All right,
I'd like to invite you into the present moment for another class.
And how exciting it is,
Because most of the time we deal with the mundane.
It's fun to be entertained.
There might be a good show on,
Some nice music,
A good friend to visit.
But isn't it nice to connect in spirit?
Isn't it nice to have – it's a part of our life we really need to stock up on maybe,
Or keep full on ourself.
When we get depleted of spirit,
Our life doesn't really have the same quality,
Does it?
You can make tons of money and have lots of fun.
But if your soul isn't nurtured,
You're not really as happy as you could be.
So I want to nurture your soul,
And I want to let you breathe in.
And the first thing we can do is just recognize,
I have a soul.
I am a soul.
There is a God.
There is a life.
There is something wonderful about existence that I want to pull out of my problems,
And my issues,
And my stories,
And plug into God.
Plug into spirit.
Whatever word you want to use,
Let's plug into here and now,
Maybe is the way we want to put it.
This divine presence that is always present,
But we may not be present to feeling its presence.
And so that's what this class is.
It's really a matter of saying,
Let's remember who we are and why we were born.
Let's reconnect with ourself.
Let's unplug from our day and the craziness that goes on in life,
And gain perspective again.
Gain some sense of love,
I think,
More than anything else.
I just want you to feel good.
Know that it's going to be okay.
This too shall pass.
Life is a series of changes that we're just adapting to,
And it's like surfing.
Surfing is an activity I love to engage in.
It serves as a really good metaphor,
Because all of life you're being hit with different kinds of energy.
We live in an ocean of energy,
And people's thoughts,
And moods,
And words,
And actions all affect us.
And our thoughts,
Moods,
And actions affect others.
And so we're always interacting,
And it can be a positive or a negative.
It can be a clashing,
A melding,
A distortion,
An enhancement.
And so what we want to do is really kind of become aware of where we're at.
Let's start our class with that.
We just breathe in and say,
Okay,
What state am I in?
And then recognize it.
Okay,
Have I just been in my head?
Have I been in my humanness?
Have I been in some tumultuous activity,
Some neurological discharge?
What levels of dopamine and serotonin am I producing?
What is my mood?
And if you look at it kind of objectively or scientifically,
You kind of can take charge over the body-mind vehicle.
And that's the context I want to invite you into,
Is starting to step back as the witness or the observer and see the body and mind as the vehicle.
And from this place,
You can better attune it,
And align it,
And repair it,
And fix it,
And design it so it works better for you.
And in this place,
You can kind of think about what is better for you.
Because maybe the anger,
Or disappointment,
Or other emotion that you've been dealing with isn't serving you anymore.
And it's that time when you kind of wake up again and say,
Okay,
Well,
Where am I at?
What's my state?
And as I like to say,
You start to take charge or responsibility for your state of consciousness.
And you say,
You know what?
I'm choosing to be conscious,
Regardless of what he or she said,
Or regardless of what things happened out there that I like or dislike.
All your liking and disliking,
And all your actions and reactions are simply an outer thing affecting your inner thing.
But whether it's inner or outer,
Whatever that thing is,
There's something outside of the whole thing.
Watching this thing,
Like watching a movie,
And that's where I want to go with you today.
So I thought today it would be,
Well,
It would be hooverous to develop this faculty of awareness from within ourselves.
So I thought it'd be fun to draw from my book,
The Calling,
A journey within your own being,
Which really is a result of me being in a,
I don't know,
A euphoric state.
And I was thinking,
How can I share this with others?
How can I help my friends get into this place of higher consciousness where you're floating above your thoughts and feelings,
And seeing everything from outside of it,
Looking back into the reality that it is the illusion of our own mind.
And so as I reflected on these things,
I said,
Well,
Just keep some,
Back then,
It was all paper.
So I had a notebook and a pen,
And I just,
I would just start writing down stuff.
And then I'd go back in and I'd sit.
And I did this for days.
I was basically sitting in meditation all day and night.
Different ideas would come and I'd say,
Well,
Write that down,
Write that down.
And I kind of threw my notes together and it became the book,
The Calling.
It's not very well written,
But it gets to the point,
I think,
Which is,
What is that which enables us to reflect on this?
Because the this that is reflecting on this is what makes us unique among animals,
Even unique among human beings.
The stack of awareness,
The sentientness.
This is what man takes such great pride in,
That we are sentient beings.
We have a higher consciousness.
So we like to think over,
Say,
Whales or monkeys.
And perhaps even in some ways we do,
But it doesn't,
In other ways we don't.
We're clearly not very connected to Source as much as many animals can be.
