This short meditation is aimed at helping you to find a place of calm within yourself. You can use this meditation when you feel overwhelmed, anxious or ungrounded as a way of finding peace. You can also use this meditation as a daily morning practise as a way of anchoring yourself before you enter into your day. This meditation encourages the listener to take a 'snapshot' of their peaceful place to come back to whenever needed.

Hi this is Susie.

Thanks for listening today.

I've created this meditation as a way to try and help you when you feel overwhelmed by something that happens unexpectedly,

Something that's challenging in your day.

This is a way for you to come back to a place of calm.

It's not necessary to be in a place of distress when you listen to this meditation,

Although hopefully it will help you if that's how you're feeling right now.

Ideally you might listen to it each morning at the very start of your day as a way of focusing your mind and creating a space for yourself that you can come back to during your day whenever you need or want to.

So let's start by taking a deep cleansing full breath.

Make yourself as comfortable as possible.

It doesn't matter if you're lying or sitting or even standing,

Just trying to get into a position that feels comfortable,

A position where it's possible for you to relax.

Then take another breath in and as you exhale gently close your eyes.

Allow your mind to slow down.

Allow your body to become a little bit more heavy.

Then start to visualize in your mind's eye a light in whatever color or colors it appears to you.

You start to walk towards the light and notice that it's coming from a doorway.

You're curious as to what is there so you slowly approach and see that beyond the doorway is a path lit by this beautiful light.

You step onto the path and notice that you feel lighter.

You continue to walk along the path of beautiful light that is reflecting all around you and feel a great sense of safety and calm within this light.

As you continue along the path you see that it opens out into a beautiful grassy plain.

You can hear birds singing and you can feel the cool breeze on your face.

You can smell the scent of blossom on the trees.

You look around you to see pink and white flowers budding on the trees around and above you.

You continue to walk ahead and feel the soft grass like a carpet underneath your feet.

You can hear in the distance the sound of water trickling.

You move towards the sound and a stream comes into view.

As you walk towards the stream you see that it's flowing gently over rocks and pebbles.

The water is beautifully clear and the sun reflects off the surface making it sparkle.

You sit down next to the stream feeling completely relaxed,

Completely safe and completely calm in this beautiful environment.

It's warm and the breeze calls you.

Take a moment here to really absorb what you are sensing.

The sound of the birds,

The sound of the water,

The feel of the soft grass underneath you.

You dip your toe into the stream and feel the tickle of the water over your feet.

You see the reflections of the sun on the water.

You look around you in taking the glorious colors of nature and take a snapshot here in your mind.

All these different details really focus your attention now as if you are taking a photograph.

Take it in and let it make its imprint on you.

Take a deep breath and remember how it feels to be so safe and calm.

Know that you can come back to this place at any time regardless of where you are or what you're doing.

You don't even have to close your eyes if it's not possible to do so.

But you can access this place whenever you need to.

As you go through your day or your evening remember that you can come back to this place of calm at any time.

When you're ready take one final breath in and exhale out of your mouth.

Slowly open your eyes come back to where you are.
