Welcome to your practice today.
I invite you to draw quiet,
To draw close to the rhythms of your heart,
And to really sink in today as we go through this journey,
This exploration of calm place together.
Find yourself a comfortable seat,
Whatever position you feel best supported in,
Whether that's sitting or lying down.
Listen to your body today.
Give in to what it needs.
Gently close the windows of your eyes and start to breathe.
Gently in and gently out.
There is no specific way to breathe today with your practice.
At any time,
If you feel distracted by thoughts,
By sounds outside of your room,
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
Feel the coolness of your inhalation and the warmth as you let go.
On your next inhalation,
I invite you to picture that breath traveling down your spine,
Through your root,
And into the earth,
Grounding you down into the present moment.
Feeling the surface that you sit or you lay upon supporting you today.
Breathing in and breathing out,
Feeling that beautiful swell of your chest and your belly.
Allowing yourself to start to drift off.
Your mind grows quiet.
Your heart is at ease today.
On your next inhalation,
Starting to draw to mind a space where you feel calm,
Where you feel at peace,
You feel quiet.
Often these spaces are somewhere in nature and rarely do they exist in our physical world.
They live and breathe and exist there within you.
Because it's a space that you create just for you.
A space of calm,
A space of peace.
As this scene starts to unfold in your mind with each breath that you take,
Start to draw in the details.
Noticing what's around you.
Are you somewhere in nature?
Or perhaps somewhere more suburban?
What does the air feel like across your skin?
Paying attention to the colors that surround you.
Taking notice of every detail here in this calm place.
As you begin to explore,
Looking for other elements,
Sounds that you can hear.
Noticing if there's water nearby.
Making out if there's anyone else there in your presence.
People,
Animals,
Beings.
Whatever shows up for you today is perfect just as it is.
Here in this space beautifully created just for you.
You're safe.
Because this space lives within you,
It's one that you create.
You can come back here anytime that you need it.
Anytime you're feeling threatened,
You're feeling sad,
Angry,
Confused or upset.
You can breathe your way back here.
Continuing to explore this space and finding somewhere within to take a seat.
Knowing that this space is just for you.
No one else needs to know about it unless you choose to let them in.
As you take a seat,
I invite you to recognize how you show up in this space.
What are you wearing?
Do you have shoes on your feet or are they bare?
How does your hair fall across your shoulders?
Recognize who you are in this space and how you feel.
In this space you can unravel.
You can grow in your vulnerability and you can just breathe.
As you grow comfortable here looking out over the expansiveness of your space,
I invite you now to choose two words that represent what this space is for you.
Whatever comes without being forced,
Two words.
And on your next inhalation,
Saying one of them to yourself.
On your exhalation,
Saying the other.
And inviting these words to become your anchor.
In times of stress,
In times of worry,
To get back here all you need to do is simply close your eyes,
Grow quiet,
Inhale and exhale.
Those beautiful anchor words.
Breathing in and breathing out.
This space,
So beautifully created just for you here today,
Is one that lives within.
Placing your hands over your heart.
Feeling the rhythm beneath your hands.
Starting to draw your awareness back into your body.
Feeling the coolness of your inhalation and the warmth as you let go.
This calm place is yours and yours alone.
You can come back here anytime.
It exists within.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Coming back fully into the present moment.
Back into your body.
Back into your home.
Calm and at peace.