And so we have what I would call this tremendous latent potential that is sometimes reflected upon scientifically as how much of a percent of our brain do we use?
And the numbers have changed in the way they,
I don't know,
Count the beings,
The beings being your neurons and which ones are firing.
And in between,
There's a white matter and a gray matter.
There's these long axions which have become the freeways of your thought,
Essentially.
What you're thinking is the movement between the neurons.
And so the construct of neurons in your brain have formed their own idea of who they think you are.
And your brain hasn't had much time to step out of its own mental processing,
To observe its own nature as a brain,
Or to realize that there's something outside of the brain itself that is observing the brain.
And so one of the great leaps of consciousness for humanity that I and the Self-Wornness Institute and most of the teachers in the enlightenment are teaching is this concept of there being a consciousness,
Or it may be a higher consciousness,
A higher state from which you can observe your own thoughts and emotions.
And in this state,
You're less reactive,
Less maybe pulled into the emotions.
So there will be less these influxes of dopamine and serotonin and peptides and hormones,
This cocktail that creates the hell that we live in,
This being angry or upset or fearful or just dacing,
Screwed up or whatever.
What causes the negativity in our life is actually an aberrant behavior in the mind.
So to take control,
We are now taking this journey together within our own being.
So I want to invite you into that.
Let's start by just checking in with our self and saying,
Well,
Where am I at?
What state am I in?
And what part of me brought me here to this self-reflection?
And let's reflect on that for a minute because how many people in the world really stop and have a self-reflective moment?
And if you go to a neighbor,
A friend,
A relative,
And you tell them,
Well,
You know,
I practice meditating or I have a self-reflective moment or I'm developing my mind to become more conscious,
They might look at you funny.
They may not be sure of what you're saying.
But more and more from the time I was born to these 60 some years later,
That's not such a strange question to ask or to think about anymore.
We're beginning to realize that there's something to be realized.
So this is kind of the start in our journey.
If we're going on this journey with our own being to discover our self and our purpose in life,
If we really are being called to awaken from this dream and to remember who we are and why we were born,
What is it to remember?
I mean,
This is the most fundamental thing any human being could ask themselves,
But rarely do.
So let's take the time this time,
This moment to ask,
Well,
Who am I?
Who am I?
Take a deep breath and ask yourself,
Who am I?
And why was I born?
And as long as I'm asking these big questions,
What's God?
And what's this relationship between me and God and the world?
Like,
What's it all about?
Isn't that kind of,
Is it really just to have more kids and to make money or just to be a good person and not think about it beyond that?
Is it really enough just to say,
Well,
I lived for 80 years and I didn't hurt anyone?
Or I believe in Jesus or something else,
So I can check that off my list?
Or is there more to life?
And I want to suggest to you that there is more to life.
From my experience personally and from teaching for over 30 years,
There is absolutely more to life.
In fact,
Most people are like robots that are just living.
They're just existing.
And I feel sorry for them.
Like dumb animals that don't know that happiness is right in front of them.
There's a kingdom of heaven that's calling to every human being.
And they live in ignorance of this light that is their own being.
So when we find,
Or if I can ignite or help ignite,
It's already in you,
Right?
It's like a pilot.
Your spark of divinity,
The spirit that you are is already there.
You don't have to climb a mountain to get it.
You don't need a guru to find it.
But it might help to do either,
Just like going to a yoga retreat or a seminar.
The idea is what supports your growth?
What helps you dig deeper within yourself to find that truth,
To find yourself?
I'm going to invite you to breathe in and open your heart.
Maybe start with,
I'm open to receive.
I'm open to receive the guidance.
That's what helped me the most.
I read all,
As you know,
I read most of the spiritual books of the world.
When I was writing my book on world religions,
I've been an academic on this subject for most of my life.
You don't get it from a book,
Ever.
It's good to feed the mind good stuff.
It helps entrain the mind so that you can not be subjugated by the mind.
You can expand your awareness.
But for me,
It was moments like this where the teacher was guiding me and where I was connecting energetically.
And that's the key,
Is you go to a different vibration where your senses aren't – it's like the aperture of your awareness.
If you simply put all your energy into what you're seeing or hearing and what you want to think about,
Or what your emotion is,
Then all that energy is kind of in a tightly formed channel.
But if you sit back like we do in meditation or in a class,
You can kind of step back from that.
Your aperture widens,
In other words.
You begin to get a periphery,
Even a 360 degree,
Even an infinite degree,
You might say,
Because all of a sudden the vehicle perception no longer has an aperture in a way.
