As we rest here in this stillness,

I invite you to just recognize what we might call the spaciousness of silence.

Almost as if there are no more walls.

And in this space,

Satsang invites an opportunity to distinguish between what is actually real and the imagination that we might fear.

Let us look at the quality of this moment.

Notice that in the reality of right now,

The stillness of right now,

There's nothing happening.

And yet within you is the capacity to imagine all sorts of things.

And I invite you to see these walls that get built.

What we fear tomorrow.

What fear shows itself in yesterday.

And yet all of these things that we might imagine that create a restriction inside of our being that seemingly denies the joy we long for.

All of these walls,

They're not actually here right now.

These things we fear,

They're not actually happening.

And in the most real way,

What I invite you to see is that any of these walls that we might imagine to be there,

In some way,

They're simply excuses for you to not fall madly in love with right now.

And notice this,

That in the moment of right now,

You're given this breath in such a way that it breathes through you not asking for anything in return.

And here you are held by life.

Given life.

To connect with the stillness of this moment,

You see that there literally isn't anything real that denies what you are.

And just recognize this for a moment.

Because again,

We're discerning the difference between what's actually happening and what we imagine to be happening.

And can you see this play out directly through your own experience throughout your life?

That the real difficulty to living has never really been the present moment experience.

It's never really been what's actually happening.

It's a concern about the next moment,

Next week,

Next year.

And I invite you to see fundamentally in a very playful way throughout your whole life.

What you were worried about is that you simply wouldn't make it to this moment.

You wouldn't get here to now.

And in that concern,

In that worry,

You can see that almost everything,

If not everything,

Has gone how you thought it was going to go.

In this,

Most everything you worried about never became a real something.

And we can see the whole time we had permission to relax.

We had permission to trust,

To enjoy,

To let go and to let life be life.

And even now you see the same invitation in this moment,

A presence,

Something that says,

I've got you,

The same presence that's been with you your whole life.

And you can see somehow in the most natural way,

There's been this unfolding of trust,

Something calling out to you.

Says trust.

Relax.

And you can see the difficulty to this trust.

That which appears to be in the way is only what we imagine to be out there.

The things we imagine can threaten the joy of what you are,

The wholeness of what you are.

And I invite you to recognize this subtle quality within yourself where there's something speaking to the heart of what you are that says,

Come home.

And naturally you can see it's such a voice that leads you to a space as this.

Something within says,

Can I please see what I am?

Can I please come home now?

Almost as if there's a child knocking on the door of your heart that says,

Can we play now?

And yet there's this fearful voice inside.

It says,

I don't know if it's safe.

I don't know if it's safe to let go.

And in this,

We find a seriousness that fears just letting it all go.

And so Set Song is going to be the opportunity to investigate what you feel so obligated to hold onto.

To investigate what it is that you feel is so important that it demands a sense of worry.

And to question one,

Do you even want that?

And two,

Is it even real?

You see the nature of letting go.

It's not an action.

It's not something that you do.

It's something that is automatic when you see the truth of things.

And this is the big confusion for human beings on this journey.

The assumption that there's something for you to do.

Something left undone.

And I invite you to see that this is a monumental confusion.

It almost implies that life has made a mistake with a burden rested on your shoulders.

And I invite you to see the futility of this doing throughout your whole life.

In some way or another,

Always falling short.

Never able to actually sustain some sense of doing.

Life invites you to simply see.

See what's already true.

See what's already done.

And in the recognition of this,

You might discover a landscape that says,

My dear,

Play.

Let's celebrate this miracle of life.

Recognize the profound nature of what is.

And in your celebration,

In your honoring of this,

Share it with the world.

Let the love that is look through your eyes.

Let the miracle breathe through what you are.

Let your being become an instrument.

You see the comedy of this for the human being and thinking that there's something for them to do.

I invite you to recognize the simplicity of your breath right now.

Do you notice how easy it is to create the assumption that you're the one that's breathing?

Where you could really tell a story that says,

Yeah,

I'm doing that.

Could you imagine if that was really up to you?

Setting your alarm every five minutes to check in.

The absolute terror before you go to sleep at night.

