LegOracle!

Purification is one of the ten yamas and niyamas.

This is included as a disciplined practice to keep ordinary ailments of the body and common or common worries or conflicts out of the mind.

Purification is a two-fold practice,

Externally practicing the discipline of cleaning the body with soap and water.

Internal cleansing involves clearing the impurities of the anta karana,

The psyche,

Which includes the entire mind field.

In other words,

This is the purification of one's sentiments and emotional disturbances.

Its stains include impurities such as lust and promiscuity,

Pride and arrogance,

Intolerance and envy,

Stinginess,

Jealousy.

It includes anger or resentment,

Greed or hoarding.

So how do we cleanse these impurities of the mind?

Simply allow yourself to receive these sentiments energetically.

Let it resonate and impress upon every cell of your being.

This is what the yoga sutras recommend to cleanse the mind completely.

I cultivate friendliness towards those who are happy.

I cultivate compassion towards those who are suffering.

I cultivate joy towards those who are virtuous.

I cultivate neutrality towards those full of vices.

Trust that these sentiments have been received and there is nothing more for you to do.

As we progress further into this practice,

Any shifts or changes that need to take place will happen spontaneously and effortlessly.

Now breathe in fully.

Exhale with a sigh.

And again,

Breathe in fully.

Exhale let go even more.

Feel a deep wave of peace and contentment wash over you.

Now bring your attention to the face and with your next exhalation allow all expression to drop from the face.

Release all the muscles around the eyes.

Feel the eyeballs resting back in their sockets.

Release all the muscles in the forehead and the eyebrows.

Releasing any tension in the temples.

Release the tiny muscles around the mouth.

Feel the tongue relaxing and resting back in the mouth.

Telling the jaw to gently open and soften.

Feel the cheeks and the ears soften towards the floor.

Now bring your attention to all the sensations in the face.

Notice what the face feels like being completely relaxed.

Notice the direct impact it's had on the whole body.

Relaxation in the whole body.

Let go completely.

Now bring your attention to the spot on the forehead between the eyebrows.

Drop into the deepest level of letting go now.

Maintaining this inner stillness you can make any final adjustments at this time to make yourself supremely comfortable.

Throughout this entire practice remain relaxed and motionless,

Alert and conscious.

And allow any distraction or disturbance to draw you deeper within.

Now shift from thinking and doing into feeling and being.

Bring your attention to the third eye and drop into the deepest level of tranquility,

Stillness and peace.

Now bring your attention to the lobes of both lungs.

Feel this pair of spongy air filled organs located on either side of the chest.

Observe the lungs expanding and contracting with each inhalation and exhalation.

Now bring your attention to the diaphragm.

The thin dome shaped layer of muscle and tendons separating the abdominal cavity from the chest cavity.

Begin to notice and feel the attachments of the diaphragm to your bottom ribs and the sternum in the front and along the spine in the back.

Now bring your breath into awareness.

Without changing it or controlling it,

Just become aware of your natural breath pattern.

Observing the depth of each inhalation and the length of each exhalation.

Release all judgments and simply rest in a state of curiosity as you observe your natural breath pattern.

Begin to observe the sound of breath as it effortlessly moves into and out of the body.

On your next inhalation,

Begin to synchronize the flow of breath.

Simply let the inhalations and exhalations be as steady and uniform as much as possible.

Refresh and maintain an even tone of breath,

An even rhythm throughout.

And as you inhale,

Begin to fill the lungs from the bottom to the top like filling two water bottles.

Feel the diaphragm move downwards as your rib cage expands outwards and upwards equally,

Breathing all the way to the collarbones.

With each breath in,

Consciously channel the breath to the remotest parts of the lungs,

Delivering life-giving energy to the minutest parts of the tissues.

Slow and steady.

Observe and feel the inflow of breath and life-giving energy entering the body as you continue to breathe.

On your next inhalation,

Let your body,

Your lungs,

Mind,

And senses be receptive.

Begin to feel the breath as being a received gift from the divine.

Do not draw in air forcefully,

No strain.

And observe the movement of the abdomen and chest.

Do not inflate the abdomen as you inhale.

Instead,

Keep the diaphragm below the height of the ribs and feel the intercostal muscles at the front of the body lift with each inhalation.

And on your next inhalation,

Notice the slight pause before exhalation.

Notice the further lift of these intercostal muscles in the front of the body during the pause.

Maintain this lift of the intercostal muscles as you begin exhalation.

And allow the outgoing breath to be slow,

Deep,

And steady,

Emptying the lungs completely.

As you breathe out,

Notice the spontaneous release of the grip of the trunk as the lungs completely empty.

Bring your undivided attention to the outflow of breath.