It's like you move beyond the vehicle into the awareness itself.
Your own awareness is indistinguishable from the awareness itself,
Which is the reality.
So I want to invite you to breathe in and just be aware of that which brought you here to hear these words,
And that which is compelling you to evolve yourself,
To develop yourself,
To enlighten.
And just let's reinforce that instinct we have.
This evolution of consciousness is our own destiny unfolding.
Think about it.
If there was a destiny in your life,
Wouldn't it be a good thing to check in on that?
That's why we have the Self-Awareness Institute.
Most people are just running around like chickens with their head cut off.
And even if they know yoga,
Even if they teach yoga,
They don't necessarily know themself.
So the key to the whole thing,
Life,
Happiness,
Is to know yourself.
And the Greeks discovered this.
It's in the Bible.
It's in the Torah.
It's in,
Well,
It's even in the Koran.
It's in the polycanon.
It's the basis of Hinduism and yoga philosophy.
Know thyself.
Get to know who you are.
So breathe in and let's reflect on that.
Let's take a journey within our own being.
And if you'd like,
Just bring your hands up for a minute.
I'd like to send you some love.
You're protected and guided by the Divine.
And all your activities day and night in all places.
Blessings to your Mother and Father,
Your Gurus and Guides.
Think of the Lord.
Think of the Divine.
And let's gaze into our mind's eye as we have this discussion and we reflect upon the nature of our self.
I want to invite you just to engage your third eye to invoke the relaxation response and also to feel your life force so that this isn't just a passive learning experience for you,
But it's a visceral plug-in.
So as you breathe in,
Just plug into the energy now and feel it moving into your body.
So it's building you up.
It's restoring you.
It's helping to,
Not just cell regeneration,
But it's literally feeding your soul.
So breathe in and feel the love and realize you are the love.
That which causes life within you is you.
So as you hear me speak and we reflect together,
We're really just staying connected with this because the propensity of our mind is to go elsewhere.
We get distracted easily by something on a digital device,
Or something said,
Or something we see.
So let's take this time to focus on the sense of awareness itself,
To become more conscious of our own consciousness,
To become more aware.
Breathe in and connect with your life force.
Now you can bring your hands back down and just imagine the energy exuding out of you.
So what are the ways we can start what I'll call this,
We can call it jnana yoga if you want,
Vedanta.
Direct awareness by simply putting awareness on that which is aware of directing awareness upon itself.
Now your mind is thinking about your mind.
Now you are directing your mind to start,
Instead of just looking what's out there,
You're still aware of sound,
But now your mind is kind of like turning and looking within itself.
And we can just say,
Okay,
Let's be present to our bones,
You know,
Maybe the most firm part of our body.
We have a cell structure,
We're not denying it.
So let's check in with that.
What is that?
Well,
You got skin,
You got bones,
You got flesh,
Meat,
Fat,
Sinuous tissues,
You know,
There's nerve tissue,
Limb tissue,
All kinds of stuff going on.
Let's check in with that.
Let's meditate on the physical part of our being.
So just imagine where your skull is and how your spine is.
Are you sitting up straight?
Are you balanced?
Are you connected?
Can you feel the energy?
There's energy flowing through the body.
So the bones are there and then so there's a certain way everything's creasing and there's cartilage in the joints,
Discs between each vertebra.
There's energy flowing up and down the spine through your nervous system.
You might just picture the branches,
Kind of like a root system.
You've got these nerves coming out from the center of your spinal column and they grow out.
They go in between the muscles and fat and extend out into your fingers and toes.
Giant strain like a T1 line or like a cable that comes into your house from the street with wires.
You know,
You got all these wires going up your spine and now they're extending out into your brain.
Just picture that energy as you gaze in your mind's eye.
You know,
We call this life force energy our Kundalini.
And so this energy is moving up through your central nervous system,
Coming up to the top of the head,
Flying out.
Just observe.
You may not have much of a sensation.
It doesn't matter.
The point is that you're aware that there's energy flowing in your nervous system and you're thinking and that thought itself is a movement of energy through fields of neurons in your brain,
Which are essentially taking your awareness and now like a funnel.
It's taking awareness and it's moving it into a single stream.
And so as I go through these words,
Your awareness,
Your consciousness is going from word to word to word.
That's creating a linear stream of consciousness.
Thought is streaming consciousness.
Your thoughts are consciousness being streamed.
You see?
So it contracts your awareness.
You see your awareness is contracted.
Think of a hose.
Now you're closing the nozzle and there's a stream.
Okay,
I'm just thinking about what Stephen is saying.
