Welcome,
It's time to flow into a new part of your day.
As you move from one type of work to another,
As you transition from the practical to the creative,
It helps to stop and acknowledge the shift and really ease yourself in.
It's not easy to switch gears,
Especially if you feel a sense of responsibility toward other items on your to-do list,
Or if the mode that you were just in required some intense concentration or focus.
So be kind to yourself as you activate this new mode,
This new way of being.
Go ahead and get settled in your space.
Find the seated position that will work best for you today,
Either on the floor or on a chair.
Feel free to use any pillows,
Blankets,
Or any other props that you need to make yourself feel nice and comfortable.
Sit up nice and tall and place your hands on your lap.
Bring your attention to your breath.
Take a nice deep breath in here to start,
And on your exhale,
Sigh it out.
Let's do that one more time.
Nice deep inhale.
Exhale,
Open mouth,
Sigh it out.
Return to breathing here through your nose at whatever pace feels natural to you.
Simply notice the length of the inhale,
Length of the exhale.
Let's add some light movement here to release tension from your body.
Inhale,
Shrug your shoulders up toward your ears.
Exhale,
Gently release your shoulders down.
Inhale,
Shrug your shoulders up.
Feel that tension and squeeze.
Exhale,
Slowly lower your shoulders down.
Take these nice and slow.
Inhale,
Shrug your shoulders up.
Exhale to release them down.
Do this a couple more times here at your own pace.
On your next exhale,
Let your shoulders softly settle and stay there.
Inhale,
Exhale,
Tip your head to the right and bring your right ear toward your shoulder to any degree that feels comfortable.
If you'd like to,
You can also bring your right hand up to gently press against the left side of your head to get a deeper stretch through the left side of the neck.
You're welcome to try that or stay with your head tilted and just feel the release on the left.
Inhale to bring your head back to center and go ahead,
Repeat this on the other side.
Exhale,
Bring your left ear toward your left shoulder.
Allow for a release here on the right side of your neck.
And again,
You can bring your left hand up to press gently on the right side of your head if you wanna deepen the stretch a bit.
Notice here if this side feels any different from the other side.
Bring your head back to center and just breathe comfortably here,
Your hands on your lap.
Welcome to bring your eyes to a close or find a fixed gazing point that you can just stare softly at ahead of you.
To breathe comfortably in and out of the nose.
Going to step into your mind now.
Imagine yourself standing at the doorway to your mind.
The store can be any color,
Size,
Or shape you'd like.
It could be large and ornate like a castle door or maybe it's on the smaller side.
Maybe it's like the entry to the crawl space of your mind.
Choose however you'd like to enter your mind.
Go ahead now and open the store and step into the space of your mind.
What does this space look like?
Is it nice and cozy or is it a bit cluttered today and in need of a cleanup?
Is there a wide open space anywhere or are most corners occupied?
Take in this space of your mind.
As you move further into this room,
Your gaze lands on a large whiteboard just ahead of you.
As you approach it,
You see there's writing on it and you can make out some words and phrases.
These phrases might all be written in one color or maybe they're written in different colors.
All of these phrases relate to your thoughts,
Your to-do lists,
Everything that has come up for you at this point in the day.
It's everything you've addressed or trying to address.
These words,
Phrases,
And thoughts all have one thing in common that are needed for this next phase of your day.
They aren't necessary to you engaging with your creativity.
What items from your mind are floating here?
What tasks or thoughts or concerns?
Be just take a moment here to see and acknowledge them without judgment.
As you take in these items,
Go ahead and ask now that anything important or necessary to complete at a later time be tucked away and saved for later.
In response,
These items simply float off the board,
Drift down and form a tidy pile on the corner ledge of the board.
These items will be there for you when it is the right time and place for you to return to them.
They will wait for you,
But now it's time to clear some space.
The remaining words on the board are no longer needed.
On the ledge at the bottom of this whiteboard,
You see an eraser.
Take the eraser in your hand and begin to swipe it across the remaining words.
Take some time here to really clear the board so creativity and inspiration have room to come in.
Think of it as cleaning your home before company arrives,
But in this case,
The home is your mind and creativity is the honored guest.
Take a few moments to clean and clear your mental space.
Now that you have made room for it,
Call creativity to your door and give it a warm welcome.
You can imagine creativity as a ball or a ray of light,
As a person or an animal,
Whatever you think creativity looks like when it comes to visiting.
To bring it in fully,
I will read a few affirmations or mantras that you can feel free to repeat after me silently or aloud.
I call upon and welcome creativity.
I am open and receptive to creative ideas.
Allow creativity to flow through me with ease.
I'm a creative being.
I love my creativity.
I hold an abundance of creativity within me.
My creativity ignites creativity in others.
My creations are my gift to the world.
Allow these words to settle within you and take a few moments to welcome creativity and show it around your space.
Maybe when creativity sees the empty board,
It even gives you some new words or phrases to write down there.
Simply allow creativity to do its thing.
By showing up today to create,
By welcoming creativity in,
You are taking an important step that is necessary to sharing your unique gifts and magic with the world.
Slowly begin to leave this space in your mind,
Heading quietly for the door,
But allow creativity to stay and make itself comfortable.
It's now time for you to come back to your physical body so you can bring forth and share any doubts and share any downloads you receive from your creativity.
As you step out of the room and close the door,
Take a moment to thank yourself for showing up to host creativity today.
Thank your creativity for any inspiration it wishes to bring forth.
And even if you struggle with your inspiration or motivation today,
Know that just in the act of being here and doing this exercise,
You are moving in the right direction.
Inspiration could strike when you least expect it,
But by being here now,
You are showing you are ready for it.
Begin to welcome back small movements now in your body.
If you feel the creativity flowing,
Maybe you gently lean side to side,
Back and forth.
Maybe you get some energy out by wiggling fingers or toes,
Or even gently shaking out your arms or your legs.
Take whatever movements you need before opening up your eyes and coming back to your physical space.
Enjoy your time with your creativity today.
When you are ready to switch gears once again and enter creative time,
Feel free to return back to that room in your mind,
Visit with creativity again,
And wish it well before it moves on.
Be sure to tell your creativity that it is welcome back anytime.
With much love and gratitude,
I close our practice.
May we meet again soon.
Thank you so much.

This is a great visualization and inspiration that I can see myself using as a precursor to my writing sessions. I had such a clear picture of releasing worries and to do’s and welcoming in my creativity in a form that I created. Very helpful!
