From Maiden to Crone: Full Journey of the Female Archetypes
by Jessica Amos
The four female archetypes don’t just live within your monthly cycle or chronological age—they shape the entire journey of your life. In this final part, we explore how the Maiden, Mother, Wild Woman, and Crone archetypes unfold across the full arc of a woman’s life. This lens offers a powerful way to understand growth, change, identity, and the evolving seasons of who you are becoming. This is part three of a three-part series on feminine cycles and archetypes. You’re always welcome to share your reflections or questions.

Hi!
Welcome to part three of this three-part series on the four female feminine archetypes and how they are connected to your menstrual cycle as well as your seasonal cycles and your seasons throughout your entire life.
My name is Jessica Amos.
I'm a mindfulness meditation teacher,
A life coach,
And the founder of Stay With Yourself,
Which is the practice of being who you are,
Where you are.
Stay with yourself.
Who you are,
Where you are,
Honoring yourself in each moment.
So allowing yourself to be exactly where you are.
And that's so much of what we are here to talk about today is really letting yourself be where you are today,
Noticing where you are today,
And honoring whatever it is you need today and recognizing that as women we are always changing and going through these four phases.
We are always moving through these four archetypes.
We have these four phases built into our biology,
Into our DNA,
And even if you're just more of a feminine energy and you're more of a feminine like vibe,
These are built into feminine energy and feminine vibe,
Okay?
So the the maiden,
Mother,
A wild woman,
Crone,
And the spring,
Summer,
Autumn,
Winter phases are constantly happening for us.
And if we can really pay attention to these cycles and recognize that in the winter,
Spring is always coming.
And in the spring,
Summer is coming,
And autumn is coming,
And winter is coming.
And we're we're gonna keep moving through these so we don't have to be in such a panic and think that that where we're at is permanent.
Because I know that sometimes feminine energy can feel like it's it's constantly moving.
That's because it is.
So I just want to start here by saying if you haven't really checked out my seasonal courses,
The Spring Renewal,
Summer Slowdown,
Autumn Ease,
And Winter Restoration,
Go check those out.
Just even if it's summer and you feel like you're in a winter phase,
Listen to the winter course and and just catch the vibe.
Because I might be talking about the actual physical seasons in life in those courses,
But they very much apply to the inner seasons that we experience as women.
So in part one we just talked about the archetypes,
What they represent,
Just kind of really starting to understand.
And then in part two we talked about how those are tied to our cycle and the energy per week of our cycle.
So follicular,
Ovulation,
Luteal,
And menstruation.
Spring,
Summer,
Autumn,
Winter.
And each of those carries a different with them.
And then what I would like to do here is start to like take a more expansive view on where you're at in your life now.
So typically in terms of just chronological age,
The maiden fave is 0 to 25,
Mother is 25 to 50,
Wild woman is 50 to 75,
And crone is 75 plus.
But you might feel different inside on any given day,
At any given time,
Any given season.
For example,
I am about to be 46 years old in a couple months.
I will be 46.
Both of my children are in college.
They just both went to college this last fall.
But it doesn't mean I don't still very much have this motherly energy and vibe.
And I was actually got divorced also 12 years ago.
I was divorced.
And right after my divorce,
Even though I was deep in the midst of motherhood,
My kids were 8 and 10,
I went through a huge wild woman like awakening.
You know,
I was like just all about my wild woman.
I was really exploring so much of like my freedom and I was going out there and I was setting boundaries and I was changing things and I was caring less what people thought and I was really going for things in life that to me just felt so so wild.
And even though I was still very much a mother and I was at home and I love being a mother and I love nurturing.
And the mother has been with me my whole life.
When I was a little girl,
I loved my babies.
I loved feeding my babies and dressing my babies,
All my little dollies that I had.
And so my mother,
I will always have the mother in me.
And I love caretaking and I love taking care of others.
And I think it's just put into us.
But I also love to play in the child likeness.
I just and some of my wild woman very much was my wild woman and my inner child and my inner child and my crown.
And I also am deeply meditative.
I love I love winter.
Winter is my favorite month,
My favorite month,
My favorite season.