Or I'm thinking about what's on the test or what's on the TV.
And all of a sudden your awareness is in a linear stream and that's how time and space are created.
Your awareness is contracted to a linear perspective that's moving.
And you experience that quite literally as energy,
Life force energy in your brain going from neuron to neuron to neuron to neuron to neuron,
Maybe thousands in the split second.
And maybe they're branching out,
Branching out to the visual cortex,
Into the audible cortex,
Into a memory of the past,
Into an imagination of the future.
And all of this is happening just like a computer processing a thousand things in seconds in order for you to have the experience of say Game of Thrones or to play an online game.
You know,
Your brain is functioning in all these patterns.
But when you step back from the patterns,
You become the player again.
You see,
You realize you're just playing a game or you're just watching a movie.
And that all that neurological activity is creating a reality that's only a part of the reality.
In effect,
It's a projection of a reality from your own head.
So sit back,
Take a deep breath.
Let me read to you a little bit.
So it starts off,
Take a deep breath,
Sit back and relax.
And as you exhale,
Just feel yourself.
Let's just imagine we're stepping into a hot bubble jacuzzi or one of those kiddie pools or a bubble bath.
You know,
Whatever,
Whatever is fun and enjoyable and relaxing for you.
Use the creative relaxation and the creative imagination,
Creative visualization to create the relaxation response.
Feel the warmth.
Feel how relaxed you are in the pool.
Nothing to worry about.
The sun's coming down.
Baking all your thoughts.
Just,
They're melting.
All your thoughts,
All your worries are melting,
Dripping.
And all that remains is love.
Take a deep breath.
You are about to embark on a journey within your own being.
So just like maybe a parent,
You know,
Reading you a story or watching a good show on TV or in the movies.
Let me,
Let me take you into a dream.
The dream of your own awaken or the awakening of your own,
From your own dream.
For you are being called to awaken from the dream,
To remember who you are and why you were born.
So you may fulfill the purpose of your existence.
Well,
True to form,
I'm going to stop just reading from my book.
I'm going to ask you to,
To think about that.
I put forth a suggestion that you are awakening from a dream and that you're remembering who you are and why you were born.
But let me ask you something.
How does that feel?
Does that feel right?
I don't want you to just believe me.
Don't just take it as a truth.
Cause I say it.
Not,
Not that I wouldn't.
I'm just sharing my truth with you or I'm sharing the way I think that'll help you find your own truth.
Really.
Is there a purpose?
Do you feel a sense of purpose to your existence?
Have you pondered your existence?
So let's just reflect on this.
What's the hurry?
You are being called to awaken from the dream,
To remember who you are and why you were born.
So you may fulfill the purpose of your existence.
Well,
My friends,
If there's even one,
I owe to a truth to any of this.
That's profound.
It should get your,
The hairs standing up on the back of your neck.
All your previous studies have prepared you for this moment and your awakening has already begun.
You have been called to be here,
To hear,
To listen.
That which is compelling you to listen to me will continue to guide you to full self-realization.
The book is just a guide.
My voice,
The sound of my voice,
Me,
I'm just a guide.
Rather it's your listening that is your guide.
The part of you that is listening already knows.
So the part of you that already knows is connecting with the part of me that already knows.
Your spirit is connecting with my spirit.
Now the spirit is guiding us.
So this book is a guided meditation.
So then rather than just listening to it,
Connect with the energy that's coming through you as you listen to these words and allow the listening to be a proactive experience.
Stop for a moment after listening to what I'm saying and let's just reflect upon what is being said.
Each statement is designed to help you connect with the part of you that already knows this.
As you were listening,
This kind of inner knowing,
Inner feeling will start to develop and start to guide you.
It'll guide you to your own inner knowing.
It's really a reflection.
It's like a mirror.
It's like me taking a mirror up to you and saying,
Look,
Look here,
Look at yourself and now you begin to reflect.
So for you to reflect,
If your mind is busy,
It's like throwing these pebbles in a pond.
And once you hit,
Once the pebble hits the pond,
Rings of energy come out from the center,
Don't they?
So this is why your mind goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on.
But if you stop throwing pebbles,
If you stop feeding your mind with your attention,
You'll find that the turbulence on the surface diminishes.
Your mind calms down and a self-reflective quality becomes apparent.
So as you look at the reflection in the pond,
It reflects back to you your own nature.
In the same way your mind as it becomes still like a placid lake,
It reflects back to you the nature of yourself.
It reflects back to you that which is observing the reflection.
What is that that can reflect upon itself?
It is yourself.
You are the consciousness itself.
