So this video is all about how to meditate.
Whether you're a beginner,
Whether you've done meditation before.
I'm going to explain what it is really simply,
What the benefits are,
What some different types of meditations are.
Ends.
It's very simple really.
It's basically about training your mind to just focus on one single thing.
Or even to completely let go of a focus on anything and just being in your body.
So the benefits of meditation are a clearer mind,
More focus.
Less monkey mind,
More space between your thoughts and maybe more awareness of your body as well.
And there's lots of different types so there is a mantra meditation where you repeat a meaningless,
Not completely meaningless word,
But a word that doesn't really necessarily mean anything to you.
Over and over again in your mind.
There's also mudra,
Which is where you focus on specific touch points with your body.
You might have seen that classic meditating video like this.
This,
Enhanced heart,
There's also more body focused meditations like a body scan visualizing light in your body.
There is sensory awareness,
So using your five senses to tune into the world around you rather than what's happening up here.
And then there's also movement meditations and breathwork meditations.
So lots of different things.
Lots of different ways to approach meditation.
But a really nice simple one is to focus on a specific point in your body.
One that I often come back to is focusing on this space between your eyebrows,
Your third eye,
For those who are a bit more woo,
And by focusing on this space you let go of thoughts that come up and just keep coming back here.
And the idea of meditating is not to illuminate your thoughts.
It's to observe them,
To watch them like little clouds coming past in the sky or like leaves running through a river.
And rather than berating yourself or being frustrated about when a thought does come up,
The process of meditation is all about seeing it come up and then releasing it and guiding your awareness back to that space.
So.
.
.
There's lots of different meditations across the Salona library,
So have a try of a few different ones and just notice what resonates best with your body.
And give a few of them a go.
It's a really good practice to do first thing in the morning,
Last thing in the evening,
But start small.
Start with five minutes a day.
And you can build up from there.
20 minutes twice a day is chef's kiss.
But start simple and let us know which type resonates most with you.