And it's it's it's good for me because I'm also a very outgoing person.
And so in winter,
That's when I meditate the most.
That's when I journal the most.
That's when I write the most.
That's when I go inward.
And so I connect with my crown and my inner wisdom in the winter.
So again,
This is why I want you to go take the seasonal courses and really dive into these,
Because you can associate these with the four female archetypes and where you're at in your life right now.
And also start to bring your archetypes on board throughout the year.
So,
You know,
Connect with your maiden in the spring and connect with the mother in the summer and connect with the wild woman in the fall and connect with your crown in the winter.
And then also just acknowledge where you're at.
So I'm in just very middle land ground right now where both of my kids are gone.
They've moved out of the house,
But they still come home like they still come home and they still want mom and they're probably always going to want mom because we always want our mothers.
We never grow out of wanting our mothers.
But then I also live with a partner who has an 11 year old daughter.
So we very much have like an active child still in my home as well.
But I also have this wonderful freedom of not being a primary parent at home anymore.
So for me,
I feel like I'm really kind of straddling all of these archetypes at one time,
Which is maybe what's making this series so alive for me.
And like the other day,
So I painted my nails blue because my inner child was like,
We want blue.
And I bought these little nail stickers to put on them because again,
My inner child was like,
We want but we haven't put the stickers on yet.
And so I'm very much in a phase of really indulging my inner child and whatever makes her happy,
Only because my mother,
The mother part of me feels a little sad that the that my children are gone,
I feel a little bit of grief.
So this,
This,
This inner child part,
This maiden part of me comes in and,
And it supports other aspects of where I'm at in my life right now,
Too.
So another thing I want you to think about,
And you can write about this as journal,
Like what phase are you actually in?
Maybe you're deep in the throes of motherhood,
Maybe you're post having kids at home,
Maybe you're a grandmother,
Maybe you haven't had kids yet,
But you're wanting to have kids,
You're wanting to become a mother.
What phase are you in?
Whether an age range,
Like in your age range,
But then where are you actually because chronological age doesn't mean anything anymore,
Hardly at all anymore.
So just notice just just take note,
Do some meditating.
And then like,
Really look at your life,
Look at your seasons,
Look how you run your life.
And this is my biggest encouragement.
And I feel like we could do a whole 20 parts on this exact topic.
But like,
Really look at how you're running your life.
Are you trying to be in a summer phase or a spring phase throughout the entire year,
Or throughout your entire menstrual cycle?
Because I mean,
A lot of times the maiden phase,
Like the youthful phase,
Or that energetic,
Creative phase can be like given more of a priority,
Like it's put on more of a pedestal than like,
When we're feeling tired,
And worn out or grouchy,
And setting boundaries,
Like,
But they all belong,
They're all part of it.
And again,
If you listen to the seasonal courses,
Please go do that.
You will,
Again,
Understand how we need winter in order to rest,
And we need autumn in order to prepare for winter.
And if we really allow for these things,
We can come out in springtime and really feel renewed with our creative endeavors.
So just I really take a look at your life and notice where you're maybe not in alignment with what's actually wanting to happen inside,
Maybe where you're not staying with yourself and honoring yourself and where you're at in your cycle.
Whether that's your menstrual cycle this week,
Today,
This month,
Where you're at in your energetic cycle,
As a woman,
Where you're where you're at in terms of age and body and,
And needs and whatever it is.
Okay,
So just really spend some time taking a good look at everything.
All right.
And and be gracious and and maybe sit and think about what you need and small changes you can make in ways that you could really,
Really honor yourself throughout your cycles.
Like,
What do you really,
Really need?
And maybe just make one note during your maiden phase,
This is what you need during your,
Your mother or your wild woman or your crone phase.
Come up with mantras and little permissions that you can give yourself.
I would love love to do more of this series with you all.
So I'm starting with this little three part just to see how you like it and to see how it lands and see if you want to go deeper.
And if you want more,
I am so down for more and going like 1000% deeper with you.
Okay.
All right.
Well,
Thank you so much for being here with me.
Until next time,
May you stay with yourself today and always.
Bye
Meet your Teacher