Am I going to keep breathing?

And how similar is this to the anxiousness that we feel about living life?

And you can see this assumption that the burden of breathing might be on your shoulders is simply a misunderstanding.

And in that misunderstanding that it's up to you,

You simply become anxious.

Notice this for a moment.

The second you start to believe that breathing is up to you,

Breathing becomes difficult.

Slightly agitated.

You notice this hint of fear that recognizes you can't do it.

And then when you see that you're not doing it without even trying,

You let go.

You recognize this isn't up to me.

This is already happening.

And in this,

There's an effortlessness that shows itself.

There's a deep gratitude for what's already moving.

An honoring of a sacred breath.

Without even fully understanding it,

The heart says,

I don't know what's happening.

I don't know who's breathing through me,

But thank you.

Thank you.

Because it is because of this breath that I am.

Without this breath,

There would be no more experience,

No more opportunity to discover,

No more opportunity to dance,

Sing,

And to share this miracle that is.

And let us not be mistaken.

The simplicity of being alive,

Is this not miracle enough?

Regardless of what it is you think you might want in the future,

Regardless of what disaster you think may or may not be going on,

In the reality of this moment,

The simplicity of being alive,

The simplicity of life being life,

To be awake in this,

Is that not enough?

And what threatens this miracle?

Only what you imagine about tomorrow.

Only what you imagine about something that's not actually happening.

Something that you feel is up to you,

As if tomorrow you will be the one that has to breathe.

You see,

For thousands and thousands of years,

Ever since man opened his eyes,

There was something seen.

A deep gratitude.

An amazement.

A childlike wonder.

Innocently lost in imagination of something that never was.

But yet the aliveness remains.

And some have touched upon the magic.

Some have seen beyond the veil.

And they couldn't help but tell everyone about it.

They say,

Look,

Look what's actually real.

Wake up sleepy.

Let this dream go.

See what's holding you.

See where you actually are.

Oh my goodness.

You see,

My friends,

The ancient journey of the human being,

Regardless of the path you choose,

Is looking for one thing and one thing only.

And let us simply look at this throughout everything you've ever looked for in your life.

Every anxious movement that has tried to get to the next moment.

What were you looking for?

Every ounce of violence that might have flowed through your veins,

Pushing away this or that.

What were you looking for?

What's the only thing that you want?

And you tell 10,

000 different stories about it,

But yet it's the same thing.

And to feel separate from this something that's desired.

Is something that is recognized as the most magnificent and powerful thing.

So much so that it ignites a fire within you,

A pain,

Whenever you see yourself as separate from it.

What is the only thing you're looking for?

What is the only thing that has ever been looked for?

And the joy of this is that it cannot be named.

As soon as your mind puts an idea to it,

Something inside says,

Yeah,

But that's not quite it.

It's something more sincere than that.

But for the sake of play,

We'll speak about it.

It's recognized as a wholeness.

It's recognized as a sense of completion.

Where the I am finally has the opportunity to rest.

To not feel separate.

To know beyond doubt that all is well.

To be held infinitely in love.

To know that there's nothing missing about you.

And I just invite you to see that in some way or another,

All of our running around,

All of our fears is simply looking for this.

And my friends,

The playful comedy of this,

And I do mean playful,

And certainly this week this will become more and more clear.

The innocence of this play is that in every ancient tradition that has spoken to this,

What has been said is that what you're looking for is what you already are.

And you just don't see it.

This is why it has shown itself to be impossible to capture in the world.

Notice this.

We thought we'd find it if we got this or that.

We thought we'd find it if this person changed.

We thought we'd find it if we could just get ourselves to change.

And yet in the world,

Nothing stands still.

And this is what I invite you to see to whatever degree that you can see it.

Is that this something,

This intimate discovery of being human that calls to you,

That begs for your heartfelt attention will never be found in the world,

Will never be found through the acquisition or the change of this or that.

If it is to be found,

I can promise you something.

And I'm not a man of making promises,

But this I will promise you.

You will see that it's been there the whole time.

And you just didn't see it.

Such is the comedy where when it's recognized,

You will tilt your head back and laugh with the sparkles in the night sky that say,

Oh my goodness.

