Stepping Into Oneness

We live in an illusion of separation. This illusion brings with it innate suffering. Join me in this meditation where we access a state of oneness. Once we access a state of oneness, we rely less heavily on our identity and this brings with it lightness and bliss.

This is a meditation to step into oneness,

To experience oneness as a state of consciousness.

What we'll be doing,

We'll be doing two different kinds of breathing.

We're going to start with alternate nostril breathing and then we're going to breathe in golden light and breathe out whatever is not golden light.

Let's not get into the details of that.

So if you haven't done alternate nostril breathing before,

You will have the palm of your left hand,

Palm up on your lap,

And the tip of your index finger will be touching the tip of your thumb.

And the other three fingers will be stretching forward in an intentional yet relaxed way.

Your right hand,

The index finger and the third finger will be placed very gently on your third eye and you will use your ring finger and your thumb alternately to close off and open different nostrils.

So we're going to start by taking a deep breath in and then we're going to close off the right nostril with the thumb.

Breathe out through the left,

Breathe in through the left,

Close off the left nostril,

Open the right,

And breathe out through the right,

Breathe in through the right,

Change,

Breathe out through the left,

Breathe in through the left,

Change.

And we're going to do that in a nice rhythm.

You can find your own rhythm,

But if you can find a rhythm,

That would be really good.

So let's begin with that.

Take a moment to feel yourself sitting upright with your spine straight,

But not tight,

Not uptight.

You're not holding it too much,

But you feel like a slight pull upwards.

And at the same time,

You feel a pull downwards as well.

So if you've done yoga,

You'll probably know this.

It's kind of like the stretching out between two directions.

So you're moving up and you're moving down.

So moving up is kind of like tightening a little bit and lengthening,

And then moving down is that relaxation and kind of widening.

So you're doing both at the same time.

Don't worry too much about if you can't do it or it doesn't make sense.

And just find your center.

Find where you feel you are sitting straight.

All right,

So we're now going to touch the thumb and the index finger of the left hand.

We're going to have that hand palm up on our lap and the right hand,

The second and third finger on our third eye.

We're going to start by breathing in through our nose.

We're going to close off the right nostril with the thumb.

You're going to breathe out through the left.

Breathe in through the left.

Change hands or fingers and breathe out through the right.

Breathe in through the right.

Change fingers.

Breathe out through the left.

Breathe in through the left.

Change fingers.

Breathe out through the right.

And follow your own rhythm with us.

Just breathe.

And gently let that go,

Keep your eyes closed and come back to normal breathing.

And on your next in breath,

Imagine or visualize that you're breathing in golden light and on your out breath this golden light is spreading through your body.

And keep doing that,

Imagine or visualize golden light spreading through your body,

You're breathing it in straight from source.

It's a very special cleansing energy,

It really helps you to release any lower vibrations,

Any consciousness around separation or pain.

And now on your out breath start to visualize or imagine you're releasing any lower vibrations,

Doesn't matter how you see it,

I normally see it as a dark cloud,

But you can see it however you want to see it and just imagine and see yourself releasing that,

Just intend for yourself to release it,

You don't even have to see it,

Just intend it.

And imagine yourself being completely lit up by golden light,

You're a beacon of golden light and this light is shining into the world.

Now take a moment to feel your body,

How does your body feel right now?

No judgement,

No stories,

How does it feel?

Oh my left toe is cold,

Ok.

Oh I have a little bit of discomfort in my right shoulder,

Ok.

Just allow it to be there,

No need to fix or judge or resist anything,

Just observe.

And go through your whole body like that,

Go through your head,

How is the top of your head?

The left side,

The right side,

Your face,

The back of your head.

How does your throat feel?

And take a moment to feel your chest,

Can you feel your chest breathing?

Imagine how easy is it or how hard is it for you to take a full breath.

Again no stories,

No resistance,

We don't need to figure it out,

Just observe.

Observing things without resisting them is a major skill and if you can manage that there will be a lot less suffering in your life.

The absence of resistance is also where we can meet our divine,

Where we can meet the universe and oneness,

The experience of oneness.

So that's what we're doing quite consciously,

We're preparing ourselves right now to let go of the human need to judge and to understand what's going on,

To interpret what's going on.

And allow your attention now to sink into your abdomen and your pelvis and just feel whatever you're feeling there.

Your lower back.

And become aware of your legs and your feet.

And your arms and your hands.

See if you can become aware of your whole body.

Feel yourself sitting or lying on the ground,

On the earth.

Even if you're sitting on a chair you can feel your connection with the earth.

Allow yourself to really sink into that awareness of the earth beneath you.

And the earth is a living being,

So you may feel energy coming back.

