Dear friends,
Welcome to A Blessing for Wednesday.
I hope you've been enjoying the other blessings in this series.
Before we begin,
Let us take a moment to bring ourselves to a place of calm and rest.
Become aware of your presence in the place where you're sitting.
Close your eyes if you wish.
Notice any sounds or smells around you.
Maybe the smell of something cooking,
Or the happy twittering of a board outside your window.
Perhaps the hum of traffic as people outside go about the business of the world.
Let's pause and allow ourselves to simply be here.
May life treat you with kindness today and always,
And may you treat others with the kindness you wish for yourself.
In the busyness of life,
May you give yourself permission to rest,
Briefly pausing between activities to take a mindful breath before moving on to the next task.
May you enjoy good health,
And whenever it fails,
May you be patient with your healing.
Patience in this situation can be a challenge,
But it is helped by remembering this too shall pass.
In a world of ever-increasing complexity,
Our world filled with gadgets,
May you be nourished by simple things.
May you notice the difference between your desires and your needs.
May you be blessed by having most of your needs,
But insofar as they fall short,
May they act as a reminder to you to be grateful for all you have,
In a world where many people have so little.
May you know contentment in the present moment.
May you be grateful for your friends,
Your family,
And the countless people who support the life you enjoy.
May you remember that happiness comes not from having all we want,
It comes from being grateful for the many things we have.
May you always remember the things you take for granted today.
These are the things you only dreamed about yesterday.
May you enjoy the happiness of gratitude,
Remembering the words of Meister Eckhart.
If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you,
It is enough.
Namaste.
