What It Means to 'Stay With Yourself"
by Jessica Amos
Inner child healing is about reconnecting with the most tender parts of yourself that you’ve neglected or rejected. It’s a gentle, loving process of reintegration — coming back home to who you really are. When you do this, emotional turmoil turns into compassion, disconnection into intimacy, and loneliness into love. Getting close to your inner child means giving yourself permission to grieve, forgive, and embrace every part of your story. Ready to start? Take my 7-day Reparent & Heal Your Inner Child Course

So today I'm answering the question,
What does it mean to stay with yourself?
So stay with yourself.
You can see it on my poster here.
You can see it on the mug.
So stay with yourself.
I love this phrase.
It came to me when I was actually at a counseling session years and years and years ago.
And my counselor said to me,
Jessica,
It sounds like you need to learn to stay with yourself.
And I was like,
What does that mean?
That's like an insane concept.
I have no idea what you mean by that.
And he was like,
Instead of being constantly worried about what everyone else around you is doing and trying to change and morph and become whatever you need to be in the moment for whatever's going on,
You need to drop all of that and pay attention to what you need and start taking care of your needs and start really paying attention to yourself and not be worried so much about what's going on with everyone else.
That was a really insane concept to me at the time,
But I heard it and I took it to heart and I was like,
This is absolutely mind-blowing and so transformative for my life,
And it's a basis for everything that I do.
Every part of my work is now saturated in this idea of learning to stay with yourself.
And I say,
To stay with yourself is learning to be who you are,
Where you are,
And who you are in this moment,
And where you are in this moment,
Because we can't be anywhere else.
And that's,
Again,
A foundation of meditation,
Right,
Is being where we are.
And being who we are in this moment,
Honoring everything that is here within us in this moment,
Because this moment is not the moment from two moments ago or the next moment.
So it's learning to really pay attention.
And even who we were yesterday and what we needed yesterday is not going to be the same today.
And that's not going to be the same tomorrow.
So the practice of stay with yourself is really being in full integration with who you are,
Where you are right now.
And that's why I do so much.
So many courses on shadow work,
Inner child healing,
Boundaries,
When relationships end,
Even seasonal alignment,
Starting to understand ourselves in comparison to the weather and the cycles of life,
Because we are a part of all of that.
And that is part of understanding who we are and also why I teach mindfulness and meditation and all kinds of really practical practices for coming back home to ourselves,
For really knowing ourselves and understanding ourselves and integrating into the fullness and the authenticity of who we are.
So stay with yourself is the practice of being who you are,
Where you are,
Honoring yourself in each moment.
And if you want support with that in any way at all,
My entire profile here on the app is all geared towards helping you do that.
So whether it's meditation courses,
Video courses,
Live events,
Please go check it out.
I'd be so grateful to connect with you.
Until then,
May you stay with yourself today and always.
Bye.
