Hello,

Dear friends.

As we step into a new year,

We're of course stepping into the unknown.

And as we continue to navigate the unpredictable terrain of life,

And all of the challenges that come with it,

It's good to have some tools in your back pocket.

Tools that help you come back to your center,

Stand in your power,

And remind you that you are the co-creator of your reality.

So today I'd like to offer you a simple yet powerful tool that you can use throughout the year.

I'll be guiding a short meditation that's really an invitation for you to go within,

Connect with the wisdom of your heart and soul,

And receive a word,

Or perhaps a few words,

That serve to guide your journey throughout this year.

Now remember that words point to energy,

Or vibrational frequency.

Words can be used as tools to help us align with a particular frequency,

Like trust,

Or gratitude,

Peace,

Courage,

Ease,

Or surrender.

So once you have your word,

You can write it down and put it somewhere you can look at every day.

Then ask yourself,

What would it feel like,

Right now,

In my body,

To feel the energy of this word?

And as you feel that beautiful energy in your body,

You're practicing becoming a vibrational match to it,

And you're sending a signal out to the universe,

Saying this is the energy that I want reflected back to me.

This is what I choose to embody,

And I want more of it to show up in my life.

The beauty of this practice is that it comes in handy whether you're flying high,

Living your best life,

Or you're struggling through an intense challenge.

The reminder of one simple word can bring you back to the energy that truly serves you in an instant.

So let's begin.

Take a few moments to find a comfortable meditation position.

You might like to sit up,

Or lay down.

Just be sure that your body is supported so that you can fully relax,

Knowing that when the body is relaxed,

The mind follows suit.

Feel free to make little adjustments to your posture until you feel a sense of ease.

Once you settle into stillness,

Gently close your eyes and bring your awareness into your body.

Notice any physical tension you might be holding,

And start to soften into those areas,

Especially in the jaw,

Neck,

And shoulders.

Could you soften any lingering expression on your face,

Relaxing the muscles around your mouth and cheeks,

Relaxing into the eyes and all of the little muscles around and behind the eyes,

Letting go of tension in the eyebrows,

Temples,

And forehead,

Inviting your whole body to unwind and relax into the vast spaciousness of this moment.

You might imagine that you're gathering up all of your attention,

All of your focus,

Your full and complete awareness,

And resting it in the middle of your forehead at the mind's eye,

Perhaps visualizing your awareness as a beautiful sphere of light shining brightly in the mind's eye.

Now imagine you could slowly move this sphere of light from your head to your heart,

Gently dropping it down your body through your head and neck into your chest,

Allowing it to land in the center of your physical heart as the light of your conscious awareness settles into your heart space.

Feel yourself gently shifting out of the thinking mind and moving into the feeling heart,

Opening up to feeling and sensing,

Sensing the subtle energy in and around your heart,

Sensing the rhythmic pulse of your heartbeat,

Sensing your awareness resting in the warmth of your heart.

Might you imagine your breath flowing in and out of your heart,

Just imagining,

Inhaling through the heart,

Exhaling through the heart,

Noticing the gentle expansion on the in-breath,

The natural release on the out-breath,

Waves of respiration flowing in and out,

Observing the soothing rhythm of the breath as you breathe.

Could you open up to a sense of love and acceptance for yourself,

Just as you are in this moment,

And as you feel your way into that genuine sense of love and acceptance,

Imagine the light of your consciousness,

That beautiful sphere of light is expanding from the center of your physical heart through your entire body,

Spreading this beautiful light across your chest,

Into your shoulders,

Arms,

And hands,

Moving up into your neck and head,

Light flowing down your back,

Into your belly,

Hips,

Legs,

And feet.

Feel the light extending out in front of you now,

Behind you,

And all around you,

360 degrees,

Until you're existing in a field of pure light,

Warm,

Shimmering source light within you and all around you,

Connecting you to your true,

Infinite nature,

Allowing the light of divine presence to come into the foreground while everything else fades away.

Might you rest in this boundless loving awareness,

Just for a few moments,

From this field of pure knowing,

You might ask yourself,

What word or words would best guide me in this new year,

Trusting exactly what you receive,

And now could you feel the energy of this word or words right now in your body,

Let it sink deep into your being,

Anchoring it into your vibration,

Into your reality,

When you're ready,

You might start to deepen your breath,

Long,

Slow breaths,

Gently awakening the body,

Noticing the density of your body,

Noticing the support underneath your body,

Welcoming a sense of groundedness,

Bringing some small movements into the body when it feels right,

Perhaps wiggling fingers and toes,

Or stretching arms and legs,

Softly opening your eyes when you're ready,

Giving yourself all the time you need to reorient back into your space,

And remembering to jot down your word or words when you can,

You might also like to share them in the comments,

Thank you for practicing with me today,

Sending many,

Many blessings into your new year,

From my heart to yours,

Namaste.
