Welcome to this meditation as we let go of our fear and embrace our hardships.

Now this meditation is going to be tough,

Okay,

But I am going to be with you the whole way through.

Let's start by getting into a nice upright position,

Tall spine,

Proud chest,

Shoulders back,

Ready to face whatever comes up.

Bring the eyes to close and begin to breathe in and out slowly.

As you're just getting used to your new breath pattern,

Just note that you are braced but calm,

In control,

Like a confident fighter.

So take a few moments and make sure we have control over our breath first.

Really make it your own.

Dictate exactly how long it should last and where you want to breathe into.

Alright,

Good job.

In a moment we're going to imagine some of our fears.

Now pay attention to your breath as this happens and just notice if it increases slightly or maybe not so slightly.

Just be aware of it and then guide it back to the slower pace that you've set right now.

So first thing I want you to do is tap into your future,

Your potential self.

The person you know you could be if you did things correctly all the time.

This is the person that you know you could be,

That you aspire to be like,

But for whatever reason things have gotten in the way.

Maybe one of those things that's gotten in the way is your fear of fully committing to becoming this person.

Hold that image of your ideal self in your mind.

Each breath let that image of that person just come to life a bit more.

Now I want you to connect with any fears you have of not being accepted.

Are there sometimes you want to try but you worry about what others will think or say?

Do you have this fear of judgment and others opinion?

And just for the record,

Everyone has that so don't feel any shame about it,

Just become aware of where you feel it.

Notice some of the thoughts that surround it without getting carried away by them.

Notice where in your body you feel this fear and just notice how this fear shows up.

Notice if there's a heaviness to it,

Literally pulling you down.

Okay now that we have this fear in front of us,

I want you to remind yourself that no one knows better your situation and what's right for you than you.

I want you to remind yourself of how no one is invested in what's best for you more than you.

So remind yourself that your opinion should count more than others.

With the next exhale I want you to let that feeling of fear or judgment,

That heaviness begin to exit the body.

You can use a few more breaths just to get rid of all of that fear of judgment and notice the relaxation that occurs in your body as you do.

Now bring the thought of fear and failing into your mind.

The fears of giving it a go and falling short.

The shame that you assume will come with it,

The embarrassment.

Again notice where you feel this.

Just examine these thoughts from a distance.

Notice the heaviness once again from fear of failing.

Now remind yourself that all first tries are failures and improvements can only occur after a multitude of failures.

Failure is the first step to success.

It holds within it the secret to success.

So embrace your failure,

Don't fear it.

Once again exhale out that fear and feel the relaxation that comes with letting go of that fear.

Lastly,

Bring the fear of the unknown into your mind,

Of change.

Is there some anxiety to doing things differently,

Even the things you want,

To changing,

To becoming someone else?

Maybe the fear of losing your life as you know it,

The friends.

Once again become aware of where you notice this and how it feels.

Now remind yourself that progress requires movement.

The trees need to shed in order to grow again and so do you.

Life marches on and you cannot avoid it.

The best you can do is march with it.

Your life is an adventure and adventures need to keep moving,

So embrace it.

Now take that fear and breathe it out.

Notice the relaxation that comes with it and then as you inhale,

Inhale the excitement of a new horizon.

Great job.

Now we're going to look back at some of the hardships in your life,

But we're going to ease into them.

Again if this gets too much,

Just bring your attention to your breath and come back to this when you're ready.

I want you to imagine in your mind's eye an annoyance that has occurred recently,

A traffic jam,

Someone jumping the queue in the supermarket,

Dropping your toast butter face down.

No.

All right,

You got one?

All you got to do is think of what it was and why it annoyed you.

So you may think,

Wow,

I was in a traffic jam and I am annoyed because I was going to be late.

Now your next job is to glean from the situation one positive.

So in this instance,

You're going to be late,

But you had more time to listen to a podcast you don't always get time to listen to.

If it was the toast that you didn't get to eat,

Maybe you better off without that piece of toast.

So just one thing,

Find one good in whatever that annoyance is.

Try that for me now.

Okay,

Now I want you to think of another setback,

This time something more serious,

Maybe an illness or an injury,

A breakup,

Maybe a loss.

Now this can be hard,

I know.

Think first of what it was and why it upset you so much.

Dig into the ways it disrupted your life and the things you wanted.

Now here's the work,

I want you to find something good about this situation,

Any good that came from it.

As a way of an example,

When my dad died I was 27,

It was horrible,

Heartbreaking,

But his loss taught me an important lesson about wasting life and not doing what you love.

And that changed the course of my life.

So now you try,

Find the good even amongst the bad.

Okay,

Good job.

Slowly come back into the room,

Noticing how the seat feels that you're in,

How your spine feels up tall,

How your chest feels proud,

And how strong you are.

And slowly open those eyes.

So finding the good in the bad is like a flower finding the crack in the pavement to grow out of.

There's always space for it,

Sometimes you just need to look a little bit harder.

I'll see you soon.

Namaste.

Good work,

I know that can be a super hard meditation to do,

So well done for making it all the way through.

If you enjoyed this,

Then you're going to love my course,

How to Bloom This Spring.

It's got lots of personal development actions like this meditation and others,

So go check it out,

I think you're going to love it.