Take a deep breath and reflect on that.
It is no coincidence that you are listening to these words at this particular time in your life.
It is no coincidence.
Does that feel right to you?
Does it seem like it's not a coincidence?
That there's something happening as you reflect?
Like this,
The part of you that kind of knows this is egging you on kind of maybe encouraging you to try and get it.
Just take a deep breath and listen.
You have come to this pivotal point in the evolution of your consciousness where you are now ready to fully remember who you are and why you were born so you can fulfill the purpose of your existence.
Let's take a deep breath and reflect on that.
So now try saying it to yourself as an affirmation and see how it feels.
I have come to this pivotal point in the evolution of my consciousness where I am now ready to fulfill my life purpose.
I'm ready to remember who I am and why I was born so I can fulfill the purpose of my existence.
Does that feel right?
Does that feel true?
Does that feel like something you'd want to believe even?
You know,
I'm kind of going into your subconscious like a hypnotist.
And so I don't want to put the imprint there unless you want it.
I want you to think about it.
Let's reflect on it right now.
Take a deep breath again.
Gaze into your mind's eye and reflect with me.
I have come,
I'm referring to the mind,
Right?
My mind has come to this pivotal point in its evolution where it is now ready to fully remember who I am,
Why I was born with the intention of fulfilling the purpose of my existence.
So there's the sense of feeling ready.
I am ready in declaring it.
I am ready to remember.
I'm ready to fully remember who I am.
I'm ready to remember.
I want to remember.
I'm dying to remember.
I see how it will help me to know why I was born.
So I want to know,
God,
Please help me.
Why was I born?
And there is a sense of me fulfilling,
A sense of me coming to know or to do or to realize something.
There is this sense of having a purpose to it all.
And there appears to be a purpose just observing existence itself.
So if existence itself has a purpose and I'm a part of existence,
I ought to at least know to some extent what part I play in existence and the purpose of existence.
So I have,
Let's repeat it now.
So I've talked to you for a minute and a half or so,
Right?
Let's repeat the affirmation because then it gets logged into the long-term memory of your brain.
I have come to the pivotal point in the evolution of my consciousness where I am now ready to fully remember who I am and why I was born so I can fulfill the purpose of my existence.
So now there's some devices we can add to this.
I can help you.
One is the hearing of it.
One is realizing you're hearing it and the information is being downloaded through your subconscious into a part of your brain where neurons can remember all this.
So now you know you've stored this idea of you one,
You know,
Coming to this pivotal point in your life,
That there's a two,
An evolution occurring in your consciousness,
Three,
That you're like ready to remember.
And what you're remembering is four,
Is who you are,
What this I am is,
Right?
Five,
Why I was born,
Six,
So that there's some purpose to your existence and existence itself and seven that you're going to find it.
You can find and fulfill this purpose.
So now the mind has reflected on it.
Energy has gone into the neurons.
It's created a thought form.
You're sitting here watching it as you're creating it.
So you're seeing the power of how you can create thought forms in your mind.
And now I can ask you,
How does that feel?
You can start layering on to make it more powerful.
Use the neuro-linguistic programming where we create associations and create anchors and create ways that this thought form can be more powerful.
So you hear it.
You can see it.
Do you see yourself coming to this point?
See your life kind of unfolding like a movie and say,
Okay,
The hero,
The protagonist in the movie of my life,
Which is after all about me,
I've come to this pivotal point.
You see it.
You're the screenwriter.
You've just written this in.
It's like a new chapter.
Okay.
All these things have been preparing me.
All these trials and challenges have prepared me.
And now you're in this moment in your movie.
Pivotal point.
Something's dawning on you.
Oh my God,
What's happening?
You're beginning to remember it.
Can you see it in your mind's eye?
Can you see your human personality and your own brain beginning to process the thought,
The neurons,
Like remembering all this?
Like my mind is remembering there's more to me than my mind.
Does your mind even know that?
And how does your own mind feel about it?
Does it feel good about it?
It should.
I mean,
I would think it would.
It expands who you are and that you're fulfilling something.
There's a sense of fulfillment.
There's certainly more to be fulfilled in your existence.
You would hope so to your last breath.
I hope so.
I hope your whole experience of existence is fulfilling.
And it is fulfilling now because in fact,
In this moment,
You're actually engaged in one of the most important parts of your whole existence,
Which is coming to know what your existence is about.
It's about knowing what you're about.
So there should,
I could use should,
I'll say,
I'll suggest that it's a should anyway.
You should feel good about that.
I feel good about evolving myself to the point where I at least think about what my own existence is about.
