In times of turbulence, one of the most powerful allies we can call upon is our own breath. In this meditation, Scott guides you through a short but powerful exploration to meet difficult emotions where they are held in the body, with an intentionalized breathing practice. Through a technique he calls Emotional Bandwidth Meditation, Scott supports you in this self-care practice to return to your natural state of balance in a way that deeply honors all that is present.

Welcome to the journey home.

Today's practice,

Presencing all that is present.

Take a moment to make yourself comfortable.

It feels safe for you.

Allow your eyes to gently close.

Take a moment to locate your breath.

To feel its passing waves moving through your body.

Without any plan or any agenda,

The breath just flowing on its own accord as it will.

Meeting this breath with an awareness that simply allows,

Doesn't seek to interfere,

To edit,

To judge,

Or to control in any way whatsoever.

And sensing into what you have brought with you emotionally today.

What is being carried,

Held in your heart.

And meeting all that is present with a presence of neutrality.

With the same compassionate acceptance that you permitted to the breath.

Imagining that you could take a deep breath in to what is being held.

And as you exhale,

Allowing it to simply breathe out.

Breathing in to all that is present.

And allowing it to breathe out.

As you feel your mind begin to settle into your breath.

Perhaps noticing in your physical body.

The energetic signature of this emotion has taken up residence within you.

And sending a more intentional breath into this space in your body that stores this emotion.

And simply giving this space permission to exhale.

Permission to breathe.

And with each passing breath,

Gently allowing energy to enter into this space.

And with each breath out,

Allowing any contraction around it to begin to soften.

As if to say,

This too is my practice.

Opening to what is present.

You can meet all that is here with a loving and compassionate attention.

An attention that creates space to be with what is present on its own terms.

Giving all that is here permission.

Space to be breathed into.

And space to breathe out.

Not trying to force anything out.

But just simply allowing the emotion to ventilate.

This energy,

Sensation,

And emotion flow past your awareness.

Visualizing your hands meeting at your heart.

Your head bowing to your heart.

Honoring all that is arising.

All that is present.

All that is passing with equal regard.

When we make space for our emotions in this way,

The field of our attention begins to open to a more expansive quality of presence.

We are reminded that we are endowed with all of the capacity to navigate our humanness.

With a certain embrace that tells us that we are safe.

That we are seen.

That we are held within the fabric of a bigger tapestry of life.

That our essence can truly never be threatened.

And in the knowingness of this remembrance,

We are called home once again.

We come to see that whatever may be present within us today is a calling for this too to be seen.

To be met with love.

To be met with compassion.

When we touch our humanness with loving acceptance,

Our shadow alchemizes itself into light.

And we come to once again remember that all that is initially perceived as being in the way,

Actually becomes the way.

Becomes the way home.

So we just allow the breath to flow,

Allowing it to wash in you,

Over you,

Around you,

And through you.

This too is your practice.

Presencing all that is present.

As if to say to your emotions,

All are welcome here.

Know that as you navigate through the journey of your day,

If at any time it becomes overwhelming,

You can come back to this practice.

Simply locating what is held within the body.

And sending your inhale into this space.

Inviting this space to breathe out with each passing breath.

All are welcome here.

This too is my practice.

I am safe.

I am seen.

And I am helped.

Thank you for joining me for today's practice on the journey home.