Oh my goodness.

That was hilarious.

I was a fish frantically searching for water,

Not realizing I was breathing it.

I was held by the very thing I was looking for.

This fullness,

This ultimate prize of being alive.

And naturally the perceived obstacle that we will be invited to overcome is this insatiable assumption that what you want is something out there.

Cause very naturally I could ask you,

Okay,

What do you want?

And then your mind immediately begins making a list.

And this is fine.

But the invitation is to be deeply sincere about this list and to recognize it's just another expression of fear.

Because again,

Notice if you were to acquire this or that,

What does it give you?

Perceivably wholeness.

The disappearance of a problem.

The disappearance of any separation where the mind screens,

If I could just get this,

Then I could relax.

If I just knew tomorrow would be like this,

Then I could enjoy right now.

It's important to recognize the power within the mind to believe such nonsense.

Not as another opportunity to judge yourself,

But to see very clearly throughout your life experience what you have believed to be so real.

To suffer over it only to find out,

Oops,

It wasn't that at all.

Look at this.

Those moments when you really thought you knew you were missing something.

To the point of painful tears,

To the point of violence,

Only to find out you didn't really know.

Nothing wrong in this.

Just see the capacity of the mind to believe in that which was never real.

And see the same play that might be showing itself now in what you think you want tomorrow.

The same play in what you think you might be missing.

Do you really know that?

Or does it just look that way?

Distinguish.

Discern.

Do I really know?

Or does it just look that way?

You see one is closed,

One is open.

The one who thinks they know are the miserable one.

The one who is open often finds themselves surprised by a miracle.

And I invite you to recognize this right now.

If there is any pain in your life,

If there is any ounce of suffering,

Do you see that you think you know something?

That you know something that isn't even here right now?

Most notably,

You think you know that you're not enough.

Is that true?

Or does it just look that way?

Is it true,

Or is that just what you see?

For the human being,

The greatest threat is to be invited to let go of what you think you know.

Recognize this.

See the threat in that.

Everything from you think you know what happened yesterday to you know how it should be tomorrow,

To what you think you know is even best for you.

There's something inside that grips tightly,

Looking for some sense of a foundation in the mind,

Some sense of security,

Something trying to hold on.

Even if I hold on in pain,

At least I get to hold on.

And so playfully speaking,

Gently speaking,

This week is an opportunity to destroy everything you think you know.

You see,

I invite you to recognize the profound difference between who you imagine yourself to be and what you really are.

You see,

Who you imagine yourself to be is just like everything you think you know about yesterday and what you think you know about the future.

And then in this assumed knowing,

You imagine yourself to be this or that.

In this imagined self,

Do you see how it's imagined to be separate from something?

And just notice this,

There's a profound innocence in its observation,

So it's not evidence that you're getting it wrong.

Just see it.

That there is this imagined character of you that is believed to be separate,

That is believed to be missing something.

And in this assumed knowing,

You live this life,

This miracle from that assumption.

And so you breathe with an agitation,

Not fully living because something's missing.

Do you see what happens when you assume something's missing?

Do you notice that you can't rest in this moment?

Do you see how difficult it is to just be?

And surely what you'll recognize in this week is the profound magic of the present moment.

The peace that's there,

The love that's there,

The wholeness that's there.

No demand on anything,

Only an invitation to be what you are.

And all of life says,

Thank you.

You can imagine a flower comparing itself with the trees saying,

Oh,

I've got to get to be like them.

And the whole time is life is saying,

Oh,

My dear,

Calm down.

I've asked you to be a flower and this is what you are.

Thank you.

Relax.

Oh,

OK.

And you realize this is actually kind of easy to be what I am.

Actually kind of lovely to just be what I am.

Yeah.

You see,

In the recognition of the completeness of you,

The truth of what you already are is the naturalness of an effortlessness that place,

That enjoys,

That appreciates,

That welcomes,

That opens.

And what happens in this space of completion?

Is it anything other than a love that just flows through you?

A love that's shared with the world?

A value that's offered?

The opportunity for your heart to shine.

