This meditation takes you to a sacred space to pray- in whatever tradition or way. To pray for yourself or for someone else, to sit with pain or grief, to ask for support, guidance, clarity, courage, or strength. Rather than bypassing difficult emotions, you are gently supported in meeting them with compassion, presence, and support from your spiritual connection as you feel and see it. The Temple of Prayer is especially supportive during times of emotional heaviness, loss, or world-weariness, and can also be used as a nightly practice to help you release the day and settle into rest. You will leave feeling lighter, more grounded, and deeply accompanied—reminded that you do not have to hold everything alone.

We begin by taking a deep breath into the heart center,

Exhaling and surrendering the body to the earth,

Bringing all of your attention and awareness to your breath.

You need not force any change or be any different than you are in this moment.

You just breathe,

Deeply in feeling your body,

And on your exhales you surrender to the earth.

With every breath,

You make more room for yourself,

Honoring where you are in this moment,

Honoring your human experience.

And on your next exhaled breath,

I want you to imagine sending a root from the base of your spine deep down into the center of the earth as you ask the earth to help you to feel grounded,

Safe in your body and this space.

And as you send your root deep down,

Imagine the soil pressing against it,

Holding you.

As other roots from trees all around you come down to meet yours,

Wrapping around you and holding you in place,

You feel their sturdiness.

And with every exhale,

You surrender deeper,

Letting them hold all that you are and all that you're feeling.

You breathe deeply in,

Surrendering out,

Making more room for yourself.

And on your next exhale,

Bring your attention and awareness to your heart center,

Your portal to your great within,

Your connection to spirit as you see and experience it.

And imagine seeing the light of your heart,

The light of your spirit,

The light of love that lives inside of you.

And on your next exhale,

Crack open your heart center,

Sending that light into the space,

Deeply breathing in,

Exhaling,

Letting that light swirl around you.

And if in this moment you could use some help to feel some extra love,

To feel that source of light,

Ask those trees to push their love through those roots up to yours,

Into your heart as you exhale.

And in this beautiful,

Ethereal light,

A veil appears,

Inviting you deeper into the other realm of love and support.

And you take your hand,

You slide it across the veil and find yourself stepping out into a beautiful desert.

Your feet hit the warm sand and night begins to fall.

The sky,

A beautiful obsidian black,

The backdrop illuminating the stars brighter than you've ever seen them.

And you allow this landscape,

The warmth of the air,

To create itself around you.

You can see for miles,

Hills of sand that sparkle as if those millions and millions of tiny rocks were made of diamonds.

And you keep breathing that breath of surrender,

Allowing this sacred space to hold you.

And you call on a helping spirit animal to meet you,

A guide to support you on this journey.

And as they make their way from above or below,

You trust what you see.

Deeply breathing in and exhaling,

Remembering to breathe.

And this guide is here to take you to a very special place for you to connect,

To ask for guidance,

Clarity,

Support or help.

To pray for those you love.

To pray for yourself.

To connect with your heart and your energy body to the unseen.

And so your helping animal guides you as you walk in the soft sand.

Up a dune,

You take your hand,

Slide it in the sand,

Seeing those diamond stones sparkle.

You make your way to the top and see off in a short distance a beautiful temple.

Tuning into your heart and asking what would my sacred space of prayer and connection look like?

And you breathe deeply in and exhale,

Sending your breath out in the distance to that temple.

You allow the outside to shape shift in whatever form,

Whatever element.

Or maybe you just receive the first thing you saw.

And you begin to walk down towards this sacred space.

And as you get closer to the entrance,

You pause,

You stop,

You take a breath.

And you allow in this safe place your grief,

Your longing,

Your pain,

The grief and pain of those you love.

You breathe and tell your body we are safe.

To make room for this,

To ask to be held.

You walk into your temple.

You allow its beauty to appear around you.

Allow nature to paint this space.

Whether your walls are made of stone or beautiful vines of green leaves,

Dance from ceiling to floor.

Allow yourself to be held in the imagery that supports you.

Feeling your spirit animal next to you,

You notice in this space where it is you want to pray.

Where it is you want to commune with the divine as you experience it.

And you make your way maybe to a beautiful cushion,

A warm inviting chair.

Or maybe you're curled up on a bed asking spirit to hold you.

It is here you will breathe.

You will breathe deeply in all that you are seeking,

All of the support you need.

And you will exhale your prayer.

And your prayer doesn't have to be words.

Spirit knows your heart.

Trust your body to speak for you.

Allow yourself to safely let go and make more room.

And so you breathe in your first breath of receiving.

And you exhale.

Long,

Ache,

Ask.

Keep going.

For as long as you need.

And wherever you are on your journey,

I invite you to stay in this space until you choose to sleep or until you choose to make your way back out of the temple.

This sacred space is yours to come and go as you please.

To be held.

To be loved.

And to release.

Never forget that you are not alone.

Never forget that you are resilient and strong.

And never forget that you are allowed to feel.

Making more room is what creates change.

Forcing another feeling doesn't honor the one that is present.

Hold yourself in love,

Knowing the path continues to spiral and wind.

And we truly never know what beauty,

What gifts,

What peace awaits us next.