Think about something maybe a little bit bigger than just myself too.
And does that feel good?
So acknowledge the part of you that already knows this.
I mean,
Isn't what I'm telling you something you really already know?
Not only because maybe you've read something about it before or been on my satsang,
My talks,
But perhaps you just knew or got it from a book or other teacher.
There's a knowingness we don't want to just sit idly by and say,
Okay,
Well,
I know because the knowingness doesn't have an end.
And that's the point that we grow that knowingness.
Acknowledge the part of you that knows or senses that one,
You're ready to take that next step.
Two,
Acknowledge the part of you that knows you're ready to evolve yourself to that next level.
Three,
Remember or acknowledge that part of you that realizes that your full potential and the value in realizing your full potential,
That you use enlightening.
Take a deep breath.
Let's just anchor that in.
So now as you continue to listen to what I'm saying,
I want you to notice the part of you that is listening.
Now let's do a little self-awareness exercise in the listening.
Because there's several parts to listening.
There's a physiological part.
There's energy moving from some digital device,
Presumably a phone,
Could be a notepad or computer.
And the machine is simulating the sound of my voice.
My voice is entering into the machine,
My phone.
It's traveling through microwaves and fiber optic cable,
Different passage in just a second,
Entering into your room.
Now just imagine whether it's an earplug or a speaker,
There's some distance,
There's some air that the sound is moving through.
And literally your eardrum,
Just picture the cartilage like a satellite dish.
You got these.
And that's what they do really.
The cartilage helps channel the energy,
The vibration.
And there's this little tube into your eardrum and there's a little drum,
Little piece of flesh,
Just taught like a drum.
And the sound is going in,
It's vibrating that little drum.
So just as you hear the sound of my voice,
Feel the vibration.
See if you can feel the sound,
Like there's a literal energy moving through the air.
And through that energy,
There's love,
There's Shakti,
The Divine is speaking through me,
It's being heard through you,
It's wearing through all of us.
The speaker and the listener are one,
Different cells in the same hand of God.
And so we connect through this energy and I want you to feel that kind of like the Holy Spirit.
You have life force,
I have life force.
We're all drawing life force from the same source,
The same spirits flowing through us all.
And the fact is we all are the Spirit.
And so connect in the Spirit and feel it in your body,
Feel the life force moving in your head.
Maybe your head is buzzing as you hear the sound of my voice.
And now there's also the vibration itself.
Now there's a little curly bone.
I don't need to go into what a kink cochlea is,
But the point being is like Morse code,
There's a tapping,
There's a certain vibration on and off,
Up and down.
It begins to move through the nerve fibers in your brain into the part of your mind where the cells are store the memory of sounds and words and what they mean.
And so you just might imagine this energy moving through your head,
Be the observer of the listener,
Observe your brain processing sounds.
And now you know this is Swamiji or Steven or Sai,
Whatever you call me.
You recognize there's a person.
You recognize the context.
You recognize that we're talking about a certain subject,
Self-reflection,
Say.
We're talking about hearing.
And you've known things about ears and hearing from anatomy to the sense,
The biology part of it.
You've heard me talk about consciousness before,
Perhaps and now.
So different parts of your brain are all engaging in this process of self-reflecting and understanding.
And there's several levels of things going on.
There's the physical hearing.
There's the mechanical process of registering sounds and the words and then the meaning of the words.
And as all these meanings like building blocks,
Like Legos or something or pieces of a puzzle start coming together,
A thought.
The thought is like a compilation of the words and their meanings coming together to form a greater understanding.
So here we are compiling all these ideas and reflecting on them.
And then there's some other part of us that's looking at all the ideas that our brain is compiling.
So there's all these different levels I want you to engage.
I want you to keep stepping back and see that,
Okay,
My brain is doing stuff.
And there's a thought process.
There's maybe an emotion behind it.
There's maybe a cognition,
The part of me going,
Do I understand what he's saying?
How much of what is being said do I really understand?
And you can reflect and then you can say to yourself,
There's yet another level.
What part of me is aware of my own self-reflection?
And if you go to the source of that,
You can ask yourself,
What part of me wants to self-reflect?
Where does the impetus to self-reflect and know myself come from?
Realize your potential to evolve higher consciousness.
For that what you are seeking is causing you to seek.
Breathe,
Take a deep breath.
Let's connect again.
And watch the sound again.
Watch the sound.
Just observe the sound coming through the room,
Coming into your ear.
Observe your listening.
Observe your thinking.
Observe yourself observing your thinking.
Observe yourself observing the part of you that is observing your thinking about what you were listening to.
