From Shame Piñata,

I'm Colleen Thomas.

This is Daily Magic for Peace.

Today we will ask our ancestors to welcome the dead.

Welcome to The Circle.

The only item you need today is an ancestor item,

If you have one.

Something that belonged to one of your ancestors.

This could be a piece of jewelry,

Or a photograph,

Or anything you might have.

And if you don't have anything,

Just maybe think of that ancestor,

Or remember in your body what it felt like to be near that person,

If you knew them.

And if you didn't know them,

Just kind of hold them in your heart.

Sort of invite them to be with us today.

And as always,

When we get together,

It's not just you and me,

It's all of us.

It's everybody who's listened to this episode,

And who's chosen to sit in circle with us.

People who've listened at other times,

In their own space,

On their own headphones.

We're all together because we intend to be one circle when we listen to this episode.

Time and space don't matter,

Because ritual transcends space and time.

Our first grounding experience today will be very simple,

Very embodied,

And hopefully relaxing.

What I'm going to invite you to do is to just begin to let your body sway back and forth.

Now this can be however much you want to sway,

Just sway that much.

Just find a rhythm that feels nice to you.

And if you happen to be in public,

Or where there's people who can see you,

And maybe if you feel a little self-conscious,

Just you can think about swaying,

Or you can just sway in a very micro way.

Maybe you can sway your hand very gently back and forth.

See if you can engage with this idea of swaying.

Just kind of letting your body rhythmically move,

Just a little bit left,

And just a little bit right.

Or maybe just a little bit forward,

And a little bit backward.

And just notice if you can get into kind of a nice rhythm.

You can create kind of a soothing,

An experience of self-soothing.

And I invite you to take a breath.

So our next grounding experience,

We're going to return to the bubble space that we talked about previously.

So I invite you to imagine a bubble space around yourself,

A bubble around yourself,

That extends out maybe two or three feet in each direction.

It could be a spherical shape or an egg shape,

Whatever shape feels good to you.

And you can just begin to feel into the space and see how it feels,

If you have a really distinct boundary around the outside of it,

Or a shape that feels good to you.

And you can begin to clear it out.

If it feels good,

You might put down a grounding cord,

Or just connect down with your intention,

Down through whatever you're sitting or standing on,

Down into the earth.

And just envision a kind of cord,

A kind of release.

Let go of anything in your bubble space that you might not want or need.

Just allowing it to clear out.

I think we can take on the energy of other people,

And the worries of other people,

And expectations,

And all these things that are not ours and are not helpful in our bubble space.

And this is an exercise you can return to whenever you want to.

Because it's nice to begin the morning by setting up your bubble space for the day.

I find that doing it once a day is a good rule of thumb.

So now we turn to our ancestor object,

Or that vision of our beloved ancestor in our mind.

And maybe think of this person's hands,

If you've met them,

If you've seen their hands or held their hands in your hands.

Maybe see their eyes,

The way they looked at you.

Let's call on this ancestor,

This beloved ancestor,

And ask them as a representative of those who have gone forward,

Gone through the veil,

Moved on,

If they would be willing to help us in requesting that our ancestors welcome the dead.

I encourage you to just kind of have a looseness to it,

A looseness and an open request.

This is a prayer,

A request to our ancestors to help welcome these people who are just crossing right now.

To welcome them and to help them.

You know,

I always picture it like a place people can go to and be welcomed,

But you know,

Who knows,

And you may have a completely different vision of what you think the dead are experiencing now.

Whatever your framework of any spirituality or religion you might have kind of paints a picture for you,

Whatever feels right to you,

Hold that space,

Hold that shape,

And just invite some help,

Some assistance,

Some love,

Some transition.

My prayer is that these dead are welcomed,

They are enfolded,

They are held,

They are loved,

And they are taken care of.

Taken care of in ways that we could not take care of them here.

And I say this with the deepest blessings and the deepest request.

And I invite you to join me in taking a final breath and letting it go.

I know this is kind of a big topic,

Kind of a big thing to be doing so make sure you're feeling grounded.

And I invite you to be soft with this request.

And so it is.

Thank you so much for being here with us today.

Your presence,

Your energy and your heart make all the difference in healing our world.

Remember to breathe today.

Breathe and expand.

And I hope you join us again next time and please consider inviting a friend.

That's it for Daily Magic for Peace.

Our music is by Terry Hughes.

I'm Colleen Thomas.

Thanks for listening.
