Bye friends.
Let's talk about what happens when we meditate.
Okay,
Is it?
Mental,
Is it spiritual,
Is it our body,
Is it emotions?
Sure,
It can be all of those things.
Most practices start with body,
Mind,
Emotions.
So let's start there.
Let's start with the body.
When we settle,
When we sit comfortably.
And we start slowing down our breathing.
We're sending a signal to our nervous system that we're OK.
We're safe.
And when we slow down our breathing,
Often what happens is our muscles relax,
Our heart rate starts to slow down.
And our nervous system,
Really our survival system,
Starts to calm down.
And generally,
We feel good,
Right?
This is what's happening with our body.
We feel more relaxed.
We feel good.
That's the body.
Okay,
The mind.
Most practices give the mind something to focus on.
It could be our breathing.
It could be a word,
Like a mantra.
Or could even be an image.
And we focus on it.
And the goal is not to have zero thoughts to make our mind go completely blank.
No.
The goal is to keep bringing our focus back,
Our attention back to the thing that we're focusing on.
And over time,
We will build this muscle and we'll be able to carry that into our daily life.
More focus,
More attention,
Less scatter.
And we find ourselves being able to respond to life.
Instead of just reacting to life.
There's the mind.
Now,
Emotions.
When we settle the body and settle the mind,
Usually the emotions will settle as well.
And we find ourselves feeling a bit calmer,
Feeling a bit less anxious.
We find ourselves perhaps having a little more patience,
A little less frustration.
So body,
Mind,
Emotion.
All of these get better over time with meditation.
And it's a practice.
It can take a while.
And for some people,
That's it.
That's where the story ends.
But for others.
.
.
There's something even deeper.
When those three things settle,
It creates the condition to experience something even deeper.
You might call it your best self.
Or the divine or God.
Soul.
Whatever your language for it is,
It's okay.
But many people find that when all that noise quiets down,
We're able to hear something,
Perceive something that's deeper,
That's beyond the senses.
And for me and a lot of people,
That's why we keep coming back.
Not to escape life.
But to experience life so much more fully.
So thank you for listening.
That's what happens when you meditate.
And I wish you the best on your journey inward.
Take care.