With each breath out,

Empty your mind of all anticipations and empty your body of all tensions.

As you inhale,

Receive prana,

This life force,

As a gift from God filling your heart with joy.

Breathing out,

Exhale with gratitude,

Surrendering to the pure consciousness dwelling within you.

Now simply notice the pause at the top of the inhalation and at the bottom of the exhalation.

Each time your breath stops,

Empty your mind into the field of silence.

And if the breath naturally stops for a longer period of time,

Allow it to happen,

But do not force.

When breath stops,

Mind stops.

Continue to observe and feel the breath and its pauses until asked to stop.

Now breathe normally and be still.

Notice the impact of the breath on the brain,

On the spinal cord,

The whole nervous system.

Bring your undivided attention to the pulsating energy field felt in the form of sensations in the body.

Your attention to it allows it to grow and expand.

Experience it.

Energy follows attention.

Now bring your attention to rest in the eyebrow center,

Dropping three inches in towards the center of the brain.

And observe and feel the pulsations and vibrations in the third eye.

They merge into the presence.

Now follow my guidance as we move our attention through different parts of the body.

Let the penetrating power of consciousness instantly dissolve any blockages or holdings as you rest in calm awareness.

Now bring your undivided attention to the third eye.

Gather all of your attention at the center between the eyebrows and let the non-doing presence fully manifest in the third eye.

And observe the vast stillness and silence.

Give yourself the permission to enter the deepest level of relaxation now.

Nothing to do nor achieve.

Resolve and disappear into stillness,

Silence.

Gather all of your attention at the center between the eyebrows and the throat.

Now allow yourself to respond spontaneously and effortlessly to this intention.

I cultivate friendliness towards those who are happy.

I cultivate compassion towards those who are suffering.

I cultivate joy towards those who are virtuous.

I cultivate neutrality towards those full of vices.

I cultivate friendliness towards those who are happy.

I cultivate compassion towards those who are suffering.

I cultivate joy towards those who are virtuous.

I cultivate neutrality towards those full of vices.

Trust that this intention and these sentiments have been received.

There is nothing more for you to do.

Feel this intention and these sentiments are now being assimilated and adopted by all levels of your body and being.

Completely integrated.

Totally digested.

Fully actualized.

Now establish yourself firmly in faith and trust.

To receive the grace,

The protection and guidance of the higher self divine wisdom within you.

The more often you go to your source the easier it will be to return there and the longer you can stay there.

Now feel the presence of your own spiritual guides,

Guru or God surrounding you,

Blessing you now.

Accept their blessing and grace.

Embody it.

Spread it everywhere you go.

And if there is any guidance or insight to be received at this time either as a felt sense,

Words or images,

Rest in the third eye and allow it to be received now.

And feel the body resting on the floor and the quality of the air touching the skin.

Very slowly and gradually begin to rise to the surface of awareness.

Begin to take a slow steady inhalation followed by a slow smooth exhalation.

Very slowly and gently begin to move the body as if waking from a deep restorative meditation.

And if it feels appropriate rolling over onto a side curling yourself into a fetal position.

And keeping the eyes closed continuing to stay in this inner experience.

Regardless of what you consciously recognize that has or has not changed.

Know that something very deep within has shifted.

Your body,

Your mind field,

An entire psyche has been cleansed,

Has been purified.

Anytime you find yourself in any emotional disturbance you're empowered to replace it with these sentiments of friendliness,

Compassion,

Joy and indifference.

I cultivate friendliness towards those who are happy,

Compassion towards those suffering,

Joy towards those virtuous and neutrality towards those with vices.

And trust that right responses and right actions will come through you now.

With that clarity keep your heart open to all conditions.

Gently pushing yourself up to a comfortable seat.

We'll join our voices together to conclude this class this evening with the sound of a continuous om.

And keep the eyes closed.

Bring the hands together in front of the heart center.

And as we chant let your voice come from your heart center.

Not from your mind or your throat but from deep within.

And this will be a continuous om so when you run out of air breathe in and start again.

You cannot do this wrong.

Let's all breathe in together through the nose.

Just exhale through the mouth.

Inhale And Ah Earth Last one all together deep breath in.

Ahhhhhhhh Shanti Shanti Shanti With this practice of compassion,

Joy,

Indifference,

Friendliness,

May we listen to scripture,

Be around saintly people,

Wash our bodies,

Feed our bodies with clean food,

Clean air,

Clean thoughts.

May the wisdom gained tonight carry through in all you think,

All you say,

All you do.

May your spirit be victorious.

As you're ready,

Gradually open the eyes.

Jai Bhagwan.

Jai Bhagwan.
