This is a short story about my experience with a song and its beautiful voices. It was one of those moments when time stands still and you feel into something, when it hits you at an impossible angle and sets you free.

Betcha by Golly,

Wow!

A short story by Tom Kelly.

This little adventure started while driving and listening to music.

It was a beautiful,

Sunny afternoon when this song came on.

Betcha by Golly,

Wow!

By The Stylistics.

Within 30 seconds,

I was carried away and after listening to the song once,

I replayed it.

I yelled,

Wow!

Out loud and then asked myself these questions.

How could a voice be so beautiful?

How could it be so true and innocent and pure?

How was it possible for a human to do this,

To be so magical,

To speak every emotion all at once?

I felt everything that came through and knew this wasn't superhuman,

But a gift.

When I got home,

I looked up this song and found Russell Tompkins Jr.

To be the singer.

As I gazed at his name in front of me,

I heard his voice,

Which was almost otherworldly.

His incredible falsetto was so pure,

Filled with emotional nakedness,

A joyful sadness with such hopeful vulnerability.

It felt like he was standing on the edge of something bigger than himself,

To be able to touch these threads of light through sound.

I was confused,

Yet fully understanding the depth of his gift.

Looking down at the page,

I saw that this song was released in 1971 and wondered how I had missed it until now,

Realizing that maybe I hadn't missed at all,

Just that I heard it more fully today.

I wondered about time and how treasures were hidden until the right moment,

When they were meant to be seen,

Felt,

Or heard.

Did Russell Tompkins Jr.

Know that his voice was a divine tool?

As I pondered so many things,

I was shown a stream and knew that there is a flow and that everything floats together in the stream.

We are all part of the stream,

Along with all the gifts.

Tompkins is in the stream and creates with his voice.

You and I are in the stream and can listen to Tompkins.

Everything we could ever want or need is in the stream,

Just like Tompkins' voice.

It is a sacred calling,

Like when a dog hears something we can't.

It's not that we can't hear or sense.

It's all about allowing ourselves to attune differently.

It's a learning to be differently.

The message says that it's time for more to be heard,

For us to feel into these greater depths and allow these greater understandings to be unlocked.

Let's celebrate what is coming and ask to hear more.