So you were listening,
Then you were thinking,
And then you were observing your thinking and now you're observing the part of you that is observing your thinking.
Now observe the observer observing the observing.
Breathe in slowly through the nose.
Let's try that again.
And observe your mind doing whatever it's doing.
Observe it.
And then observe there's a part of you observing your mind.
I can observe my mind thinking and I can observe there's a part of me observing my mind thinking.
And now observe the part of you that can observe that part of you observing your mind thinking and just be aware of it.
Now be aware of the awareness itself.
Just be the awareness itself.
Now be aware without a self.
Just be the awareness itself.
And now observe this.
Now surrender observing anything.
Observe nothing.
And now observe thoughts coming from nothing.
Observe the thought.
Observe the space between you and your thought.
Observe the space between your thoughts.
Observe what lies beyond your thoughts.
Just observe thoughts as if they were clouds coming and going.
Clouds appear to come out of nowhere and they dissipate again.
They come and go but what's different?
Well if you think of the sky as consciousness and within this consciousness are these polarities positive and negative.
Hydrogen is the best example of a positive.
That's what it is,
Is an element.
Simply a positive element.
It's a proton.
So they get together.
They create a density that appears to create a differentiation in the sky.
You say well there's blue over here and white over there or maybe dark gray.
You appear to see differentiation in the sky.
The sky is just the sky but what's appearing in the sky changes.
So sit back in the sky of your awareness and observe what arises and dissipates within your own mind.
Observe the thinking.
And then observe the part of you that's observing the thinking.
And then observe that which is observing the thinking.
Observe the listening.
Observe the sound.
What were you doing before the class?
Observe your mind.
Go over there remembering what I had for breakfast.
I'm thinking about what I'm going to do later after class.
You can move your mind all over the place where you want it.
See you can move it wherever you want.
Two plus two is what?
Your name is what?
You know I mean it's all there somewhere.
Boom boom you can go there.
Boom.
Sometimes your mind just goes off doesn't it?
Maybe you don't even know where it is.
Who's watching your mind?
Who's observing your mind?
Who's conscious of your mind?
Who's conscious of your consciousness?
Take a deep breath.
Breathe in and just reflect on that which is observing whatever is being observed in your mind and see the play unfolding.
You are not your mind.
You are not your neurological activity nor the patterns or the chemical reactions that you feel.
You are that which is reflecting on this.
You're the consciousness itself.
Be this consciousness.
Be aware of the awareness.
Be the awareness that you are.
Breathe.
Just remember the more conscious you are of your own consciousness the more this consciousness evolves.
Take a deep breath and be conscious of your consciousness.
Be conscious that you are this consciousness.
So the more you're consciously acting consciously the more conscious you're going to be.
It seems like an obvious thing but all day long we go unconscious because we're unconscious of how conscious we are.
The more conscious you are of how conscious you are the happier you're going to be.
That's why I'm always encouraging you to meditate,
Reflect,
Come into classes like this,
Join the weekly class,
Go to enlightenment radio and talk to other people,
Have a journal.
Engage your mind in activities that keep it conscious.
Niyama.
See yourself becoming more conscious.
Again,
Breathe in,
Look into your mind's eye.
See yourself becoming more conscious.
See yourself as a conscious being,
A consciousness in a human being that's becoming more conscious of its own being.
Now ask yourself,
How conscious am I?
And I think all of you have taken my Self-Realization course.
This is one of the most important parts is this ability to stop ourselves throughout the day and every day.
Just check in and ask yourself,
Well,
Where am I at?
How conscious am I?
Am I thinking,
Speaking and acting from as high a place of consciousness as I'd like to?
Have I been spending an inordinate amount of time in say a fear or worry or reaction or negative state?
Has it produced any results?
I mean,
Maybe you need to feel bad because someone died or is hurt or you're concerned.
But the question is,
Are you channeling the energy in a productive way?
Is it serving you?
Are you conscious of how you're affecting yourself or how you're allowing someone else to affect you?
So the improvement in your being conscious,
The development of your consciousness enables you to live a better life.
So ask yourself right now,
Take a deep breath,
Ask yourself,
How conscious am I?
And in that self-reflection,
You go someplace in your head.
It's like gathering energy from your mind that might have had some momentum to go back into a story or an old program.
Now you're starting to entrain your brain.
It's like teaching a six-year-old,
Honey,
Don't play in the pool.
Come over,
Wash your hands,
Let's clean you off.
Let's go back here and you can play in the sand or in your little blow up pool.
So we need to train our mind to treat it like a six-year-old.
