A prayer of John Henry (Cardinal) Newman seeking God's support and guidance through the whole of life until our work is done. The prayer refers to the fever of life and seeks in the end a holy rest and peace at the last. The prayer is preceded by settling down words and a period of one minute to allow you to come into the present moment.

Dear friends,

In this series we will have a short settling down introduction followed by a prayer.

I hope that whatever your own beliefs you will find some benefit in hearing these well known words which have been a support to others over many years.

But first let us come into the present and find that elusive space where body and mind come together.

Relax for a few moments,

Maybe close your eyes,

Drop your shoulders,

Notice your breath and realise that you are part of this supportive community.

This is a prayer of Cardinal Newman,

John Henry Newman.

May he support us all the day long till the shades lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed and the fever of life is over and our work is done.

Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging and a holy rest and peace at the last.

Words of Cardinal Newman,

John Henry Newman.

Namaste.

Magnificent. I was diagnosed with aggressive cancer recently amidst the pandemic and could not find peace nor calm until this meditation enabled me to finally surrender. Massive Namaste, Tony! โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐ŸŒˆ

Sweet and calming. What a lovely prayer Tony. Iโ€™m reading Maeve Binchyโ€™s biography right now. Love, love her books. So sad to hear when she passed. Her books are so full and rich with emotion. Just like your wonderful meditations. Thank you Tony. Namaste ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐ŸŒท๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŽถ
