The Healing River - Storytelling Meditation
I hope the fear in your heart transforms into courage. I hope your negative beliefs transform into positive ones. I hope all doubt and mental distortions fade away. I hope you know it's possible to feel free within yourself.
Transcript
Welcome to the first storytelling guided meditation.
I name this one the River of Serenity.
A walk towards the River of Serenity will allow the heart to float,
The mind to release all thoughts and the spirit to rest,
Even if only for a brief moment in time.
This is the time of the day you take to nurture yourself.
Take a moment to sit or lay down in a comfortable position.
Connect with your breath.
Do not try and change your breathing.
Observe the air as it enters and exits your body.
Observe the air as it enters and runs through your body.
Observe how the air runs through your body without any effort.
Release any tension you may have in your neck.
Allow your jaw to drop and relax.
Allow the heavy armour to fall off and let go.
The calmer you become,
The quieter the mind becomes.
Feel yourself relax.
Feel the tension in the muscles releasing.
Feel the skin of your scalp relaxing.
Relax your jaw.
Relax your tongue.
Relax your eyebrows.
Relax your forehead.
Allow your shoulders to drop down.
Release the tension from your forearms.
Allow your sit bones to sink into the earth,
Grounding you.
Let it go of all the unnecessary heaviness you carry.
Let it go.
Let it go.
Let it go.
Now bring awareness to your breath.
As you take deep breaths,
The energy starts flowing down into your body,
From the head down to your toes and back into the universe.
Feel with every breath more and more energy cascading down through your head,
Your shoulders,
Down to your chest,
Down through the stomach,
Calming and soothing.
As you find yourself more and more relaxed,
Allow your breathing to become deeper and deeper until you feel at one with the rhythm of the universe.
Observe your chest rise and fall as you hear my voice softly in the background of your mind.
Let it go.
Let it go.
Let it go.
Imagine yourself walking through the forest of your mind,
A space where you can sit under the trees and observe the falling leaves,
A space where you can let go of the burden of doing,
A space where you can fall into being.
Without fear,
I ask you to trust in the journey ahead,
To trust in the river that is always guiding.
Remove your shoes and feel the soil under your feet.
Place one foot in front of the other without any haste.
You are surrounded by trees.
The subtle breeze blows against your face as the leaves gently fall.
Listen carefully to the wind,
The wisdom of the trees.
There is no rush to be anywhere but here,
Now,
Walk with presence in your steps.
Slow,
Slow,
Slow,
Slow,
Slow,
As slow as the snail you see climbing the tree.
The tree's roots in your feet are the same,
The falling leaves represent your fears,
Falling fears,
Fears falling.
The tree does not hold onto its leaves,
It allows them to be taken by the wind.
The wind represents change,
In change you need to trust,
To be free from the leaves,
The thoughts within your mind.
Observe the leaves as they fall,
The thoughts as they go,
Away.
Feel all the fear you carry be taken away by the wise wind that blows.
Do not get lost in the thought of arriving at the river,
Embrace the silence of the sky and the river shall appear when the time is right,
As a clock at noon may seem far away from midnight.
Midnight arises as the moon reaches its highest point in the sky and the glow shines upon the river.
Do not rush young child,
Do not rush,
Do not rush towards what is already written.
Your mind is now as quiet as your footsteps,
Still as the heart of a sage.
There is finally space to feel free,
To be yourself without any fear,
To hear the wings of the butterfly flap,
To connect with the ground under your feet,
To connect with the ground under your feet.
For a few moments,
Be still.
Do not take any more steps,
Gaze at the moon and take a few breaths.
Gently inhale from your abdomen all the way up to your head,
As slowly as possible,
Slow and deep breaths like a 300 year old turtle.
Slow inhale,
Slow exhale.
Feel and observe prana,
The essence of life,
Energy flowing through your body with each inhale.
Allow yourself to release any tension you may be holding.
With each exhale,
Inhale abdomen rising to your chest and head.
Exhale letting it all go,
Releasing any tension you may be holding onto.
Inhale prana,
Energy into your abdomen,
Chest and head,
Letting it go.
As slowly as possible.
Inhale abdomen,
Chest and head,
Let it go,
Find your rhythm,
Breathe as slowly as you possibly can.
Connect with the rhythm of the nature around you.
Connect with the rhythm,
The slow rhythm.
Let it go,
Let it go,
Let it go.
You can hear a river in the distance,
The spirit of the river is calling your name,
Patiently awaiting your arrival.
Walk in direction of the subtle noise you hear.
A language you cannot decipher with intellect,
Feel and trust as you are guided.
Weightless steps and light feet,
You can see feathers falling from the sky,
The heavens,
The wind gently whispering,
Let go young child,
Do not be afraid,
Do not be afraid,
Do not be afraid.
There is nothing to fear,
There is nothing to fear,
There is nothing to fear,
Let go,
Let go,
Let go,
Let go.
Walk towards the river,
Walk towards the pure and harmonious river,
Observe the clouds residing above your head,
Your feet are as light as the luminous spirit of a mother who loves her child.
You can see the river,
It is not far away,
Only a few more steps,
Do not stop walking,
You are soon there.
You have finally arrived at the river,
Your body is light,
You feel tired after the walk and notice that next to the river there is a bed made out of bamboo leaves,
Covered by the branches of an old tree.
Walk towards the bed,
Lay down on the bamboo leaves,
Lay down on the bed,
Allow your eyes to close,
Allow the melody of the river to run through your body,
Mind and heart,
To take away what no longer serves a purpose in your life,
Let go,
Let go,
Let go.
Whenever you feel yourself drifting away,
Getting lost in thoughts,
Return to the river,
To the melody in the background,
Remember the inner river will forever flow.
The river is your anchor.
Caught on the ground,
Saying theme is for Do not get lost in thoughts.
Return to the river.
Return to the river.
Return to the river.
Return to the river.
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
Continue to breathe at your own pace,
Allowing each breath to come and go as it may,
Like waves in the ocean.
Become a silent observer as the air flows effortlessly through your weightless body.
Notice your lungs slowly fill with air when you breathe in and deflate when you breathe out.
Without any conscious effort to change your breathing,
Notice how your chest is rising and falling in complete harmony.
As you inhale and exhale,
Prana flows through every cell of your body.
As you exhale and exhale,
Prana flows through every cell of your body.
As you exhale and exhale,
Prana flows through every cell of your body.
As you exhale and exhale,
Prana flows through every cell of your body.
As you exhale and exhale,
Prana flows through every cell of your body.
Bring awareness back to your body.
Begin with your eyes closed,
Slowly move the toes of your left foot,
Slowly move the toes of your right foot.
Move both your feet,
Open your left hand as much as you can,
Feel each and every one of your fingers stretch.
Open your right hand as much as you can,
Feel each and every one of your fingers stretch.
Open your spine,
Move your shoulders up and down,
Move your shoulders up and down.
Use both your hands and rotate your wrists,
Lift your hips from side to side.
In slow motion move your neck up and down.
Begin with your eyes closed,
Place your hands together in the centre of your chest on the heart chakra anahata.
Rub your hands together,
Rub them until they are warm.
Place your hands over your closed eyes,
Open your eyes to the darkness.
With your hands together in unity,
Place them on the heart chakra anahata and gently bow your head.
