You had every intention of getting to sleep at a reasonable hour, but it didn't happen. Now you need to unwind and get to sleep. With a short body scan, gratitude list, and guided imagery, this meditation will help you leave the worries of the day behind you and drift off to sleep. This is a longer version adapted from the 5-minute sleep meditation and has no music.

Welcome to Take Your Coaching Guided Meditation.

This meditation will help you drift off to sleep.

To begin,

Find a comfortable position lying down.

Once settled,

Close your eyes and check in with how you feel right now in this moment.

Now flash through your day remembering things that went well.

Maybe your work presentation was a success or the weather outside was really nice.

If you can,

Think of three things you're grateful for specific to today.

Now let the day go.

You did your best,

It's done,

And time for sleep.

To help you unwind,

Do a body scan,

Noticing any areas of tightness or tension.

Perhaps starting at the bottoms of your feet,

Working all the way up to the top of your head.

Soften any areas of tightness with your breath.

So if you notice your shoulders are tight at the end of the day,

Send your breath to your shoulders,

Allowing them to relax,

Let go and drop heavy.

If you notice your lower back tense,

Direct your breath there,

Allowing the muscles to loosen up.

Allowing the muscles to soften their hold.

Use the next few moments to send your breath to any other areas that need to soften and relax.

Now in your mind's eye,

Picture a place,

Real or imaginary,

Where you feel most safe and relaxed.

This could be your favorite vacation spot,

Like at the beach,

Or maybe your favorite room in your home.

Imagine walking towards this special place.

Before you get there,

You see a gate and a large,

Beautiful tree outside the gate.

In order to enter your safe place,

You need to leave the worries of the day behind you.

So imagine standing in front of this tree and see yourself hanging words that symbolize anything that is on your mind.

This could be worries,

Stressors,

Things you need to do,

Anything that may get in the way of your sleep.

Notice tension leaving your body as you put your worries out of your mind.

And onto this tree.

See yourself opening the gate,

Walking through,

And entering your special place.

Notice what makes this place so relaxing to you.

What do you see around you?

What sounds do you hear?

Relax more into this space,

Knowing you have nothing to do,

No place to be.

Feel your body completely relaxed.

And feeling yourself slowly drifting off to sleep.

Thank you for watching!

I was not so sure at the beginning. Then my last thought before I dozed off was β€œthis builds up really well”. No idea how it ended, so I’m curious to hear it again.

This is my new favorite sleep meditation. I like how you help me to reflect on the day and then let go of it in order to be ready to sleep. Thus all thoughts from the day are not floating around in my mind anymore. Love it. I came back to it regularly. Thank you! πŸ™
