Fear is such an integral part.
Of the human experience.
Which is interesting too,
Because in the truth of what is,
There's nothing to be afraid of.
And we can see that and then of course in our silliness assume therefore you should never be afraid and then we pretend like we're not afraid.
Because it's not the spiritual thing to do.
When in actuality,
Fear is very intentional.
Just like.
Getting burned by fire.
It's very intentional.
It's very informative.
And when fear arises,
To really be with the fear and to see what's going on.
Invites you to see beyond the fear,
Which teaches you there's nothing to be afraid of.
It's like.
.
.
Living in a house.
Where you have a hundred doors of fear.
That are all shut.
And you feel closed in.
You feel imprisoned.
You can't go outside.
And then one day you're looking at these fears and you decide to open one of the doors.
And look at what's really in there and you find out there's nothing to be afraid of.
So now that door is open.
You're less of a prisoner.
And then we go through our lives exploring all of these doors of fear.
And we keep finding the same pattern again and again.
It's not what I thought it was.
My mind turned this into something that it's not.
I turned it into an imaginary monster that said I wasn't free,
That said I wasn't loved.
That said I wasn't allowed to be what I am.
And I felt imprisoned.
But all of those fears were imaginary.
It's the same fear behind every door.
And it's almost like we're invited to see the pattern.
That one fear is all fear.
It reminds me of when I hold space for people.
You can imagine,
Say there's a hundred different people and they all have different stories of the problem,
But it's always the same problem.
And it's always the same fear,
Even though it's a hundred different stories about the fear,
Which is like a hundred different life circumstances that seem fearful.
But it's the same fear.
And because it's the same fear,
And I understand that fear.
I don't fear anything that they're going through.
Which means there's an open space that just allows it to be whatever it is.
Because we're going to look beyond it.
And see that there's nothing to be afraid of.
And because it's all the same fear,
It's like it doesn't matter what the story is.
If the person is willing to look.
Then we will see beyond it,
Like without a doubt.
When the student is ready.
I experience this all the time with my wife.
When she's having an emotional moment,
There's fear there.
And knowing that there isn't anything to really be afraid of.
Means I don't have to Be afraid of her emotional moments.
Which is to fuel her fear.
And rather,
Just hold the space.
That embraces her fear,
Which is to embrace her totality.
And in that embrace where there's no judgment.
She finds a safe space to breathe.
And it's so fun to watch her go through that process of.
Being scared and then finding out there's nothing to be afraid of.
It's the most beautiful thing.
It's like.
.
.
As human beings,
We become afraid that we lost the greatest gift.
Only to find out that it was never lost.
It can't be lost.
It can't be destroyed.
It can't be taken from you.
And that remembering is.
Brilliant.
And we'll forget again.
And that's part of it.
