Hello,
My name is David Briggs.
Welcome to this meditation on letting go and surrender.
In today's session we'll explore the art of release,
Creating space for new beginnings and serenity.
As you find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Let's begin by taking a few deep breaths,
Inhaling peace and exhaling any tension.
Imagine each inhale as a ray of sunshine,
Filling you with warmth and light,
And each exhale as a release of any clouds obscuring that light.
Allow your breathing to return to its natural rhythm.
Feel your body grounded and present,
As if your feet or your seat are roots anchoring you deep into the earth.
You are strong and stable,
Just like a tree in your own internal garden.
Let's move into a gentle body scan.
Starting from your toes and moving upwards towards your head,
Become aware of any tension or tightness.
If you find any,
Breathe into those areas and exhale.
Imagine the tension melting away like ice under the sun.
Now imagine yourself standing beside a gently flowing river.
This river represents the stream of your thoughts and emotions.
In your hands,
You hold leaves.
Each leaf represents something you wish to let go of.
A worry,
A regret,
Shame,
Pain,
Guilt,
An attachment,
Fear,
Or something else.
One by one,
Visualize yourself placing these leaves into the river.
Watch as the water carries them away effortlessly.
Feel the sense of liberation as you release those leaves,
Surrendering them to the flow of the river and the flow of life.
Now let's delve deeper.
Imagine yourself floating gently on that river.
Slowly,
The river carries you past the bends and turns and then out to the ocean.
See this in your mind now.
Now imagine yourself floating on this calm ocean,
Buoyed by the water.
You're not trying to control the waves or the tides.
You're simply surrendering to the natural rhythms of the sea and in doing so,
You become one with it.
This is the essence of surrender,
Becoming one with the flow of life.
Trusting that the currents will support you and carry you where you need to go.
You don't need to try to control it.
It is out of your control.
Let it go.
Surrender.
Feel the peace.
Now let's take three deep breaths,
Intensifying this feeling of surrender with each cycle of the inhale and exhale.
Imagine each exhale as an act of surrender.
Inhale and exhale.
Surrender.
Inhale and exhale.
Let go.
Inhale and exhale.
Surrender.
Before we close,
Let's take a moment to express gratitude for the awareness,
Peace and insight that we have gained today.
Repeat these affirmations out loud or in your mind.
I surrender my need for control.
I embrace the flow of life.
I let go of what no longer serves me.
I trust that all is unfolding as it should.
Let these affirmations sink into your being,
Like nourishing rain soaking into the fertile soil of your inner garden.
Now,
Gently bring your attention back to the room,
Back to the feel of your body in your seat,
Or on the floor,
Or on your bed,
Wherever you may be.
Allow yourself to become fully present in the moment.
A bell will ring to end this meditation.
When you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
You've taken a valuable step today in letting go and surrendering.
Like tending to a garden,
This is ongoing work,
But every effort makes a difference.
Remember,
You can always return to this visualization or meditation anytime you need to.
Thank you for your presence.
Namaste.
