space is an interesting communication but I know it's driven by my confusion or my want of something or my desire of something so I'm not going to give it that much energy as soon as I feel this As soon as I feel this Disempowerment happening As soon as the reactive state of feeling arises within me within my body or within my emotional body I'm just going to identify it and say that That is the victim that I'm letting go of that is the victim or disempowered state that I'm letting go of so you identify it and you Communicate to it to that which is there Through awareness Now you're not fighting you're not pushing you're not saying go away Because you're coming from the perfect state of awareness that means that you don't have to do anything but recognize That awareness in this moment is more important than the reaction that the mind is pulling you towards So that is what is difficult because as soon as you do this then you have a choice That choice Is not an easy choice because we're not used to choice.
We're used to being manipulated by our minds We're used to being manipulated by our social structures and our cultural belief systems So because we're so used to that even our perspective of reality is Has arisen because of this confusion Because we're not clear enough to focus upon what is real in this moment.
What is truly important in this moment if we come from this space of awareness we approach That which we are cleansing from the space of awareness Then everything changes because No longer.
Do you have that same attachment to the reactive or addictive or habitual process that you are now challenging?
And awareness has the great ability to expand exponentially when given your presence when given your state of presence awareness Can just expand exponentially that means it doesn't just expand on a linear level means it expands on all dimensions on the multiple on the multiple multiple i'm getting myself into a mumble here multiple Dimensions of expansion that that is possible So it's not just that you expand Here in this dimension,
But you expand on other dimensions and awareness then begins to address things not just from the reactive space that you're Addressing in this moment.
So is it not not just Okay,
That's a habit and i'm addressing the habit but also from all The energies that have supported Such a situation to arise in the first place So some people call this karma or some people call this genetics some people call this sort of the subtle history or the Human history cultural history That we inherit as we come and manifest on this dimension all that changes Simply because awareness expands exponentially And when you walk your talk this means That you're putting into practice aware states of being and confusion Can never survive in that space It just simply disappears and so cleansing Can happen On this very profound level and I believe that it's such an auspicious time to put this into practice now But it can also happen by you noticing not only things that are happening not only things From the inside but things also from the outside notice how you create certain situations around you for example Perhaps Just coming home to an untidy kitchen You know I'm talking about the outside one day now and every time You're tired after work say and you have lots of things and you're really feeling like just I need to sit down and you I want to do and and it's somehow that untidy kitchen is Draining you of energy because every time you look It reminds you that there is something more that needs to be done something more that needs to be completed And that messiness is a reflection of the messiness of confusion so This doesn't mean that you have to go around and do everything all at once but if that is a vital aspect of What supports the confusion?
Then it's important to address things inwardly but also outwardly this means that as soon as you become aware of a habit or a way of doing things or a way of creating situations around you that Support the structure of confusion as soon as you notice that then you need to walk your talk Yeah,
That means you you need to resolve it on this practical level also because that's part of spiritual Work,
It's not just changing things inwardly but changing things outwardly if you don't change them outwardly It's very unlikely that the inwards The inward changes that you are putting into motion Really remain very permanent or grounded in reality So This doesn't mean everything outside has to be perfect because there is another desire to make everything perfect outside so that we feel good inside No,
I'm talking about situations that maintain confusion and this could be situations such as just Situations such as just constellations that you have with people always ending up in the same sort of feeling or same sort of Communication mode with a person and inviting that person to always fall into the same with you so it's it's a structure that's out there in the constellation that supports confusion And it's very difficult to change because we're often we're very happy with what we know as you know We're happy with the situation not changing even if our minds say Let's change this We don't have the energy.
It's difficult as hard as explained in the beginning And if things are difficult and hard Then it's easier for the mind to say oh tomorrow Another day when i'm free when i'm enlightened when I do the retreat when I Procrastination is what we speak about tomorrow in the meanwhile As you breathe in and breathe out Make sure that Let go Of all that confusion the mundaneness The mind Just come back here to acknowledging that being yourself in this moment Is not just perfection but is a celebration of perfection This celebration Can be understood in so many different ways a relaxed body a relaxed mind deep and profound breath but also in the vibration of light and sound and as the sound Vibrates from the lightness of consciousness from the lightness of awareness the sound of the whom mantra the vibration of the whom mantra becomes the celebration of those steps That you now are taking So we continue with the who mantra So So So So So You You You You You You You You You You You You You You
