Welcome to this Kids in Nature Get Close and Observe Meditation.
My name is Jessica Amos.
I am founder of Stay With Yourself,
The practice of being who you are,
Where you are.
And you are so good,
So wonderful and such a delight.
You came into this world delighting in the world around you.
And that is how you were created to be for your whole life.
So in today's meditation,
We will go outside and find a nice patch of grass or a clear spot on the ground where we will lie on our tummies.
If you need to pause this recording in order to go outside and make yourself comfortable and find a nice spot where you can stretch out and lay on your tummy,
I encourage you to pause this recording and come back when you are ready.
Now that you are ready and you found a nice spot on the ground to lay down on your tummy,
I encourage you to just fold your hands under your head,
Close your eyes and rest your head on your hands.
And take some deep breaths in,
Fill your tummy with air and exhale through your mouth.
When you are laying on your tummy,
It can sometimes feel difficult to breathe deeply,
But breathe as deeply as you can and feel how nice it is to lay with the front of your body against the ground.
Almost feels like the earth is giving you a big hug.
Take another deep breath in and exhale.
If you want to,
You can stretch your arms out to your sides,
Both your arms out to your sides.
Stretch out like you are going to give the earth a giant hug.
Just lay your arms straight out,
Stretch them out.
Just feel your body on the earth,
You can set your cheek on the ground and just feel yourself supported.
Take another deep breath in and exhale.
Feels so good to lay here on your tummy on the ground.
How often the earth feels nice and cool,
Comforting,
Soft and hard at the same time.
And it smells so good if you stick your nose up close to the earth now.
You lay on your tummy and just take a deep breath in,
Smell the ground,
See what that smells like.
So fresh.
Now from this place,
As you lie on your tummy,
You can prop yourself up on your elbows and be very quiet and just look at the ground right beneath you.
And notice,
What does the ground look like up close?
Here you are very,
Very close to the earth.
This is as close to the earth as you can get laying here on your tummy.
And now look closely too.
Really take your time to be quiet and go slow and just really let your eyes look at every little detail,
The dirt,
Any grass or weeds,
Any leaves or nuts that have fallen from trees,
Anything on the ground just beneath you.
Are there any bugs on the ground?
Living their life here in this little world,
Tiny little world,
A bug's life here on the ground.
Notice if there's anything you really enjoy about being this close to the earth and just focus on that for a little while.
Even something you like looking at,
You can touch it a little bit too.
Just notice.
This is a really fun activity that you can do,
Not just lying on your tummy here on the ground,
But you can go up to a tree and do the same thing.
You can stand by a tree and look really closely at the bark on its trunk.
Or if you find a flower you like,
You can sit and get really close to it and look at all the little details of that flower.
If you find an anthill,
You can sit and just watch those ants work all day long.
Just imagine what it would be like to be one of those little ants,
Or that flower or tree,
Or just to be the earth itself where you are now,
Just laying on your tummy looking at the earth.
So relaxing.
Imagine that you are a part of nature,
Because you are.
Here you are,
A part of nature.
And you are so lovely.
Thank you for getting up close and observing nature with me today.
I encourage you to stay here and keep looking around and finding things in nature to get really really close to and observe and look at deeply.
Until next time,
May you stay with yourself today and always.