Check in,
Well,
How much,
Just like you have to check in with your kid,
What's my kid doing?
Is it doing something productive?
Is it happy?
And do you love it?
You want to tell your kid you love it all the time,
Right?
I hope.
Do you tell your mind loving things all the time?
Do you give your mind love all the time?
I'll give you as much as you want.
Check in with me,
Send me an email,
Even I don't care,
But I mean,
You can try reaching me by phone,
Whatever.
But the point is psychically,
If we're connected,
You're going to feel love because I love you all the time.
And if you're letting love in,
Whether it's you're connecting with God's love,
In other words,
The fundamental love that's creating,
Sustaining your own existence that lies in the heart of your own being,
That's where you want to abide.
I can support you.
Hopefully all of us at Self Awareness Institute can support you,
But you,
And we need to support each other.
You don't want to deny that love.
I don't want you to get to the point where you're saying,
Well,
I don't need your help.
Cause that's really the ego talking then,
And that will limit your growth.
But the point of all the help is that we build up the light that is within you.
So that you,
I should say you,
Your persona sense of you,
Your egoic sense of self,
Begins to realize there's more to you than maybe you thought.
That you become increasingly more conscious of this divine part of your nature because that's the part that's feeling good.
That's the part that brings light into your life,
My friends.
This is what's supposed to guide us.
It's the light that guides men and women to the degree we allow it to.
It's impingement.
It's deterrent.
It's what creates pain and suffering in life.
It's where anger and fear and wars and suffering come from.
People not being connected with their light.
And this is what Jesus taught.
This is what Buddha taught.
Look within.
The kingdom of heaven lies within you.
So breathe in and feel it.
The more conscious you are of how conscious you are,
The more conscious you're going to be.
So as we here are evolving our consciousness,
We're becoming more aware of who we are and what our purpose is.
And like a compass,
It's always pointing the way.
Your spirit is always guiding your mind.
You just have to remember it.
And since sometimes it's tricky to remember it because we're distracted,
There's so many other temptations and things pulling us.
We're tested constantly,
Which is what Satan represents.
These tests,
The sins or our misguidance,
Right?
But like a compass always pointing in the way,
Your spirit is guiding you.
If you have the presence to check in,
Like right now,
We're checking in and so a good comes through.
We see this brings more good.
If I'm less angry and upset,
If I'm acting more consciously,
I'm acting in a way that not only helps me,
But those that are around me.
I'm thinking of the whole.
I'm thinking of the good of the whole.
So in this moment,
As you reflect upon what it means to be conscious,
You're actually evolving your conscious awareness.
You're developing the skill like a muscle,
Like getting a bigger bicep,
By doing arm curls.
As we sit here in these classes and we reflect upon the nature of our self,
This awareness itself is developing from within yourself.
The self-reflection develops this sixth sense that is still pretty much a latent potentiality in most people.
So you're some of the first people in the world that are actually developing this sixth sense,
This sense of yourself.
So just sit back and reflect on that.
Because that's profound.
You're part of the biggest movement that's ever occurred in the history of mankind,
But it's kind of like we have to remind ourselves because we get so caught up in the minutia of life and what's on the news,
You know,
Just anything else that sometimes we forget who we are and what our life's really about.
So let's come back to that now.
That's why we're here.
It's coming home.
It's your homecoming.
Squeeze in and feel the living presence within you,
Feel God's presence within you and around you.
Know that I love you,
That we're all here for each other,
That there's a family,
Virtual as it may be,
They're real people with real souls that really do care.
So may you be protected and guided by the Divine in all your activities day and night in all places.
May you enjoy good health and have long life,
Prosperity,
Happiness,
Even bliss.
Man,
I want you to get high on God.
Everyone take a deep breath,
Like bong hits on God.
Just let your experience with life be not just holy,
But holy cow,
Like wow.
I wish you a holy cow wow kind of life.
I really do.
To live anything less just is existing.
I invite you into this kingdom of God that's spread out before you.
Feel it now.
Breathe in and see if you can feel it a little bit as we're here together.
And now we can continue to invoke it throughout the day.
Continue to bring it into our daily experience,
Into our lives.
Live in this awareness.
Live in the light that you are.
Or as Ramana Maharshi,
The great sage from India said,
Abide in the truth.
Abide in this,
This awareness of this,
Our this.

Thank you so much for this. Such a soothing voice. Such a calming yet highly expansive experience I felt myself drift into another place in my mind and by the end of the session I was so synchronized that I was speaking every word with you at the same time. Never had this experience before. Thank you bless you 💗🙏🏻💗