And if you feel drawn to this you can send some gratitude to the earth for looking after you,

Giving you sustenance,

Giving you shelter.

Nearly everything we need is provided by the earth.

Without the earth we would not be here.

So thank you earth for looking after us.

Now become aware of your skin.

Your skin is the largest organ.

It's also the barrier between what's inside us and what's outside of us.

Our inner consciousness and our outer world.

Some of us are more aware of the inside of us and other people are more aware of the outside of us.

Take a moment to think what would it be for you?

Are you more aware of the outside world or are you more aware of what's happening inside you?

Whichever it is,

Because we are living in a world of duality,

It's only one side of the coin.

So what we're going to do now,

We're going to practice being inside and outside at the same time.

So we can have both in our awareness.

Now this is an advanced practice so don't worry too much if it's too hard.

Just try as best as you can and don't try too hard because then you get in your own way.

Just explore and be curious.

So let's begin with being aware of our inside,

Like our inside our body.

So we just did that,

We are aware of the physicalness of our body,

But we also have streams of energy,

Emotions,

A whole lot of other things that we experience inside our body.

So see if you can become aware of that,

You can maybe focus on one area,

Maybe your chest,

Maybe your abdomen,

Wherever you feel safe and happy,

Wherever there is health and contentment in your body,

Just focus there.

Nice.

And now become aware of your skin.

You may find that really hard and if you are finding it hard,

You can just touch your skin for a minute.

Try not to open your eyes because we're sensing and sensing is better done with your eyes closed,

Unless it's different for you of course.

Follow your own guidance always.

Yes,

So feel your skin.

Okay,

Is your skin cold or warm?

Does it feel the air around you?

And gently allow yourself to become aware of the air around you,

The energy just around you.

Don't try to hide and resist the temptation to interpret and find meaning.

It's just a game.

And now slowly if you can and you want to,

Expand your awareness further out,

Maybe into the room that you're in or the space that you're in.

And notice how that feels.

And slowly come back to a sense of your skin.

And come back to your inner being.

And notice what happens.

Are you becoming quite still?

Or is there a resistance from somewhere inside you that's going,

Oh,

I don't know about this.

Is this safe?

Are we going to be doing this?

When we experience trauma,

This can be very scary for our identity.

And for you know,

The parts of us that haven't quite healed.

And so there might be a bit of resistance.

If that is the case,

Just accept it.

Just keep practicing this meditation until you can do it without that resistance showing up.

But you are safe right now.

So we can continue.

So gently become aware of your skin again.

And the area in the room where you are.

Become aware of objects,

Sounds,

Temperature.

So what you're doing right now,

And you're doing it really well,

You're becoming one with the room and with everything that is in the room.

So this is your basic oneness experience.

And if you feel you want to leave it there,

Then feel free to.

If you want to take it further,

You can expand your awareness out to the edge of our gosh,

I can't find my words today,

The atmosphere,

You know,

The edge of the atmosphere.

So you're now becoming aware of the entire energy in your energy field in your room,

And in the atmosphere around the earth.

Don't worry too much about am I doing it?

Am I not doing it?

It's the intention,

The energy will follow.

And now allow yourself,

Your consciousness,

Your awareness to expand all the way to the stars,

The moon and the stars.

And allow yourself to become one with the moon and the stars,

The energy of the galaxy,

The atmosphere around the earth,

The energy in the room,

And the energy inside your body.

Don't try to hide.

Just allow it to happen.

And if you want,

You can now reach out to all that is,

The energy of the universe,

The energy of the divine,

Whatever you call it,

All that is.

So you are now literally everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

In this space you are naturally at peace and anything is possible.

If you want,

But maybe do that once you've been doing that a couple of times,

But if you want,

You can form an intent,

A request to the universe if you like,

For something that you would really like to experience.

It could be love,

It could be happiness,

Freedom,

Abundance.

And feel the response,

Feel the shift in energy,

And if you don't,

Don't worry about it,

Just know that it is given.

As the universe is now expanding with the possibility of you receiving that.

And take a moment to be grateful,

But you can just ask for whatever you want and it will be given to you.

Of course you'll need to manage your state and you may want to do this meditation many,

Many,

Many,

Many,

Many,

Many,

Many times.

I know I will.

So now release your awareness of all that is,

Or if you want to stay there longer you can,

But we are now going to come back.

And become aware of the stars and the moon,

The atmosphere around the earth,

The room that you're in,

Your body.

And feel yourself landing in your body.

If you're having trouble coming back,

You can imagine your spirit as a balloon with a cord and you can pull on that cord until you are fully here and present.

Very nice.

Gently wrap your hands together,

Create some heat and put that over your eyes before you open your eyes and totally come back to the space you're in.