And so,

My friends,

The only dilemma and hear me here,

Please.

The only dilemma is an innocent misunderstanding.

A simple misunderstanding where our attention is captured by what we imagine to be real.

It's no different than watching a movie and finding yourself getting caught up in the story.

And then you realize,

Oh,

Shit,

This isn't actually happening.

And you can even go back to enjoying the movie.

It's not,

Oh,

It's not real.

I'm going to turn it off.

No,

No,

No,

No.

Calm down.

It's play.

In the same way as your imagination does what it does,

It's not in the way.

It's an opportunity to express what you are,

To play in what you are.

We're not here to turn it off.

Good luck.

You see,

It's like the movement in the mind.

The fear of the mind says,

I wish I could turn you off.

But to see the truth of the mind is to say,

Oh,

My goodness,

You're so adorable.

There's no problem.

The confusion in the mind is the assumption that its content is about you,

That it's speaking to you.

And because we feel threatened by it,

We want to turn it off.

But when you realize it's not about you,

There's no more violence to the mind.

Some of you have heard the example of the crazy neighbor.

You're out watering your garden and there's this crazy neighbor peeking his head up over the fence,

Hurling the most insane insults,

Calling you a turd stomper,

A nanny wagon,

Telling you to try harder at catching clouds.

You're doing it wrong and you're just watering your garden.

Do you see the more you think he's actually talking to you,

The more you want to destroy him?

As if you could really be something called a turd stomper.

But the more you see the impossibility of what he's saying,

He becomes adorable.

You leave him alone.

And when he yells at you,

You say,

Thank you,

You're so cute.

The crazy neighbor simply blends in with the noise of the cars passing by.

Another expression of life,

Being life.

No problem.

Could you imagine you watering the garden and cars passing by or pissing you off because they're making noise?

As if life got it wrong?

No,

It's a misunderstanding.

The noise of the cars is not in the way.

It's part of it.

A misunderstanding in the same way that you could argue with leaves falling from a tree because you think they're making a mess.

And you say these fucking leaves.

If only there were no more falling leaves,

Then I could relax.

Do you see the potential of such an argument?

Where you curse the leaves for being what they are.

Where you withhold love from the leaves because you think they're in the way.

And then one day you wake up and realize these leaves are feeding the ground on which I stand.

If it was not for them being what they are,

I would not be.

And you say,

Holy shit,

I'm sorry.

I was cursing you.

I was withholding love from you because I thought you were in the way.

And yet it's because of what you are that I can even breathe.

An innocent misunderstanding.

And it's because,

Yes,

It looks like that.

Yes,

It can look like that.

But is it really that?

Please notice this.

The misunderstanding creates the restriction of joy.

The misunderstanding creates the violence that seems to flow through you.

The misunderstanding is what takes this magic of right now and turns it into a hell.

And what I'm inviting you to see is that beyond the innocence of this confusion,

To see what actually is true,

What actually is real about life,

Is the fulfillment of everything you could possibly want.

And the question is,

Are you willing to see that?

Which means,

Are you willing to lay down your argument?

Are you willing to even peek behind it?

Are you even willing to let the leaves be the leaves?

To let life be life and be open to the possibility that maybe you're just not seeing what's actually happening?

Yeah a little bit of humility.

A little bit of openness that says,

Maybe I don't know.

And that's okay.

Because it's from that space of the unknown,

As you begin to empty out everything you think you know,

That life can show you something brand new.

And that's what this week is for.

To see something brand new,

But yet it's been there the whole time,

And to see it so profoundly clear you will also see that it never leaves.

It's not just there on the weekend.

It's the fabric of everything.

It is the fundamental nature of what is real.

It is the truth of what you are.

I am delighted to have run across Tiger on one of his lives. I’ve already listened to this talk, in its sacred entirety, 5 or 6 times, & I get more out of it each time. For me, this session covers absolutely everything. He exposes, then explains, everything that keeps me shackled. I will continue to listen to this daily, before I move onto another one of his pieces. His perspective is very different from everyone else that I’ve listened to (or read), & I look forward to his upcoming lives, as well as his recordings. Thank you ❤️
